But again, this is wildly optimistic and ignores all other factors that lead to him reaching for the sandwich. Maybe he can't afford that dinner, maybe he's satisfied enough with it, and maybe he doesn't want to put with the women's behavior in his area. The opposite is fundamentally true, if you can't make the experience better than that, then he won't do it. Now you have a generation like gen Z where half the men haven't even asked a girl out. While I have criticisms of movies like Blade Runner, it's a very good analogy for what it's like to live such a giant, swirling, and bizarre techno society. It's supposed to make your life better but down on the street you face harassment from street urchins, government and corporate systems that are just way to big, lethargic, and apathetic to care. You can nitpick the films endlessly but it's a very accurate representation of urban life in most Western countries. Surrounded by people and dazzling lights but terminally sick and lonely, living amongst people who hate you, and realizing you're just another number. Your kids will live worse than you if you're not rich. I virtually guarantee they will, they already basically do. Nothing will change, we'll probably face some type of soft collapse in the next decade or so. Followed by a harder one later on. But that's just my optimism, it could all end in 5-10 years if we're not as lucky.
