That's what pissed me off about Baldur's Gate 3. Shar worshippers are like a cult, and Larian could've depicted them realistically as a doomsday cult that attracts abuse and trauma victims that WANT their memory erased. But instead they go with them kidnapping children and forcibly wiping their mrmory. Plus they go out of their way to make the Cult of Shar cartoonishly evil in Act 2, when they are just supposed to worship silence, darkness and oblivion. They want to feel nothing and they want others to feel nothing, so it makes zero sense for them to be psychopath torturers.
