It doesn't work. Anduril and Palantir haven't actually delivered anything to the military. I've worked on projects with palantir as a sub contractor and they're really bad at everything. You ask for embedded software and they give you enterprise slop. You give them USG requirements and they say they "cant do it" if they follow requirements.
Just like everything else from Silicon Valley, these companies don't make good products. They make total unworkable garbage and have insane marketing departments. They jump right over the part where they have to actually build something to earn money, and just endlessly talk about it to pump up stock price and one day someone else is left holding the bag, or with enough hype you can trick actual competent people to work there and turn it around. But so far they haven't turned anything around.

The CIA built that software but they're required by law to give subcontracts to private enterprise. They build everything, give it to palantir to add a thing or two, put their name on it, and they meet the legal requirement. That is what Palantir is built on.

For anduril, news came out a few days ago, maybe last week, that their headsets have hundreds of vulnerabilities and its not just software, its down to the hardware design. Id imagine building something like this would take decade+ with quality assurance and iterations of prototype before being set loose. But has anything anduril made even been used yet cause I always see new marketing gimmicks but no proof they're being used.

If you look up Palmer Luckey, he's listed as the founder of occulus VR and he sold the company to Facebook in 2014. For all intents and purposes this should be incredibly easy for them to create,but the reality is that slop you can sell to a consumer to play videogames isn't what actually works for military use. They already have a decade of experience.

Brother they literally don't know anything. Shit legit takes big teams with smaller egos. I work with PhD's that have narrow focus areas and often say "I don't know, I'll have to look it up" because at this stage bullshitting doesn't work and first time quality is extremely important.
Silicon valley types need to stay out of this arena, and out of medical as well. Defense and medical deals with people's lives. Big higher up guys in my company have children that are active duty infantry officers and we have tons of veterans here, its called putting your money where your mouth is, they dont want their sons to die.
There are always tons of complaints when it comes to military gear being "outdated" or not futuristic, and it may seem boring but that's what actually works.

Its what meets the cost/benefit analysis. Most of these big companies have tons of manpower and they don't have you sitting around doing nothing but sustain, there are designs for some pretty cool things drawn out to the small component level with full life cycle management, there just isn't any money to get it to prototype and production stage.

I'm not an expert just a regular mid level engineer, but my estimate is that it would not only take a full fledged war to bring this stuff out, but it would take a few years for it to be in production. In WWII they could go from acres of grass to a full production line and first plane/tank rolling out in 1 year. Things are more complex today.
