Also alphas are just a pain, they can be not fully evolved and -20 levels compared to your pokemon and 1-shot you

Super-effective moves are still super-effective but you don't need them, if you're fast enough (speed stat means how long it takes for move to recharge) you can just spam whatever at a high speed and win. Pokemon have no abilities either. Protect moves etc just let you guard or dodge an attack fast. Some launch from afar, some you need to be right in the face to hit, but your pokemon usually auto-orientates so you just smash buttons until enemy pokemon dies. Lock-on sometimes does not want to work.Also your own character being able to run and dodge roll does not really work that well either, unlike legends arceus you're way less in the battle. Pokemon have these annoying instantly-on you damaging moves (like dig for example) that give no dodge time and just spawn right on you. Other moves you don't even need to roll or run to avoid. Also you can't really reposition your pokemon to avoid any moves, even slow ones, so you're either gonna guard or take damage, but can't dodge with the pokemon unless walking n a circle around the enemy and your pokemon decides to follow you, sometimes it does sometimes it does not.1-on-1 trainer battles aren't really challenging, most difficulty comes from being swarmed by too many enemy pokemon in too little of an area to move in spamming attacks you can't dodge with reflexes, with +1 alpha pokemon in the mix able to mostly 1-hot your pokemon unless you're way overleveled

Leveling up is a pain as well, you need multiple mega pokemon, but only specific pokemon can mega, and training them up is a pain in the ass even with all exp boosting charms, you just do not get enough experience most of the time. Exp candy drops are slow as well, so you feel this sense of the game being made to take longer to compete than it should, artificially, to pad out the play timetl;dr it's still a modern pokemon game
the problem with this remains that I desperately want it to provide me art of a character that nobody but me seems to care about, but the result of generation has literally nothing to do with the character I want :/

If you shiny hunt with outbreaks and sandwich specifically, you can end up with 3 boxes of shinies, but using sandwiches means playing online in wonky raids for a chance to get the shiny sandwich ingredientsIf you get the dlc, that sort of helps because in the second half of the dlc (indigo disk) you can get a small shiny boost meal at the cafeteria there (lasts 30 minutes) and using that + outbreak is still pretty easy shiniesBUt even at the base game +no online time + no dlc you'll find about 2-4 shinies without trying per playthrough, if you adventure around instead of just going to story destination to stroy destinationPokemons spawning in the overworld and lots of them makes shinies just pop up here adn there.
