They either don't get much attention and so die when the 2 or 3 anons in there stop replying, or OP starts the thread and then does not post ever again to attempt to continue the conversation.I also don't really talk about sex or women on here so I couldn't really tell you why those kinds of anons don't interact with any other threads. I just assume they like being upset all the time.

I see it as more about ER, the incel subr*ddits being destroyed and the rise in popularity of 4chan thanks to YouTubers(who had a penchant for making this place out to be a crazy, dark corner of the internet). The ever increasing portion of more normal people who started using the internet via their iPhones and what not didn't help either. 4chan as a whole was doomed as soon as it became popularly known and had a reputation associated with being a backwater where certain discussions aren't silenced. Most of the servers you might find on 4chan don't do that though, but there are still some that do. To my knowledge most of them don't directly advertise their servers on any board. Instead they'll hang out in servers that are and have people who look for recruits/likeminded individuals.
