Think about it from her perspective- she made a mistake when he admits they were struggling. He is leaving out what it was about. She had her foot halfway out the door but reigned herself back in and buckled down for years. She even forgot to hide the evidence. I think it would have been crueler for her to tell him about it for no reason. And yeah I'm biased but sometimes the situation is more complicated than you think it is. Say, he accidentally caused something she cherished to die, or lost her an amazing opportunity, or broke her trust in a different way. An affair can feel like a warm fire in the arctic of relationship loneliness especially when it feels impossible to solve. You want a respite. She realized it wasn't that and she needed to build her own fire back up. Guy needs to either forgive her and move on or break up not continually punish her for it
