Why do you think you ended up on 4chan instead of reddit? What conditions shaped you? Or do you think it was nature more than nurture?
>>85705297reddit is very neutered and too controllingI can mostly post whatever here
>>85705297It's because people on reddit are corny and only say the approved things. People on 4chan seem to not care and I can actually consider what they are saying as an original thought.
>>85705306Alright this thread is getting problematic, this only effects 0.1% of people and if you care this much you have some problems***LOCKED***
>>85705297I was introduced to this place by the foid grooming me
reddit's website design is horrible and i hate it and the people there are of a certain type that give me the ick.
>>85705297>>85705306>>85705309Pretty much this. I used Reddit quite a bit during high school and I think it made my life worse desu. I've been on 4chan in some capacity since I was 13 or 14, but didn't really start using it until I got into the /pol/ stuff around age 17 or so. People talk shit about this place, but it's honestly done more good for me than any other social media or social media adjacent site. It got me /fit/, taught me how to take better care of myself, and is a nice reprieve from the constant hotness coming from tik tok and instagram. People on here are genuinely authentic, which is nice, even if they are often times having some kind of mental episode whenever they post.
>>85705332>that give me the ick.You should be on reddit yourself
>>85705297They would ban me within 10 posts. I'm too much for them. Who is he fucking btw? Is that Miyoko?>
>>85705306meh, you can post anything you want here but that doesn't mean people will like it and they might even be outright hostile. i've started to realize reddit and 4chan are actually quite similar in that regard in that they both have a laundry list of behaviors they do not really tolerate or entertain
>>85705297Because reddit didn't exist when I got on 4chan.
>>85705399the difference is, that people here actually have their own opinion. People on reddit don't.
>>85705421uh, no not really. people here are basically just as as hiveminded as reddit and for every dissenter you see here there's on reddit. i mean just look at le nazi meme, it's a confirmed way to get a 'based' response
>>85705442You've been on /pol/ too much. No one gives a shit about nazis outside of /pol/
>>85705332>Give me the ickFaggot.
>>85705297I use both thougheverbeit
>>85705297Reddit banned me every time I made a funny
>>85705306>>85705309>>85705332>>85705411>>85705361These. I prefer to interact with actual humans and judge them by merit of their posts on topic at hand, not post history tied to nickname because one person might have good ideas or be knowledgable on one thing, but be absolute shitter at the other.>inb4 botsBoth sites are full of them.>>85705382I got permabanned within month for simply bringing up double standards of british police.>>85705399That's just human nature, deal with it. If you care too much about opinion of complete strangers you will never meet irl, meaning they have no real impact on your life, you haven't grown up enough to use internet in the first place. On 4chan you just get shat on by some posts with no consequences while on shittid you'll be deprieved of voice.>>85705442t. uses only 2-3 boards>inb4 you can make own sub tooReddit has history of locking or removing whole subs they don't like. If there is something they don't like but it's "too big", they just neuter it with individual bans.Go make some nazi jokes on /mu/ or /tv/ and see how it goes.
>>85705457OP's pic is literally a nazi image. i've tested this myself and seen it go down independently of me. nazi content is definitely an easy way to solicit attention on this site. kind of funny too how you can go to any board and there is going to be a cookie cutter template of what the user like and don't like
Reddit would tell you that youre not allowed to call YOUR black girlfriend a nigger. Imagine being commanded around by blue hair freaks.
>>85705490>That's just human nature, deal with it. If you care too much about opinion of complete strangers you will never meet irl, meaning they have no real impact on your life, you haven't grown up enough to use internet in the first place.>On 4chan you just get shat on by some posts with no consequences while on shittid you'll be deprieved of voice.so basically, the sites are the exact same but since you're anonymous and don't have a post history here it just doesn't matter as much, got it
>>85705500Okay? Like i said, no one cares, so my point still stands.
