I think about to get banned for a shitpost I just posted on another board.

Ever get banned anons? What for?
>>
Spamming and "fake reports" back then when moderation was a lot less competent.
Things have improved quite a bit now so I'm grateful, even if there's a lot more to do.

tv tranny jannies are very sensitive, i got banned for jokes, racism, trolling and replying to no-no threads many times
>>
>>84313838
Used to all the time for being off topic. Now I just post here since there's no topic.

In my teens I would often get 3 day bans because I didn't care about the rules and just came here to antagonize people. I would get banned for things like trolling outside of /b/, off topic posts, nsfw pictures on blue boards, or announcing a report/sage.
Now I've mellowed out a lot and it's been years since my last ban.

i got a warning over a post that barely breaks the rules. so gay whichever faggot reported me and the janny that agreed to warning me.

If you banned everyone who used to post here before turning 18 then you'd ban like 90% of all 4chan users.
>>
>>84313838
I've been banned over 100 times from /mu/ for saying the n-word.

The majority of mine are posting selfies on r9k and some for posting wanting a trans gf

>>
>>84315421
That's a common reason jannies delete and block something they don't like. Most mods don't really look over the post and ban it anyway. Thank god repeals exist when you can link the post in the archive and show that you did no such thing. I seriously hope jannies like that get permabanned as that's a major accusation that has a lot of consequences against an innocent person if turned into law enforcement.
>>

we need to go back in time and ban all of raspberry heaven from making 4chan. especially moot

that's hilarious, they're doing personal bans again? i thought they phased that out forever ago.

You always have rogue jannies with personal agendas and let it go immediately to their heads. It's unavoidable.

LOL. lowtax moment
>>84315487
do jannies even ban? i don't remember when janitors were implemented or what it is they actually do. when i was here the most it was just dear leader and his mod frenemies who were all vying for power and trying to undermine each other to take control of the site as the REAL POWER BEHIND 4CHAN!!!!!!
>not that that's why janitors were implemented or anything

>Ever get banned anons? What for?
years ago there were some really awfully vindictive jannies on /v/ that would follow me around and give me global 3days for literally nothing, i know they'd do it manually because there would almost never be an offending post linked with the ban, hasn't happened in years but i also visit /v/ much less desu, still stuck on that static ip too
>>
>>84315518
Jannies can only flag posts or give you a temporary posting block before they notify someone one the offical discord
They don't use the #irc anymore cause its public
Although the stongest authority on this site is anonymous ## developer and they have a deep blue flavor text compared to mods purple
>>
>>84315553
>official discord
that seems less secure than the cycling password thing they were doing on #janiteam before, but that was dear leader's paranoia and before the nda enforcement.
>Although the stongest authority on this site is anonymous ## developer and they have a deep blue flavor text compared to mods purple
neat, i thought modposting was also phased out forever ago? i know they basically operate under forced anon but seems like they weren't supposed to be ## anything. there's red for admin, purple for mod, blue for dev i guess, wasn't there a pink for manager or something? maybe not manager but something that was literally never used except maybe once on /j/.

i still think whining about bans is bitchmade because mods aren't - or weren't - technically supposed to operate under parameters either and had as much freedom as users did with the exception of "blatantly illegal shit", "getting the site into legal trouble", and "making all the userbase turn on you". der fuhrer was pretty open about that including in his talk circuits. of course this clearly presents its own problems as the rules wouldn't have changed without a reason to. no more era of begging for snacks-tan's sweet sweet b&hammer and bragging about your number of bans, huh?
>>
>>84313838
>Ever get banned anons?
Yes, many, many, many times.
>What for?
Usually for triggering some faggot who has pull with the mods (or a mod posting anonymously) causing them to reach for rules that are usually just ignored but that everyone breaks, such as "racism outside of /b/" - indeed, while other posts that violate the same rule remain up in the thread.

Saying anything negative about israel on /k/ is probably one of the fastest ways to get a ban, although posting a selfie or picture of your own hand or similar on /r9k/ is even faster.
>>
>>84315579
>7000hrs in paint later
They occasionally post on slow boards even yuki does occasionally
To quote americans back the blue kek
>>
>>84315630
>slow boards
like /3/ and /po/? lol. the state of some of the boards is pretty sad even if they're more active. they're literally nothing but generals. you know what's extremely well organized though? every single porn board. the anons are all civil, type at length, and follow their own self-imposed rules. some are even friendly. can't imagine copping a ban on a porn board unless you really deserved it.
>staying true to our roots, i see.
seriously, /h/ alone is amazing. i don't even use porn at this point. it's just interesting to see how the different boards behave when compared to each other.
>>
>>84315644
Generals are cancer im glad /a/ attempted to nuke them and uh /v/ practiced mitosis instead so expect /vr9kpol/ soon
But i agree with you on prawn boards sans /gif/ because that had and always will be a dumpster fire even /trash/ is more organized which is hilarous.
Iunno i think after a solid 18 years on this site the users of x board begets the moderation it gets and slow speed lewd boards you probably cant even spam or shitpost on because its a locked down community
>>
>>84315675
yeah what the fuck happened with /v/? why are there a million spinoffs? i left before bronies even existed and come back and /mlp/ exists, fine, ask what the fuck they let happen to /r9k/, /v/ descends into fighting over feminism for some stupid fucking reason, and now there are 20 million video game boards?

