the orientation of a picture is stored in the metadata, which 4chan scrubs on upload to prevent you from doxxing yourself (geolocation is also stored in metadata because we live in a cyberpunk dystopia)
i always just screenshot any pictures i take if i wanna upload them to 4chins, especially since i usually have to compress them anyway
