you may as well give up and become a perma neet
>>
You don't need a traditional career or need education. You can make any type of employment work for your needs.
I started doing digital customer support for a company and turned it into a data analysis job using SQL after I identified a need, taught myself how to do it and pitched it to my boss. Its not a career or something I can fully make a life out of yet, but I'm halfway there
>>
>>84573490
I spent my 20s studying for and pursuing a career that I was not cut out for, and in retrospect I was only doing it to make my father proud, because his interest in that field was about the only way I could get him to take an interest in my future.
I washed out of that life and like you I have nothing as I get closer to 40. I'm paralyzed by the knowledge that even if I pivoted into something, its too late to make anything meaningful out of my life.
>>
>>84574212
Even at 40 you're still going to be working for another 30 years at least. You might as well pivot into something now.
>>
>>84574223
I have no skills, no talents, no interests, no abilities beyond "I can show up on time." Which isn't enough for how competitive things are. I cant network because I've been isolated for so long.
And that's just white collar. Begining as a tradie is a young mans game, and i'm too inept even if I was. And a wagie? there's no future there, and I'm competing with teenagers who are already having their future burned in front of their eyes.
I still have a few more years til 40, but its a looming specter. I'm just gonna live through my savings then be a hobo or some shit

What was that career? If you don't mind me asking

start an e-business, it is probably best suited to nerds like us and it seems fairly obvious AI is the next big thing

literally every day spend several hours reading up on what other people are doing, not grifters on youtube or multi-level marketing schemes or stupid shit like that, I mean learn marketable programming languages, try to start your own website, AI and stackexchange can guide you on how to solve typical programming problems, github provides a platform, your website and places like reddit allow you to get the credit for your work

once you have a well rounded set of skills try to create useful tools for people, perhaps using AI, not even for profit to begin with, just as a learning experience, kind of like a university thesis where you have to research, analyze or invent something original, make sure you publish it in several places and get the full credit as there are many indians and the like who will plagiarize your work

after a while ideas to make money will come to you, someone might even want to hire you or partner with you, if your creations become well known, even if just within some narrow niche like python databases or whatever, making money is even more difficult and hazardous, your product must not only work, people must be willing to pay you for it, you can put a load of ads all over your website but this will mean many people won't both going there again, similar for games or apps or whatever, you have to balance it instead of 'jeeting out if you want the bigger success instead of just lots of failed little cash mills

importantly, psychologically, you need to get into it, you need to put out of your head all preoccupation of interest and learn to enjoy the hustle, to ignore your past failures, the fact you are 40

you have about 20 years think of how much you can accomplish just doing chores for an hour, now imagine 84000

I don't wanna be too specific, but it was glownigger adjacent. I got a very niche humanities degree because I had convinced myself that was my career path, but I just wasn't cut out for it. I absolutely made mistakes, didn't put enough effort in, but I think I knew deep down it wasn't for me

nigga typed AI in this post like 10 fucking times. We get it, you're a jeet.

Did you ever hear what Tucker Carlson's dad does for a living? It reminds me of what you just said about your dad.
>>
>>84574431
yeah I did, wild stuff. I applied to a few places like that.
And to be clear, my dad wasn't in that arena at all. He was just a typical Bush era boomer who thought all that stuff was "cool," and he really only started to notice and be proud when I began that track. All so he could brag and live vicariously through me.

I went back to college for an IT diploma in my 30's and graduated just in time for Trump to wreck the economy and AI to wreck entry level positions. It's not like there's no jobs anymore, but I just have a diploma, and I'm a recovering neet with massive holes in my resume, and I'm also an autist, so I'm going to be the last to be considered for any position.

I'm not really looking for IT jobs anymore. I'm hoping to get into some kind of food processing place. Those jobs will be the hardest to automate and offshore.

Do you ever feel like there is a "good" timeline where we achieve what we wanted and are happy, and we are just in some cursed timeline?
>>
>>84574566
I would like to think so. So that somewhere out there, there is a "me" that is content with how things turned out. Maybe my life suffered so his could be great.
I think about inflection points all the time, both for my life and decisions, and globally.

>just have a diploma
>massive holes in resume

Story of my life

Silly anon, why else do you think they want to immigration churning? So they don't have to pay you for that job
>>
>>84574740
Yeah, there was a massive chicken plant built in my city recently, and one of the points of pride that the company likes to advertise is that there's a multi-faith prayer room at the plant. So, the place was built for Muslim migrants. Maybe I can help dispel the myth that white people won't work these jobs. But whatever, I have no faith in my country anymore. I'm just going to save as much I can for retirement. Inevitably some brown girl will be cleaning my diapers when I'm like 80.
>>
>>84574804
>multi-faith prayer room
hey, maybe you can do some obnoxious flying spaghetti monster stuff in there, force them to stop that! jk anon, don't do anything to get fired when (I believe in you) get that job

>>
>>84573490
in your boat, just with a stable wagie job. Its not much better, just a bit of extra money. The dull- and emptiness remain.
>>
I'm going to a job fair tomorrow. Sucks I can't shower because it just got painted, but I doubt it matters anyway. I'm ugly and autistic.
