I've watched thousands of hours of police bodycam footage and throughout that time one thing has become overwhelmingly clear: if these guys weren't cops, they would be criminals. The entire institution of policing is fundamentally about businesses getting together, hiring a bunch of thugs, and starting a racket. The psychology behind it, how people justify such obviously unethical behavior, is really interesting. Read some of Foucault's stuff like Discipine & Punishment to learn more. With the right authority, it's possible to make even the most sadistic public torture and executions permissible. What makes a headsman different than the serial killer whose neck he's chopping? How do we qualify some violence and condemn others?

It's like it's simple and there's no dread at all, and none of the negativity that comes with basing your actions off of despising what the people you love do with themselves. So even if it meant I wouldn't exist I would 100% support sterilizing people with a criminal history, probably throw in low iq and maybe low income just to make sure you cover it all. It would certainly upend the economy but it's not like it's realistic anyway, maybe automation could sort all of the kinks out in the future.
