The age difference can cause the relationship to go south because the older partner starts becoming a parent rather than a lover. He/She starts telling you what to wear, how to behave, where your life should be going, etc... It's fun (really fun) in the beginning, but for me the issues that brought me to look for a relationship with an older woman (my mommy issues) were the same that drove us apart. Proceed with caution.
