that being said, more than 50% of people are accounted for if you count <= 100 iq, and more than 50% are also accounted for if you count >= 100 iq

think of it this way, there's a very very large chunk of the population sitting at 100 iq, if you grab half of the people at 100 iq and then account for anyone above or below 100 iq, then you might arrive at 50% of the population
but if you just take into account everyone at 100 iq, then their sheer numbers would be enough to tip the scales toward whichever side you're looking at
