They had come to respect eachother's strength and competence. If either Guts or Casca was gushing over the other or clamoring about wanting someone like a Guts or Casca, it would have given the other an intense disgust and repulsion. They were traumatized individuals that had only ever known a hard life. To find a person like Guts you yourself would have had to have the competency and skill to have made something of your life to where you wouldn't be on 4chan right now asking about how to find a man like Guts. Her personality is formed as a survival mechanism in response to trauma and being surrounded by strong willed brutes all her life. You can however develop a strong sense of self, independence and pride. You might not find a guy exactly like Guts, but respecting yourself and making something of yourself will attract men, some of which might be similar to Guts. The thing about women like Casca, is that irl, they're almost always treated like dykes or attacked for being bitches if they don't have the chops to back it up.
