So today in the morning I would have had to present my bachelors thesis. I had not prepared a presentation. My .pptx was around 80% done. But I had not practiced the text yet. So i literally stayed home and didn't tell anyone. My advisor was waiting there. I didn't inform him. I was totally panicking.

So anyway. I can try again next year. And now I need a new topic and I need to write a whole new thesis.

How are your academic projects going?
Are you working on it currently?
What are your thesis topics?

Procrastination my cg masters thesis right now, why did you have to remind me

i understand your pain, it's hell being socially anxious + a chronic procrastinator. it's a shame you had done so much work already as well.
i missed an important course today, you had to write two essays, and i was starting with the first one yesterday when i realized i had waited for too long to officially join the course, and i can't enroll anymore, the deadline is in 3 days (yes i was planning to do it in 3 days working 24/7 and have gotten good grades with less work). this is one of the last ones i absolutely have to do before i graduate, and i have to wait 6 months before the course is happening again. i'm in pain.

I strongly recommend, you do it earlier than you would like to. It is important to finish on time.
If you want to we can hop on DC and I help you study / organize.

I appreciate it anon. I think I'll be fine, I managed to get an alright bachelor's done too.
I just have to get out the programming part of it, the writing will be easier I'm sure, but I still have about a month left until I should start writing

I gave up and just ghosted my university haha
>>
Dude. ChatGPT could have finished it for you in 5 minutes and write you a complete speech script that you'd just read off the screen in presenter mode. You'd get a ribbon for this if you let it work for you.

NTA, but I'm on a research project and our prof has failed two people for AI generated text over the past year and got them straight up expelled. No push back from admin either. Not worth the risk.
>>
>>84830516
sorry to hear anon. Tbh you should just make ppt. look finished with few taking points and go there. If you did the thesis you probably know enough to do it. I did it regulary in my student days and still do it as a wagie (including meetings with higher ups). Its allways better even if you fuck up a bit then to bail, or at least get good excuse like paper from doctor or something.

He did 80%, the other 20% would fly imho. Anyway, it's better than not coming to your defense, lol.

thx for contributing to my thread, I rarely make a thread on this board.

Regarding AI use. I actually used AI. I used Claude to make plots and do much of the work. I also used it to answer some questions. But I felt like I shouldn't let it write a whole speech, because this would have been noticed. If I read of an entierly AI generated speech my professor wouldn't like that.
So i tried to write my own text, but bc of my ADHD i didn't finish on time.

That's bad anon, I hope you will do better next time, or improve yourself in better way heh

>How are your academic projects going?
Badly. I had to send a first chapter of my masters until end of May, but unfortunately don't really give a damn about it, my supervisor too. So, I hadn't sent it yet.
>Are you working on it currently?
May in summer I will do, or not. Thinking more about getting a full time job and dropping that shit.

uhm depending on how good you are with your professors you could cry in front of him and ask if you go do the presentation again, wouldn't be the first and the last time a prof gave someone an extension
>>
>>84830660
Yes, my pptx was almost finished, but I didn't really know what to say infront of all these people. (multiple professors and students were there) (lots of scary for a robot like me)
>>84830657
I did do the thesis, yes. The topic was on simulations of quantum networks. The code and math was *mostly* done by Claude. And although i had a good grasp of the topic I didn't feel like i could talk about it and explain fluently.
But thanks, for your inputs, I appreciate it.
>>

The embarassing part is I already postponed it KEK. I was supposed to do it 2 weeks ago. And I asked for an extension. The 1st time my prof. was kinda nice about it. But enough is enough.

I hope you find a nice job, that you are happy with.
Do you want to share you thesis /title?

Thats a shame, even if you did bad presentation you would probably pass. In work setting there are offten people who dont talk fluently on presentations (if they dont do it regulary) or in meetings, in international ones some have so strong accents its not understandable (and they are not jeets). But I understand its hard if you are anxious, I usually just kinda get myself to start and then it goes, even if Im not talking fluently and stumble from time to time or cant find words (it happens when talking in foreign language). But Im too lazy to learn the speech or have it written except main talking points, and dont care that much about form as long as the point get across.
>>
>>84830748
i mean you go nothing to lose, it's either humiliating yourself a lil bit and having the chance of doing the presentation or having to write another thesis
>>

Or get a doctors notice, tho you should had done it right away, as its weird you couldnt call in sick with a cold or something.

If you are officially diagnosed allready maybe show it to prof and tell you had an pannic attack (which is true) or get a therapist to write it for you.

I would do anything to set everyone responsible for the current job market on fire