>>85705500>people tend to form communities with others like themNo shit sherlock, wait until you learn it's universal behavior and you won't see birds of different species sitting on one branch. If you dig deeper you might even find out why multiculturalism and immigration made such a mess, why humans and apes have wars, and why competition is common thing in life.>>85705516No. The way you handle human nature creates entirely different outcomes. On 4chan it's much more unfiltered, meaning you can see actual human behavior there. People have bad and good days. Some are shitters by nature, some are decent folk, and some are simply pathetic losers. Because people don't have to censor themselves, you get wider variety of opinions to consider even within constraints of similar people gathering together naturally. You get to interact with actual, true nature. You get to see the truth about humans. Doesn't mean you get to read truth because people will sometimes larp or lie for attention or fun.On shittid you get whatever neutered shit they allow. You can argue that this removes lot of conflict, creating grounds for more meritocratic approach within confines of specific topics, but at the same time it limits it. Look up naked king story.4chan has higher entry bar to get something valuable out of it since you have to filter out shit yourself and actually think, compare different opinions you'll see, but also has higher potential of value due to less limits. Shittid is the opposite which is why AI was trained on it: it's easy to get default info. Training AI on 4chan requires much more effort to filter for something useful, but models trained on it act more human. Someone made such test iirc and 4chan-based models scored higher in authenticity or something at the cost of telling user he's a faggot. There is no best answer for everything. Anonimity allows cheaper shilling. It can be done on shittid too but it is more time-costly as you need to build accounts for it.
I always detested the karma system with a passion. I thought that it led to disingeuousness of conversation, and that it would inevitably lead to shills posting things for karma. I posted on stuff like SomethingAwful or the Gamefaqs message boards before posting here. I valued the anonymous nature of conversations here.I would rather wallow through endless streams of shitposting and people posting things, if it meant I could get people to be a little bit more truthful. I valued the authenticity that some of the smaller boards could have. You cannot get that on reddit. It inevitably leads to self-censorship and people are so wary of what subreddits they are associated with or their post history, that you get a very inauthentic discussion place. It's made worse now, by the vast amounts of brigading and shilling that happens on the platform. If I go on it without one of my main accounts logged in (I never post), I get an anyeurysm by the blatant poltical bias by the supposedly "neutral" subreddits. Blatant karma bots and mods abusing power just ruins the boards. We have seen what happens when all information is walled behind on reddit as well. When people are started closing their subreddits down due to the monetization changes of the app, people just started locking subreddits down. It became impossible to access information any longer. The problems with the image hosting there too -- vast amounts of information are lost to time now.4chan has grown bad with the vast amounts of shills and things now. It's hard to have a conversation. I would argue that the main pages of reddit are far worse, as it's blatant propaganda and misinformation. I tended to gravitate here more as I could say what I mean without being ridiculed as I was shielded by a degree of anonymity. That's the whole point. It doesn't matter at the end of the day what boards i post on or who i am. The words said have to evaluated individually. That's a blessing and a curse.
>>85705297The guy in this picture is me except without the Hitler worship. I have chud-tier opinions on feminism but I couldn't give a shit about wehraboo faggotry. I still think it would have been better if America had done worse in WWII because of all the feminist cancer America promotes, but I don't give a fuck about Hitler. Also the jews are right about normalfags.
