The domesticated silkworm (Bombyx mori) is incapable of living without the care of humans. It's been bred to differ so much from it's original species, the mulberry silkworm, that it is considered a different species. It has wings but cannot fly, it is stupid and lacks self preservation instinct and will merely die to predators that they are unresponsive to or change in climate. Besides this they have been one of the most influential domesticated livestock supporting huge silk based textile industry and being the causation of the Silk Road. Stupid little bug with an ever reaching presence in our history, what an absolutely stupid and remarkable existence
