People support movements like feminism because they make a rather large assumption that it will help. Of course they think this because they always claim to not because they done some thorough examination of the outcomes which would be far too much work. Then when they realize it doesn't do anything that benefits them (and may in fact be hurting them) they give it up and balance back towards the same place as always. That is basic biology you can learn in grade school which dictates the behavior of all life as we know it.
