People do it out of tradition and not much else.The deeper answer is that most people know excessive cussing is low IQ and makes you look like a dumb loud animal. It's uncivilized and improper, so most parents generally don't want their kids to so it reflects better on them as parents. A kid that swears may be funny, but most everyone will also look at the parents like they're abusing the child just by letting them curse.
