Do SSRIs and antidepressants help?
>>84515665sign your life away if you wanna take these things, i'm convinced these are forged in the hottest magma of the underworld
>>84515665They might help a lot. Most likely they will do something vague + side effects or nothing at all
>>84515665Yes but pls pls search up the side effects before trying any
>>84515665Yes, the only people who disagree are retards that think being un functional neet is a valued personality trait.
If Tony Soprano takes em you should too
that's like asking if people do it on purpose or not
Dont take any drugs unless your life is already completely hopeless and even then dont do it
>>84515831why the fuck notit's over, might as well have fun or feel good while waiting for death
>>84515839 they are profitting off ur misery
>>84515869drug dealers? i don't care if they're providing me drugs, i choose to take them
Read the Nature article "the serotonin theory of depression".tl:dr; serotonin has been shown to be unrelated to depression. Antidepressants are, results wise, no different than placebos. Yes they DO change brain chemistry and that may help some, but may make things worse for others. However, they affect things outside "depressed or not" to a negative degree and society at large is greatly suffering from it.
>>84515665No. They suck Jew dick.I'm currently on the last stretch of totally withdrawing from this evil shit.
I use an snri and antipsychotic together and they really help me.withdrawal sucks but you just gotta keep at it.
NDRI GANG
>>84515665I used to be happy by default until I learned I had no reason to be. This wouldn't fix my problems.
>>84515665They've helped me a shitload. Only downside is not giving a fuck about sex but there are supplements that can help with libido. I used to have chronic insomnia and severe anxiety before taking SSRIs.
I have been diagnosed with clinical depression, autism and adhd I have been on several of these SSRIs and none of them work. My psychiatrist is trying SNRIs now whatever they are.
>>84515665Wouldn't knowWhen I got diagnosed with depression, I vehemently denied it, then threw my Prozac in the toiletI drank a bunch, then quit and started concentration on my situation (fitness, cleaning my house, cooking my own food)
>>84515665They help, but you also need to make lifestyle changes to fix any of the depression shit you're suffering through. There's no magic pill that will will cure you, you have to do the work.
I did a really deep dive into modern psychiatric treatments, and it blew my mind and how fucking retarded it is. People literally just make mental illnesses up, it goes in the DSM, the psychiatrists diagnose you with these, based on self report largely, and then treat you for these made up illneses. Okay. This is fucking retarded obviously, but if the treatments work and people's suffering is alleviated and they become more functional, then the quack science it's based on can get a pass right? Because ultimately who cares if the patient is treated and gets benefitted. But when you look at the treatments, it's just almost total quackery. SSris as a treatment for depression etc has been totally disproven as the monoamine hypothesis for depression etiology has been shown to be bunk science. And then when you look deeply into their actual efficacy, it's just more retarded quackery. Functionally they have little to no benefit over placebo, and comes with significant health risks. And the larger issue is how do you even measure medication efficacy in trials, when the illness itself has an unknown cause. So the give people these scales to rate (eg Hamilton depression scale) why is just self reporting nonsense and full of subjective bullshjt like perceived sleep quality. Psychiatric companies know how to game these studies to get approval. Hence the latest bullshit is ketamine treatment for depression. I mean really open your eyes- psychiatry as an industry now touts injecting ketamine on a semi regular basis, along with sniffable take homes. Ketamine is a street drug lol. You can prove heroin has a benefit over placebo on these studies, that's how bullshit they are.Truth is depression is an ill defined vague nonsense diagnosis and the treatment of which is not chemicals crossing your blood brain barrier -> its to find meaning purpose esteem and value in your life. Modern life makes this extremely difficult with how alienated we are. Volunteer at an animal shelter.
All they do is make your dick stop working, but GP's and therapists will gaslight you into believing that it is working in subtle ways that you can't immediately see.I've been on all sorts of drugs and thats always how it went.
If you want to be numbed? Yes, but it numbs you to a lot of things you do not want to be numbed to. They're not meant fir long term use, yet they are used that way.>>84515893Good luck comvincing people. I even gave people the studies and highlighted the very specific statements showing this result, but denial kicks in. The doctors will say you are wrong despite the shit ton of evidence to the contrary. Big pharm psyoped the world really hard.
>>84515665Lexapro helped a bit with intrusive thoughts. I couldn't nut for a few months but after that I haven't felt any side effects.
I started taking paroxetine on March 5, 2025, and stopped taking it on May 12, 2025. It cured my depression. I only had side effects in the first few days.Go to drugs.com and search for specific SSRIs and see their ratings and reviews.
>>84515665For some people... Who don't mind the side effectsDon't trust any doctor who says "oh, you'll still be the same person you are now, they don't change your thoughts!"They absolutely have the potential to numb you down so much that you feel detached from reality (like watching someone else move your body around), and the increase in suicidal ideation or intent doesn't always come from "suddenly having so much energy again!"Also:>significant weight gain>sexual dysfunction (I'm talking it feels like someone stuck a needle down your urethra when you cum, IF you can cum, IF you can get hard)>sleep issues (constantly tired, or unable to sleep)>can trigger manic episodes if you're bipolarSociety is fucking EVIL if we have to hand these out to everyone for business as usual
>>84518943uhm but the DSM-V says it's good!!!
>>84518943Some people genuinely need to "detach from reality" a bit. I know someone with constant social anxiety (despite being extremely social in nature), constant intrusive negative thoughts and worrying. There's no good reason for this person to be this way, other than being fucked in the head. In theory, SSRIs should be ideal for this individual, but there's several levels of denial that need to be worked through first, like understanding that endlessly obsessing over "being judged" and constantly seeking for comfort and reassurance from everyone around you while you scream and cry daily... is not exactly a normal or good way to exist.
