Churchill is not having a good time right now is he? His legacy is being shattered into a million little pieces. First the statue in London keeps getting defaced and was placed in a cuck box for a long time, then the 5 pound note and now his little oak tree. Little lad can't catch a break in today's UK.

Lush when the nice posters are about, and not the horrible ones. Corrr. Gonna watch another episode of The Chosen I reckon. I don't know how to articulate this fully but it seems to me there are three positions which people take.
>All made up, no Jesus/God
>All real, truth
>Probably the most common in these times - "he was just a great moral teacher" without any of the theology
But really if you believe the latter, you essentially believe the first option, in which case of what value is the morality itself? This middle ground view just doesn't work imo. I am starting to believe anyway.

The Shroud of Turin is amazing..
The photographer of the shroud:
>He is best known for taking the first photographs of the Shroud of Turin on 28 May 1898 and, when he was developing them, noticing that the photographic negatives showed a positive image of the man in the shroud in addition to a clearer rendition of the image
Its As if He knew that in 1900s- faith would fall off a cliff so he left this relic for us that would become fully visible only when we developed this technology to see it photography..Mind you its Debated i do fink its real, but it wouldnt make a difference if it was proven otherwise as theres other reasons to believe but its amazing regardless, its the most studied artifact in the world.
>>
>>84208573
late night religious chat? why not, eh.

overall i'm glad it's swung a bit to option #3. people DO want some general moral guidance and you could do far worse than the Bible and/or a 'purely historical' Jesus.

you can split hairs about some of the more unusual beliefs, or teachings that were very much in the context of the time, but it's also easy to take it for granted how much this has informed Western civilisation. SOMETIMES badly, i'll admit, but that usually comes across more like powerful people are misappropriating religion rather than following it. you can have a cruel tyrant king, he can claim he's actually pious and just.

i struggle with the theological side of it, but i envy people who believe in it classic Crosslad style. good for them (fr fr). but there's some value in e.g. the parables, the same way there is in Aesop's fables. we're not all acting purely according to our nature like wild animals, so our moral compass + how we treat each other are going to be informed by something from somewhere.
>>
Also even tho its most studied artifact scientists dont even know how to re-create it n.n
>the image on the Shroud is not a bloodstain; it did not come from blood in contact with the cloth. It is a photographic negative. And no one really knows how the image got there. It is a scientific mystery.
>The most prevailing theory is that the negative imprint we see was created by a sudden burst of photons, that is an oscillating strobe of high-intensity light
Now check this out n.n
>To create a similar light, one would need all the electrical power generated on Earth today. And that is a conservative estimate, mind you. Some scientists put the electromagnetic energy required at 34 trillion watts.
This is the light frm resurrection. n.n
>>
>>84208735
>>84208759
I'll probably look into this. I need to find some good Bible commentaries also. Much to consider.
>>84208741
I suppose what I really mean is
People think that they can dispense with the belief in an eternal soul, or really anything non-material, but still care for morality, for some reason.
But what good is any sort of morality if we are to sincerely believe that we die and then cease to exist at all, forever? It's a contradiction in terms to say that there can be morals in a totally deterministic physical only universe. I reckon. Innit.

#wow #whoa

all the different explanations on Wikipedia are 3complex5me. it's definitely a step beyond the whole pareidolia my-toast-looks-a-bit-like-a-face thing though. so even if some sneaky trollster intentionally painted a face in a cloth during the Middle Ages, 700 years later he CANNOT stop winning.

now someone please get AI to figure out that weird Voynich Manuscript book PLEASE
>>
>>84208810
Nah there is no paint
>The image exists only on the topmost layer of the fibers (0.2 micrometers), suggesting a, still unknown,, searing or energy process rather than applied paint.
Yes sneaky atheist scientists originally carbon dated to medieval times However it turned out that they specifically tested a corner off it which was repaired by Nuns back in the day after a fire..,
Theres other tests that puts it in 1st century..,theres a Jewish sceintist that converted to being Christian jst from his research work on the shroud.....
But u know the fact that its controversial nd debated Is totally perfect from Gods point of view..its exactly what is needed so that ppl still have free will to make a decision to have faith...If there ws a relic thats jst like Completely unanimous 100% "bible is all real" then nobody would have faith in God it would jst be a fact we all accept even ppl who want to reject him....He wants us to have faith n believe.....So the shroud is like that.....Its like the controversy itself is part of the proof....Know what i mean..Its honestly amazing when u think about it. Well IMO.

