As a self proclaimed cinephile my're favourite movie film is Starship Troopers for its balance of having a point and being entertaining.But recently I've thought of the extremes of this possition.My're favourite dumbass movie being purely entertainment without having any philosophical value is Reign of Fire.
The least entertaining movie film in the other extreme would be Solaris. rly makes u think but is a slog

Reign of fire YOOO DRAGONS(yooooo)The man from U.N.C.L.E YOO SPIES LOL but actually has something to say about the cold war being less of a good vs evil story than you might think at first whichever side you come from.Starship TroopersCan be enjoyed as a pure action film with cool guys shooting the bad bugs.Awesome.Can also be enjoyed from an anti fascist lens understanding that Verhoeven portrays the baddies as hyperbolically cool guys to the point where you cannot take them seriously. Also has the only romance subplot that matters in any film I have ever seen, the point (joke) being that Dizzy and Rico are perfect for each other, so are Zander and Carmen but because of fascism and war one of each pair is dead so Rico And Carmen end up together being the leftovers.Fucking, the perfect film.All Quiet on the western front (30s version) the film is better than the book because of the trick putting the audience in the boots of the characters making them think its initially going to be a cool war film by just following the main guys for long enough while they go through boot camp having fun until it turns into absolute misery. Solaris, brotherman there is too much to unpack here. He tried to send her home but she wasn't her.
