A year ago a guy joined my team at work and god I fucking hate him. I mean, as a coworker he's quite chill because he rarely interferes with the shit that I do, but he often wants to sit with us during lunch and holy fuck. He rarely speaks, when he does it's nothing interesting, and it's always at 0.25x speed. I shit you not, the guy goes like
>so, yesterday, uhm... i mean, yesterday, i was... doing shopping? yeah, i was doing shopping. so. i was doing shopping, and then... and then... and then i was done shopping
it takes five minutes for him to utter a sentence that normally takes two seconds max. This always completely ruptures the flow of the conversation in the group.

And again, he never ever has anything interesting to say. I don't mean "I am not interested in things he says", but rather, his voice is just monotonous and dead inside. There is zero life in him. My grandma on her deathbed was more lively than this dude.

Just to complete the picture: he does take care of his looks but makes himself as inoffensive as possible. Literally the way his mom taught him to dress to the church. He's from a poor country so he's still in shock how much our "sit and do nothing faster" bullshit corporate job pays - monthly he earns more than the rest of his family yearly combined even though we're all at the bottom of the payscale. The effect is that he spends his free time doing shit related to work in hopes of climbing the corporate hierarchy by the virtue of being a good goy.

When he moved in he was telling me how he's planning to get a gf and marry her. I immediately told him "forget it" and now it's funny because he knows I was right. You can see it in his eyes and based on a few small hints here and there I have suspicion that he visits some boards here.

It's so frustrating for me to watch him be proud of winning the wrong game. He thinks he's going to win at life by, again, being a good goy, while what he should be doing is not being a fucking emotional drain.
