There have been too many sunny days recently. Hoping for a cloudy and rainy spring.
I feel you, as nice and happy as the sun makes me, it's a little too warm for me out there.

Talking to some old timer farmy retard types they get this plastic shrinky dink shit for their windows every winter and despite living in a drafty shitbox that was built during the time of injuns and british soldiers they claim it helps with winter fuel costs. It's the air gap that works. I got aluminum mylar bubble wrap and put one layer on the outside and one layer on the inside. Easily over 6" air gap between layers + it blocks 200% of all light. Seems strange but getting a window unit air conditioner that's only slightly oversized instead of 2x oversized also works better. The goal is to have it constantly running instead of rapidly cycling the compressor.I stay a comfy 65 all summer ,and winter doesn't matter because it's cold outside. The amount of energy and heat from solar gain is mind boggling. Windows made sense back when we were cavemans and nights were cooler than days. This is still the case but nights are way too fucking hot and humid so windows have no benefits whatsoever to anyone born in the last 70 years. Deleting windows is a pain in the ass, but a roll of mylar bubble wrap is like $20 and you can do every window in the house with just one roll.

I figure that if you're already going this far to cool your house down you might as well bring in some upgrades. Some of his best ideas are thermal radiative paint and PCMs (phase change materials).
