>>84789331ATDRW (I think that was the name of the forum for anime on Something Awful) disallowed lolicon which was one of the main reasons for the creation of 4chan if I recall. 4chan actually had a lolicon board in its first year but it was removed after people were using it to post actually illegal shit involving real children. Most "oldfags" as they were in that era were humorless trannies in the same vein as the Something Awful user base already was and would become even worse in. The style of humor on 4chan changed from pretentious and browbeating Something Awful humor and curmudgeonposting to its own thing upon a new and more interesting userbase taking over after events such as Chanology. The de-emphasis on the anime aspect of the website was succeeded by a huge improvement in post quality, humor style, and originality.
