If you have a car, SLC is the greatest 100k+ pop city to live in probably on the planet if you like going outside. You could go on a <5 hour drive camping trip every weekend for your whole life and you'll be the only one there, and you'll never see the same types of landscapes/ecosystems twice. The climate gradient across the state allows you to do this year round.
