>Recovering from woman I'd fallen in love with after we were close for nearly a decade cutting me off entirely and vanishing from my life
>Get into social media at request of therapist to "Talk to more people with my interests"
>Start flirting with woman I met via Twitter (First mistake)
>This is not a bot or a fake account, this is an account that had been active for 5 years and we'd already done voice and video calls
>We had even joked about the fact she proved she wasn't an Indian guy because she was eating a burger in one of the calls
>Had a decently-sized following (7.5k) and was monetized
>Randomly deactivates account saying she'd reactivate it in a couple days
>Been two weeks since
>This is now time number 10 where someone I'd grown close to has decided to completely pull out of my life without explanation
I think at this point it's a hint from God to stop socializing. I shall morph into some kind of internet slug that can only scroll and not type.

sorry to hear that, anon. we're all on the internet RIGHT NOW but i think people confuse it for real life too much. social media has shifted the way people think.

i recently spoke to an autistic dude IRL and we were talking about internet shit. i mentioned i didn't like Twitter (i just don't). he got upset, like it was something he had to defend. he did make the very reasonable point he uses it because he struggles with socialization, and Twitter was his way of getting SOMETHING. that's totally fair.

however, it's probably worth thinking in 'old internet' terms. one day, you'll join an IRC channel, and a user won't be there. i'd even argue you should have a 'right to vanish', rather than people tracking you down as if you're real-life friends.

Pretty much

I'd say to OP: relax. Unplug from social media, try to meet people IRL doing activities you like.
