I'm a freshman in a STEM course and I'm struggling with all of my classes, I think I'm going to fail them all. I got a blood work and saw that my testosterone is at 35ng/dL, my SHBG is at 40.

What is to blame for my poor performance? Low IQ or low-T?

I'm not a mathematician but as far as I understand calculus is just unintuitive, you just have to bear memorizing all the rules and symbol manipulation even though they don't make much sense to pass the course to the next level and get a job in the future.

If you want to intuitively understand calculus you'll probably have to do it in your own time because the teachers probably won't bother. But you probably won't have much time because calculus is hard so I guess just wait until after you've completed the calculus course and exams.

Luckily you don't have to understand symbols to do manipulations of them you don't really know the meaning of.

M*thematicians will gaslight you about how dude it totally makes sense you're just dumb but just ignore them they're midwits who believe whatever Doctor Fauci says, try to understand their explanations, but if it just doesn't make sense don't bother screaming at your teachers unless they're independently minded.

Again i'm not a mathematician so this is just my perspective take it with a whole salt mine.

if that's your total testosterone, then you're fucked. if free testosterone, then that sounds bad. are you a woman? my shbg eclipses yours. i'm amazing at math. sounds like a skill issue.

it's usually biology majors ("premeds") who get filtered from calculus, physics and chemistry. this would explain the obsession with hormones.

this post pisses me off because it has one correct conclusion in a miasma of misinformation and incorrect conclusions.

math, and any mathematical field, requires a metric fuck ton of practice. far more than any other courses you ever take. memorization WILL NOT WORK. you need to understand on a deep level WHY something works, which is the antithesis of memorization. it's literally just following instructions with baseline fucking rules. if i tell you the rule is d/dx (x^n) = n*x^(n-1), then i expect you to find the derivative of x^(1/2). furthermore if i tell you the chain rule, then i expect you to combine rules.

unironically if you're capable of cooking, you're capable of passing intro calculus courses.

to all three of you, this is my testosterone and i have a phd in a math field (but not mathematics because those are for fags). so fuck you all.

Does khan academy or any other website sufficient to learn calculus?

dude it's july

You most likely lack all of these 3 fundamental skills:
1. Algebra
2. Problem-solving
3. Proof-writing

Well, too late now. The best you can do now is grind problems and compare your attempts with the model solutions. Rinse and repeat. Also quit 4chan. But this is hard, and most people won’t do hard things.

you want the honest answer? khan academy, paul's online notes, or any introductory textbook are all sufficient to learn calculus with that caveat that you are not a fucking idiot. use whatever method you want. there is a limit to one's abilities, and if one won't work none will.

i personally avoid video tutorials since learning calculus (and any mathematical topic) occurs at your own pace, not at the pace of a video. the video is quick and gives you the illusion that you're learning. it's like attending university lectures. they mean jack shit unless you're in the trenches burning through dozens of pieces of paper on end of the chapter problems.
