I drew this in Microsoft Paint. The woman on the left is my mom, telling me she'll be back. On the right is me, age 7, holding a red helicopter toy and a blue plastic sword. She worked late shifts. I would stay up past midnight sitting in the dark hallway because I was afraid the silence meant she wasn't coming home. I stopped crying after a while and just stared at the wall until I heard the lock turn. The drawing looks funny, how I feltcompletely frozen, waiting, not knowing what to do, I don't talk to her about this, but I wanted to put it somewhere.

ok now me. my parents divorced and my dad worked nights and on the first night alone i finished my drawing and ran out to the front room to show him. when i realized there wasn't anyone there i walked back into my room and cried. what did you like to watch on tv?

Yeah, the drawing is confusing. It shows her leaving at 7am. But she worked long hours and came back late, sometimes 7am the next morning. I waited all night in the dark hallway. The 'leaving for work' moment was just the start of the fear.