>But what good is any sort of morality if we are to sincerely believe that we die and then cease to exist at all, forever?

i can manage this to be quite honest with you lad. if i somehow had it 100% confirmed there's just nothing, i think i'd find that pretty miserable but i can also see how people find comfort in it (this is your go at life, there's no dress rehearsal, so what you do here is what matters).

i think human beings are generally what i'd call 'good'. i even think a lot of people stop themselves SHORT of kind/helpful/collectivist behaviours because of some other factor. say a junkie is having a fit on the street, the bystanders who don't call an ambulance aren't all heartless psychopaths. in the Parable, all them non-Good-Samaritan lads probably came up with very similar copes: 'he must be some sort of wrong'un, he might be dangerous, what if i'm putting MYSELF at risk by helping?'

of course you can come up with examples where anyone would be pushed to murder and such, but i don't really subscribe to this amorality-by-default idea a lot of internet lids seem to have. even in a purely clockwork deterministic universe, most people would just go on as usual i reckon.

Eh, you and me both innit. There is something fun about posting stupid drivel but when you take life more seriously it does look superfluous in hindsight. I even "hung out at the mall" a few times. It was fine. Just shops really, innit? Once you've spat over the railings and been thrown out of PC World for playing on the office chairs, you've done it all. Would have been more into it if we had arcades.

probably just the trend of people growing a bit more sensible as they get older. i'm fine with a bit of drivel because the internet isn't that serious, but i'll also talk with lads earnestly ITT, there's no irony or anything when i say i like hearing people's views, what they've been up to, and how they're feeling.

>>84209037
>you didn't have any big shopping centers where you was?
a few smaller ones, but not the big Dawn of the Dead/Mall Rats type buildings. most British towns have traditional town/city centres, it would have taken EFFORT to get the bus to e.g. the MetroCentre and smoke or skate there instead. so even on a trip to Newcastle, we'd find a nice field for the carnage.

there were all these tricks and rumours to these. they tape/glue the tenners down and all that (maybe they did).

i remember people saying the alarms went off if you rammed them, but they only detect horizontal movement, so you could get away with a more vertical nudge/shake (huge if true)

corrr those were the days.

i don't mind lying to the youths of today and putting in '80s style' arcades as though we had those here. but you couldn't beat going to the bowling alley and then spending more time in the little corner that had a Time Crisis machine.

>>84209209
thanks marra, that's really sweet of you.
>I suspect Its counter productive.
aye you've nailed it haha. it's not just some awkwardness/defiance like a naughty kid, but you can probably see how people don't like being TOLD this stuff in a prescriptive way, even if it's frustrating and you know in heart they can be saved and all that.

you're a good person, but ultimately it's up to the people themselves whether they go for accepting Jesus. you can also flip this one around though: think of all the people at your church who may have hit rock bottom or been at a horrible place in their lives. now they're just out worshipping + eating crisps.
>>
>>84209356
I mean, arcade machines were always around. They were usually in leisure centers and stuff. Apparently Space Invaders down the pub was a thing, if you were my dad's age.
Can't say I've ever see a legit Bart Simpson style arcade though.

shitsux. i know America is largely built around the idea of a car ('walkable cities', like that's exceptional...?) but it's just poor planning really.

Walt Disney's original Epcot idea was pretty cool. wonder if it would have lasted.

>>84209371
yeah a few pure arcades have popped up near me, probably riding the wave of the whole Stranger Things trend. but growing up it was just the occasional lightgun or racing game inside somewhere else. seaside amusement halls probably made more money from the child-friendly gambling machines (like the coin pushers).

i always wanted to give DDR a try. one of those things the mall-Americans would talk about.

There is this other church approved eucharist miracle Lanciano. The blood type tested in that case is AB.Blood type of the Shroud is AB.Any time they find a relic wiv allegedly Jesus blood on it.They find a blood type AB. This blood type is rare only about 5% of ppl. Blood testing only invented early 1900s. So during the time of the relics nobody knew about that. So thats pretty interesting.

nice one.

>I shower in the morning to wake myself up and feel ready for a fresh day.
yes, this is correct.

i used to shower twice a day during our annual heatwaves, but a couple of years ago i just accepted waiting for the next morning. if it's a hot night, that very quickly counters the 'i like to be clean in bed' perspective, anyway.

maybe this year i will buy a fan.

Honestly think I've gone off the blonde escort I lost my virginity to. I think she's a bit of a bitch tbqh.

Found out she loves Taylor Swift and likes feminist artists like Tracey Emin. During our last meeting I was trying to cum for a second time but I gave up. I laughed it off but she said she doesn't really care which irritated me a bit. I think she's a very arrogant woman with a high opinion of herself.

Still, I've fucked her numerous times now so I feel I can walk away with my head held high if I decide not to see her again.
