This is going to sound crazy but if only Florida State/Clemson leave or get accepted to the P2 and the rest stay in the ACC (while taking UConn and likely USF) then the Big 12 will strongly consider taking Washington State and Oregon State
They are making in road relationships and that they are getting home/homes with P4 schools despite being technically G5 now means schools see them as worthy candidates. After UConn there really isn’t better expansion candidates not in P4

I think this is based but it would have been better if they had refused to play their bowl game. Yes they barely showed up but they still did. Instead this ring is more of a based retard moment.
>>
>>140376443
The most based way to handle it would have been the offense taking a knee every snap, then all 11 players on defense just standing barely on the field a yard away from their own sideline . That way the (((advertisers))) and (((ESPN))) who wanted Bama in over FSU get fucked since they're still paying for the game. But they couldn't cry about muh contractual obligations to try to get out of it like they could have if FSU blew it off.

The best, smartest move Mike Slive ever made as SEC Commissioner was to get the SEC schools to stop tattling on each other to the NCAA for buying players.
Once the Multi-Billion Dollar ESPN contract came in during the late aughts, it was all over for the rest of CFB. ESPN was sucking off the SEC 24/7 while they got to buy players.

I remember Prime's failson recorded a video a few months back showing the behind the scenes of the Colorado Bulldogs or whatever and at one point while Prime is hobbling around the field hollering in ebonics and rap music is blaring concusively in the background the cameraman takes us to the sidelines where the prettiest little blonde sherbet of a 20 year old daddy's girl who must be on the staff is laughing and giggling nonracistly with some fat black coach and entertaining his incomprehensible remarks when all the rest of the staff including Prime just sort of converge on the spot incidentally (I say it unironically because in all likelihood such a doll is nothing new to any of them) and start bantering ostensibly with each other but really for her giggly benefit and she's blushing and going heehee and clearly not understanding half of what comes out of their anally prolapsed mouths and a whistle sounded and the camera turns to a flock of other such white bunnies hopping right on cue to service their masters with water bottles despite being in many cases the ripest little plum cherries you ever imagined and surely suited to higher callings and the camera pans back to our original love interest who is now outright flirting with the first fatass who had been laying the groundwork and someone mentions she's dating one of the players and one little doubts what shade he is and as I watched all this it suddenly hit me how every night on a college football team must literally be what you know it could be said to be.

Nah. Always darkest before the dawn. Young talent is real, the OL is veteran and actually looks like they know what they’re doing now, and qb room was massively improved from last season (looks like their new QB coach is actually doing a good job improving mechanics of the qb’s, especially haarberg). Huskers should be easily bowl eligible and if raiola stays healthy they could get to 9+ wins. Not saying they will but things are looking better in Lincoln for the first time in a long time.

Everybody is making a big deal about muh SEC schedule but Texas' schedule is pretty manageable. They have 3 big games: at Michigan, Oklahoma, vs Georgia. They should be double digit favorites against everybody else they play. Win at least 1 of those big games, don't blow any games you shouldn't and they're in the CFP. Win 2 of those big games and they have more margin of error to absorb an upset. Oklahoma and Georgia are back to back weeks so that will be a challenge.

Oklahoma is counted as a road game for Texas in 2024 so they only have 3 conference road games. 1 will have more Texas fans than home fans, 1 is against a shit team, 1 is against a mid team with a new head coach (Vandy, Arkansas, A&M).
>>140451470
Yes but they kept their star QB and a 1400 yard WR who might be the best WR in CFB next season. I think the coaching change still bled enough talent from the roster to cuck their playoff chances. If Arizona kept Fisch and the players who transferred out because their head coach left they'd start the season in the top 15 with a lot of CFP hype.

Does it ever reach the point where they stop the charade and make it a minor league? The vast majority of the players don't even attend anything close to 'real' classes, nor do the vast majority care about the education they're receiving.
>>
>>140473920
They should care about their education, considering the vast majority will never cash a NFL paycheck and of those who do the vast majority will be out of the league within 4 years. Even the meme degrees would still set them up for jobs that only require a degree of any sort, plus they'll have access to nepotism opportunities most of us can only dream of and that's what really gets you hired in America. Plenty of boomer hiring managers and business owners would love to hire a former player from their alma mater. Every single member thinking they're destined for fame and riches as a star entertainer is a huge problem in the black community.

The ones who sit there for 1 hour and then go to Starbucks clearly won't, that's just them "showing support" so everyone on Tiktok knows and doesn't cancel them
The more intense ones like in Utah, Texas or Columbia? Right-wingers and the /pol/ types like on /cfb/ absolutely worship Israel to the point of doing anything to protect them and muh false rapture prediction, so they will eventually get triggered and force police to brutalize them. Utah already had them beating up the protestors and Texas had a laughably big response. We are going to eventually get a Kent State out of this and it will legitimately start to sour the US-Israel relationship

/pol/ doesn’t exist anymore. It’s all discord and glownigger shills with 4chan passes, just like /biz/ is nothing but shills with 4chan passes after “email registration” became a thing. Fun fact, if you have a 4chan pass you bypass that requirement.