>>85705622>nu uh the site isn't a hive mind>no shit it's a hivemind, that's human naturei also disagree that you really see true human nature here. a lot [groups] have a vested interested in trying to promote the view that, actually, everyone in the world really has the same perspective on things and they only restrict themselves from talking about it because we need to cater to low iq people who can't handle conflict. people very much want it to be the case that anonymity breeds malcontent because then it throws shade on any community that doesn't allow anonymity by putting forward the thesis that "these people aren't telling you the truth, we are though"a lot of the 'conflict' on 4chan is actually just useless machismo in service of the prevailing worldview and philosophy. not to say reddit is much better, they are often obsessed with being morally superior or better justified than other people they disagree with, and the algorithm will definitely try to force you to look at people fighting with each other (so in light of that i also disagree with a lot of what you are saying). you're gonna have to think of a really good argument if you want to convince me the key difference isn't being able to say nigger, for example.you're right that there's no best answer really. however my initial post was just a claim that the two sites are more similar than they seem, and ultimately the critical difference is in the functionality and also the light/dark or mild/spicy preferenceanyway it's kind of pointless to belabor because dark n spicy is starting to take over reddit anyway
>>85705660Show us your ebony or larp
>>85705718It's called fucking evolution. To evolve large structures like growing new set of limbs you need fuckloads of years with constant environmental pressure for it. Smaller structures like neural connections in our brains change rapidly as response to information from environment, and even those connections that are already formed for good and won't change, can be sometimes repurposed. Because brain is nothing more than tool for running tiny electric pulses and chem. That's what allows for creation of new shit. It creates both good and bad ideas. When unfiltered you will get random ideas that will sometimes get squashed or spread like fire, just like memes on the internet. The difference is in the wild judgement is done by practicality and how good this idea can defend itself against already established shit. When you add limiting human interference that serves as judge, you can get artifical cap and end up with naked king scenario. Also by human nature I meant people doing both good, bad and neutral. Formation of hiveminds is just part of broader nature, and in humans it's actually much weaker due to our strong abstract thinking capabilities. And I just described above that hiveminds aren't eternal. There is also matter of usefulness of unwanted traits for survival purposes in general population, which is why you don't want to completely kill off shitty behavior, but that's another topic. As for promoting views, it's actually natural competition of information. Our DNA, which is basically instruction on how our whole bodies are built and work, this includes limitations of brain and pre-defined tendencies, competes for survival. There are only so many genes you can squeeze within human so convincing others to your opinions wins over cooperation that increases chances of survival and is signal to other people sharing similar genetic tendencies you are one of them, allowing better mating chances and passing similar genes. Our bodies are merely vessels for info
>>85705812hmm, i never really thought of it that way. you've given me something to think about
>>85705314Online or irl foid?
>>85705297Because reddit didnt exist when I found 4chan.
>>85705829I simply like to listen to lectures on biology, behavioral evolution and sometimes psychology as background for some mindless games. When you learn enough, everything starts to connect together into one, reasonable model that aligns with what you see in reality. Though it involves bunch of stuff people don't like to hear about, like free will being just bullshit simplification, religion being bullshit but despite it still being mostly good and useful, gives reasonable purpose and justification for ethonationalism, removes lot of magic and mythical romance from the world and undermines lot of idealistic worldviews. And it's no wonder. Humans don't excel at anything besides abstract thinking and maybe stamina thanks to sweating system, but you can argue birds are up there too. This allows to simulate scenarios in our brains and pre-detemine to some degree how good they are, potentially sparing us trying them in reality and dying. This means we're basically simulating evolution in abstract form and try to apply best paths we can think of to reality to deal with real problems. But since evolution spawns failed paths as well, it's basically natural competition between differences, some of our idels, behaviors and customs are destined to die off, just like many species died off even before humans appeared, die off currently, either because of humans or despite our efforts to preserve them, and will be dying in the future. Most people have hard time giving up ideals and paths they invested so many years of their life into, build their lives around, and prosperity in peacetime doesn't produce enough motivation to adapt.Think whether this opportunity to think about it of any value, because there is a chance on shittid you wouldn't hear about it on most subs precisely due to implications of inevitability of ethnonationalism or natural, genetic limitations which clash with humanee idea you can save everyone and that all behaviors and cultures are equally good.
>>85705297Reddit used to encourage controversial opinions and real discussions. Now it's just a main stream media circle jerk where mods shadow ban/karma gate/etc. 4chan is probably at least 60% bots, but I can have an adult opinion at least.
