They all follow a very small handful of plots. If you see 10 of them, you've basically seen them all. I'd say a good 70%-90% of them always have a love triangle that gets in the way of the good stuff. When there is a love triangle, there's a 90% chance they build up the third wheel as the villain, only to redeem them in episode 14 or 15. Most of the workplace romcoms have a rich guy and poor/average girl pairing. Hell, most of the highschool ones for that matter pair the school Chad smart guy with a dumb/underachieving girl, which is basically the same thing.

Things in my life are actually on the up and up apart from this cold. A few things I was really anxious and sad about look like they're turning out okay. It depends. Some years we've had big family gatherings. When I was a kid my parents would at least try to be festive on the 24th by making cookies or watching Christmas movies or whatever. It's never been a set tradition, but it's usually something. Less so as I've grown older.

Language proficiency is weird.
Somebody with a background in Greek and Latin from their school years can "read" through a work in Italian or French and get substantially more of it than if they were just straight translating from a dictionary. And realistically, a lot of learned men in the past probably did exactly that, spending the time and energy to appreciate the work in its original language. But that's something different from being able to hear and respond to basic conversations in that language at a natural pace.
And then there's complexity of ideas. You can "speak English" if you can order chicken nuggets, answer yes or no questions, or say "that red car over there," right? But what about a more complicated sentence? What if, instead of "the cat eats an orange," we're dealing with "X has the same relationship to Y as P has to Q, but only when X has already been exposed to R-like conditions in conjunction with Z thing?" Are you really proficient in a language if you can't have "stoner talk" and do "dude what if" philosophical pondering at a conversational pace? Yes, the cat eats an apple. Yes, the bag is red. But the ability to navigate day-to-day life with simple "is" statements isn't the same as the ability to express relationships between abstract things, or to communicate subtle emotions, or to describe complex causal relationships. So you say, "No, I can't speak French" because you can't do those things.
But then you see some dude claiming proficiency while being WAY worse-off than you, and start to wonder if you could get away with claiming to speak the language, if that's the standard you're held to.
