actually this is a common misrepresentation based on popular media like movies and television that unrealistically depict snipers as often going for headshots. in reality, training always instructs you to aim for the center of mass which is where the biggest and easiest target to hit will be so a sniper is going to more likely aim for the torso due to its size and less movement
