Just get Windows 10 IoT LTSC and an open-source firewall (Fort Firewall or Simplewall). Block everything from going online except your web browser and whatever chat apps you use. Windows is very bad for privacy by default, but with only a few tweaks, it can be fixed. Much easier to do those tweaks than to switch to Linux.
Linux is good, I use CachyOS on my gaming PC, but the software selection on Linux still holds it back and makes it a non-option for a lot of people. I organize porn and edit video...can't do that on Linux because all Linux video editing software is rubbish. DaVinci Resolve would be great but it doesn't support H264...making it useless/cumbersome for me.
The problem with Linux isn't the OS anymore...it's the lack of good software.

Kdenlive is just buggy in my experience. It spits out very low quality renders for no good reason sometimes, even when I set the bit rate high. It also lacks features I use in DaVinci Resolve on Windows. It's simply not good enough. I need Resolve to work on Linux, without the crippling H264 limitation.

i've seen press releases where they specifically say it was 'manga-style drawings', but yeah, you're right: USUALLY it only says 'including category x images' and then that person's forever a nonce.
i'd agree with a legal change there. maybe even give the nonce the option for it to be disclosed when it was illustrations only, or at least make it a separate crime.
