>go work my night shift wagie
>start getting tired at the end of the night, as one should be
>get home
>immediately get the human zoomies and cant fall asleep, lots of skipping around the house like an autist while listening to music
>well it's already noon so may as well stay up
>fatigue creeps in the closer work gets
>barely survive the shift by replacing my blood with caffeine
>on drive home have visual hallucinations and fight to keep myself from falling asleep and/or crashing
>get home
>the fucking human zoomies again as soon as i walk in the door
i havent slept in 37 hours. how do i fix this without taking pills that make my dick shrivel up and fall off
i cannot mentally afford sleep deprivation induced brain damage

Whatever you do don't drive. Being fatigued has the exact same effect as being drunk when it comes to driving.

hello friday

Yep, pretty sure I have this. Long ago gave up on getting enough sleep, or trying to go to bed before my body is ready (around 4AM usually) and I just drink red bull and/or yerba mate when I need to actually get up and do something.

what days do you work? you'll have to introduce a break every 2 working days

warm shower and brush your teeth when you get home, then read in bed for an hour. Also mark what time you're drinking caffiene and what the amount each day.

i drive a lot better drunk than fatigued actually since at least i can pay attention and not hallucinate
i was listening to this long repetitive song at the time and it put me into a legit trance and i was starting to see shapes and colors materializing on the road and following the slightest curve in the road felt like the equivalent effort to trying to move a boulder
definitely ran a few red lights but i drive home at like 5am so theres almost nobody around for me to hit luckily
on that same night i was almost isekai'd by truck-kun due to situational awareness having dropped to near absolute zero while i was making a turn into a parking lot. if he didnt swerve i would have absolutely died, 18 wheeler in a 55mph zone nearly head-on with a gay little hatchback

you can eventually develop schizophrenia from that you know

it's an annoying schedule where my day off moves "forward" every week. i.e week 1 would be sunday and monday, week 2 sunday and tuesday, week 3 sunday and wednesday etc
it makes it so that you never get multiple days off in a row with the tradeoff being you get a 3-day sat-sun-mon weekend
i usually pay off my sleep debt on my days off, ill sleep like 10-16 hours in one session

>37 hours
fuck your dick. take some pills
melatonin, benadryl are over the counter
indica weed works too if you don't have to worry about drug tests, as long as you're disciplined enough to not do anything
a doctor can prescribe ambien

yeah it sounds drastic but 37 is way too much

Thats what the late shift does to you. I thought it was awesome at the start but after about 1.5 years something changes in you.
The closest solution I've found is to just set your alarm to 11 am and just stick to it or a time you find suitable no matter what.
Still its probably better than being forced awake at 7.30 am to start work at 9. I think people should aim to be eventually in a position where they are not forced to work. And all caffeine does is make you awake in the moment at the expense of later.
