have any of you seen obsession? curious to see what robots thought of it

when i comes to GOOD movies, what most people dont understand is that biographies are written for characters before they are inserted into the script

those biographies help create a slew of multifaceted characters tend to love or hate, as opposed to surface level boring commerical bullshit aimed for the masses that arent interesting at all

but most people watch movies to past the time

i watch them as character studies, try to figure out why they do the things they do in a period of two hour

so to engage with a person who watches movies as a past time is useless because they dont understand the subtext needed to build that character
>>
>>84637185
>hecking literally me self insert shit
>>
in EVERY movie, a character has a motive

discussing what that characters motivation is with a normie doesnt fly with them because that shit literally flies over their head

again, subtext, it doesnt matter with these people

so, in regards to movies, everything has its purpose

the color red has a purpose

but ask normies why red was choosen as a color palette

their answer is: durrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr red
>>
>>84637267
to be fair, you have to have a high IQ to understand kino
>>
>>84637266
are you bear or nikki
>>
>>84637140
i am slowly becoming daniel
>>
thats why i keep my mouth shut when it comes to movies

people are just too stupid to be able to peel back the layers of a movie for the sake of discussion

a scene, a character, the color palette, the reason why characters do what they do...

all of this takes months to constructed in order to tell a coherent story that normies just ignore

its insulting really

like have some appreciation for art

please

>everything has its purpose
gay
> motive
why do people only care about fictional motives
no one tries to understand real people
not in any real way i don't think

society.. society..

you doing okay there bro?
did something happen?

i used to watch a lot of movies. Ive watched most movies worth watching that came out after the 1960s. i dont really like movies from before the 60s, hitchcock movies are really good and a couple of the noir movies are too, but that traditional type of acting they use in those movies has aged horribly. best movie ive watched from before the 60s is rope by hitchcock, strangers on a train is probably #2

how did you like the Nightmare Alley remake?
>>
>>84637323
in regards to movies, everything does has a purpose

you ever watch scene in a movie, and go, what the heck was that? and that scene was never addressed again or it wasnt given an answer?

no, because those scenes are considered to be throwaways - add-ons that add nothing to the story, only adds confusion if inserted into the movie
>>
>>84637388
i havent watched either. ive watched the third man, maltese falcon, sunset blvrd, double indemnity and a couple others i dont remember
>>
>>84637391
>you ever watch scene in a movie, and go, what the heck was that? and that scene was never addressed again or it wasnt given an answer?
yeah

i, just think, 'gay' beacuse ive never hear anything more than pointless drivel
>his sweater was blue and he was sad oohh the attention to detail
>>
what normies dont understand is this

lets say a movie is two hours long

well, those two hours, believe or not, consist of the most interesting portions of each of the characters lives that you see on screen

so its important to pay attention to what you see, because what you see offers insight of what happened before the movie begins and after when it ends
>>
but i dont talk about movies

i keep that shit to myself
>>
pick up a camera and make a movie

and when you watch the dailies youll come to realize, was does it look like SHIT

why does everything look like absolute shit

well, that answer to that is simple

everything has a purpose in film

when you dont give it purpose

it looks like shit

when it comes to horror

what setting would you chose for a forest scene

left or right

now, the answer is fairly obvious

but a person whos never made a film wouldve never guessed that adding fog adds an unknown atmospheric element that doesnt allow the viewer to see clearly which adds dread onto the scene

whats why things matter or have purpose in film
>>
>>84637699
thats* why things matter
>>
go into a dark room

and look into a corner

your mind immediately puts a monster in that dark corner when you know theres nothing there - crazy how the mind works, right

anyways...

a smart filmmaker takes the macabre your mind creates and puts it in film

a person who doesnt know how to make a horror film, never wouldve guessed to make a corner of a room dark

its is why everything you see in film matters

it all serves a purpose