why are there even multiple general boards? incredible that mr. mandate of heaven could not figure out that every single time he made a new board every other board immediately got ten times worse. if it didn't work for /r9k/ the first time, just do it 12 more times to every other main board. i'm sure eventually this will work!
>>
>>84315579
who the fuck cares this much about 4chan?
>>
>>84315688
Im fairly certain /v/ split into multiple boards before simply pulling out the b& hammer and saying no fucking generals (/a/ specifically) i just assume it was born out of laziness trying to seperate post goobergate kulture war from actual video games sans new releases
And separating pokemon porn dumbs and roms from vee proper
I can understand the logic splitting v into /vg/ but everything else is a confusing wash
Retro makes no sense because the average poster or buyfag MUST have a ancient game or console which is enough for a thread but i guess segregation was on the menu
>>
>>84315518
No. Jannies can only block. It then goes to the mod to decide whether it's a ban. Most have so many to go through they don't even bother and just accept it.

>>84315675
>Generals are cancer
Not all of them. The point of them is to contain a certain topic instead of the same exact thread being posted all at the same time flooding the board and bumping threads off the catalogue. I'll take /a/ as an example: when Dragon Ball Super was being aired, it was much better that it had a general to contain it there was always 10 or so threads about the episode that just aired. How many threads did we need of Goku going Ultra Instinct?

On slow boards, yeah, there isn't much of a point. There is one general on /diy/ I do post in, but even then, it doesn't need to be a general since that board is so slow and some of the questions that get posted can be their own separate threads.
>>
>>84315700
Anon you act like you just walked into a retirement home and started yelling at old people talking about the good ole days
>>
>>84315700
take a wild guess.
>>84315718
that makes sense, though isn't /v/ a blue board? would think that would get porn dumps kicked off pretty quickly, though i suppose they wouldn't have a dedicated board if they're about the actual poke-eh-mons pubis rather than fucking trainers. of course once you split a board you can't really fuse them back together. it's like nuclear fission. i would think retro would mostly be emulation rather than actual old consoles just by volume and accessibility? making dedicated boards for rpg and strat specifically is baffling.
>>
>>84315732
>There is one general on /diy/ I do post in, but even then, it doesn't need to be a general since that board is so slow and some of the questions that get posted can be their own separate threads.

do you like /diy/? that seems like it would have been one of the main casualities of subreddits. i'm glad it isn't. 4chan has always been more fun for that sort of content. it is a bit odd to go on hobby or topic boards and see multiple permastickies in a row with resources to external wikis though. i wonder how much traffic they lose just by doing that. old 4chan was a preponderance of constant infographic and resource sharing threads because it was always cycling to new users.
>>
>>84315749
I only post in that one gen. It's okay, actually. My own qualm with it is that there is a grumpy old autistic fuck that has a stick up his ass. He's easy to troll because of it. Granted though, he's probably the most knowledgeable of that hobby in that entire general.

The gen I post in does have those links to external wikis. It's mostly to redirect the most basic and common beginner questions, which many ignore anyway. Hence, every regular just ignores those questions. It's just better to do that. If it wasn't done, about 80% of the thread would be those very common questions and us answering them.

>My own qualm with it is that there is a grumpy old autistic fuck that has a stick up his ass. He's easy to troll because of it. Granted though, he's probably the most knowledgeable of that hobby in that entire general.
heh, sounds just like hobby groups in real life. gotta respect the old timers, but it's fun to annoy them by finding the most absurdly incorrect way to do something and see them rage. it's all in good fun.

good to know 4chang hasn't lost its old spirit of cranky autism about niche subjects. it's an endearing quality you can't find anywhere else if only because of the anonymous nature versus the performance and accumulative reputation of every other site, even (or especially) pseudonymous ones. you know by posting here that you and that octogenarian are truly in it for the love of the game, not to make a name for yourselves.
>>
>>84315819
It'd be easier just to say what the general is: it's the /ham/ general. Historically, it was an all autist hobby and probably more so than any other hobby like anime or table top RPGs. You had to know your stuff in order to get into it and be obsessed with it. Back then, you either had to have a shit ton of money (e.g. thousands, even back in the 50's) to get into it, or build the equipment yourself. If you look at the testing to get the license, a lot of the content relates back to this, despite it mostly being irrelevant now-a-days. That old guy is from that age where he had to build all of his own equipment and still does from kits, so he knows what he is talking about. It's why if he says something, I say:
>shut the fuck up and listen to him
>>
>>84315886
I guarantee if i turn on my baofeng and hop on the local repeater, the minute i speak i will be spamed with "callsign callsign" x24
Hamtists have 1 foot in the grave and still will demand you have the proper license
Meanwhile 27~ on avg are on said repeater paid for by my tax dollarydoos but its a sekrit club
>>
>>84315904
Oh so you do know what I am talking about! Sometimes the autism is funny. One of the local guys here are onto everyone about their mic gain, and if it's not perfect, he's having an autistic fit on the repeater. One of the people who commonly does the net is doing an excellent job and he's coming in full clear, yet that old fuck will come on and say to turn up/down his mic gain.

Yes about the Baofengs. Holy shit does that cause a lot of meltdowns. The major one being the roger beep. When I was listening on the regular, almost all the old fucks would get on there stepping over one another just to tell the guy off.

Some of it is funny, but many is just plain sad. It's really why I don't get into it anymore. If I do, it's more making another antenna just to have a project, then testing it out on some digital modes. I still participate in Field Day and another contest, but that's pretty much it.
