It depends on the person, sometimes it makes people look gritty when they would otherwise look like a gay nerd, other times that same thing makes people worse, its generally not very effective, most people just get them for retarded reasons, some people get them for proper reasons, they say it makes you look masculine, if they had enough taste to parse that well they would probably find some better way to look masculine without gay mediocre tattoos that pigeonhole you into looking like a hipster, most people are drawn to the quirkiness and excitement of the process of getting one, i know a ton of people who if they didnt have tattoos they would look like a worm, it makes you look stuck up if you dont have one, they always look bad on women, ive never in my life seen a woman improved by tattoos because woman are feminine and they dont have to worry about looking pusillanious, keep that in mind if youre a male

The problem with them making you look masculine is that they make you look masculine by shifting over from looking weak to looking a little gross (and gritty), masculine men do not need tattoos, a movie star wont be improved by them, theres better ways to do that, some men stumble into looking slightly better tattooing themselves because theyre womanish and get them for the same reasons that women do, to look quirky and have excitement
