Thoughts on Sleeping Dogsinb4 "go to /v/", no, they're rude.-fun melee combat with plenty of different combos and environmental kills-vehicles feel great to control-lots of side content outside of the main story-the races are fun-Hong Kong makes for an interesting setting-the protagonist is likeable-the cutscenes and story are engaging enough that I don't skip past them-clothing stores all have unique clothing (I can't tell you how disappointing it is when clothing stores in games all share the same items)-lots of cool unlockable outfits and vehicles-convenient taxis around the place for fast travel that doesn't feel immersion breaking-I like that your choices affect whether the cops trust you or the triads dowhat I don't like about Sleeping Dogs:-context sensitive buttons-linear mission structures that fail you for approaching them creatively-the game loves taking away your guns for no reason, start a mission, suddenly your gun is gone-no borderless fullscreen-no jump button (just a context sensitive vault)-fences can't be broken, forcing you to drive around them-while food/"massage" buffs are a cool idea, it feels like there's no reason not to have three buffs stacked at once, rebuffing just feels like a chore rather than a fun mechanic-while I am not complaining about the sexy men in this game, it really does feel like they steal the show over the fairly vanilla and forgettable women -was clearly made with controller in mind, which it works great with, but I wouldn't even bother trying to play it without one-probably a wayland specific issue but while open, it stops my screenshot software from functioning correctly
it was a great game i should replay it one of these days
