I thought things would be different for me in my field of work since I was working with kids, but an administrator tried to make me change details to a mandated report about sexual abuse because the girl is a "bullshiter" and her family "pulls shit like this all time"
people in my position could go to jail or get slapped with a heavy fine for not reporting this kind of thing, so obviously I did it. I also documented and reported the boss trying to coerce me to alter an official report. Thing is, nothing positive came out of it, it got swept under the rug, my contract was non-renewed, then the boss tried to get my credentials revoked (unsuccessfully), but it still signaled to other employers that I would be difficult to work with so all the years of school I did meant fuck all

that's harrowing. i was more referring to petty infighting amongst coworkers which is comparatively nothing.
based on my own experiences and the anecdotes of others i can only come to the conclusion that the systems intended to identify and prevent child abuse are nearly useless and rarely accomplish anything productive. it's hard to shake the feeling that it's largely intentional; too many powerful people with a dismissive "i suffered, so will you" view, or simple conflicts of interest (worsened reputation=bad business). sorry you had to bear witness to this sick earth in such an intimate way.
