>>12565410mantis shrimp are very cool, here are some fun facts:A mantis shrimp's punch generates a brief temperature of over 4,400°C (8,000°F)The mantis shrimp's hammer-like appendage strikes with incredible speed, accelerating faster than a .22 caliber bullet. The mantis shrimp possesses the fastest strike in the animal kingdom, a lightning-fast punch that can reach speeds of up to 50 miles per hour.Mantis shrimp possess complex eyes with the most color receptors in the animal kingdom (12 to 16 types), allowing them to detect ultraviolet and polarized light, which humans cannot perceive.
>>12565379>Mimic octopuses stand out from other octopus species because of their extraordinary ability to mimic and imitate a wide variety of species. Most species that are able to mimic can only mimic a single animal, whereas the mimic octopus can switch between various disguises: up to 18 different marine animals. They do this not by just changing their color, but also their shape and behavior.the fact that it seems to be more than just a basic automatic camouflage is impressive, like it's actually somewhat aware of the behavior patterns of animals around it and choosing what to do? thanks for sharing
probably a boring pic but my favorite animals are owls
>>12565419LOL
>>12565440owlels are great, the way they can move their heads 180 degrees is crazy, and their eyes at night are scary, without their fur they look like little dinosaurs, and i really love the hoots they make... i never see them but i hear them sometimes at night.
>>12565426fuck mantis shrimp i saw one bully a helpless crab for no reason but too bad nature doesn’t pick on prey their own size bitch ass niggas
>>12565426theres 2 variations of mantis shrimp too, the one with the mantis arms instead of the punching clubs is what they get the name from, its so interesting to me that its basically the same animal with 2 different sets of tools, one specializing in hunting soft bodied prey an the other on punchin lil and big hard shell doods to eat. So cool and pretty guys>>12565428YEAH THEY ARE AWESOME SUPER FASCINATING I THINK IM GLAD U FEEL THE SAME, THEY SEEM SO INTELLIGENT>>12565440I loev owls so much, I'm lucky enough to be blessed to have found multiple owls perching while I was out hiking