Either way, even normalfags are starting to wake up and run the numbers. Israel doesn’t do shit except drain billions of dollars because our politicians are bought by jews and even here in Texas rank and file baby boomers are starting to say “hold on a minute.”

For a team like Georgia or Ohio State that would be a very easy schedule because I don't see many opponents capable of knocking off juggernauts like that, but for a team like Colorado that's a brutal schedule. No elite teams but many solid, well coached teams. Colorado would do better against a typical B1G or SEC schedule that has a couple games vs title contenders, a couple games vs top 15-25 teams then a bunch of shitters. This conference schedule has a couple shitters (Baylor and Cincy) but everyone else is respectable.

Then they scheduled a ridiculous nonconference slate
>tough FCS team
>road rivalry MWC game
>road rivalry B1G game
They didn't give themselves a single cupcake game. NDSU might be down a bit since they lost their head coach and I don't know how much of their roster transferred out, but that's still a retarded choice for your FCS opponent. They should have staggered the home/away years of the Colorado State and Nebraska games so each year had 1 home and 1 away.

Lucky them. The US Department of Education does complete loan forgiveness in situations like this. The school's records will be transferred to another school and the students will be offered generous transfer credit at other schools for the classes they've already passed. They might end up graduating a year later than planned but they'll do so with at most one year of student debt. It does suck for those who were paying their own way.

>At least 95% of the student body are athletes.
Ah, one of those scam schools. Some Division III and NAIA schools survive by recruiting students whose egos lead them to pick a school based on being "a college athlete", not realizing that the scam is they go heavily into debt for the relatively expensive school, get a nearly worthless degree, but get to brag for the rest of their life that they were a college athlete. These schools tend to be poorly run which is probably why this one collapsed so suddenly during the middle of a semester.
The school is granting a degree to anyone who was already scheduled to graduate this semester, so at least those students aren't fucked.
>Cost of attendance: $47,560/YR (living at home) - $56,560/YR (living off campus)

>>
Reminder that Ole Miss never once played in the SEC Championship Game. Even Mississippi State made it once. Maybe without divisions, the Rebels can slip into a slot.
>>
>>140527980
No divisions makes it harder for teams like that to get to the CCG. At least in the West if you upset Bama you had a really good shot at winning the division. When Ole Miss upset Bama in 2015 it took a 1 in a million type of play to let Bama surpass them. Link related for anyone who doesn't remember.

Now if you upset Bama you still have to beat or finish ahead of teams like Georgia, Texas, LSU, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Missouri and Auburn. Not all of them will be good every year but enough will be that it's highly unlikely teams like Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Arkansas and South Carolina ever reach the CCG now. They'd rather compete against half the conference for a spot in the CCG instead of the entire conference.
>>
>>140522904
She's gonna wall hard and look (more) hideous.
>>
>>140528123
Best situation for Ole Miss would have been for divisions to have stayed with Auburn and Alabama moving to the East, while Texas, Oklahoma, and Missouri joined the West. Still wouldn't have been easy but a easier path than the West has been the last two decades.
>>
>>140528352
Keeping divisions in a 16 team conference just isn't feasible. That's way too long in between playing the teams in the other division. At 8 conference games it would take 8 years to play everyone in the other division once and 16 years to play them all home/away. 9 games would cut each of those waits in half, which is still too long. ESPN didn't bring Texas and Oklahoma to the SEC to only broadcast 1 of their games a decade against Alabama and Georgia.

In the years where that's true, that G5 team will get their heads bashed in. The G5 conferences keep saying they just want a chance to prove themselves on the field, this gives them that shot. While I'm sure the administrators will love the money just like they love money from being homecoming opponents, if they end up being 2-18 in the first round over the next two decades, that's going to hurt the G5 much more than they benefit from the two wins and the revenue share.

This will put most G5 programs out of business. Expect to see a bunch of programs not in the P4 to drop down to Division II or III if it applies to all of Division I.

Pro/rel but with 7 divisions of 9 teams teams plus an 8th pro/rel division would be perfect
>all teams in those first 7 divisions are immune to relegation
>8th pro/rel division also has 9 teams so you have 72 teams at this level
>everyone plays 8 conference games and a double round robin in basketball (16 games)
>all P7 teams are required to schedule at least 2 other P7 teams per year in their nonconference games meaning 10 P7 games minimum each season, their other 2 games can be whoever
>you can only schedule games out for the next 8 years (there's a reason for this)
>every pro/rel team is guaranteed 1 home game and 1 road game per year vs a P7 team
>that means the 63 P7 teams owe the pro/rel division 18 games per year, they will be distributed evenly to all teams, whether your pro/rel opponent is home or away rotates every time your turn to play them come up so no "But we're le blueblood we aren't playing a road game vs Memphis!"
>this averages out to each P7 team getting assigned a pro/rel game every 3-4 years
>pro/rel games are never scheduled for week 1 or 2 so P7 teams are free to schedule big games against each other for week 1 and some FCS shitter home game week 2 if they're on the road or a neutral site week 1
>for the next 8 years everyone will know the years, weeks and location of their pro/rel games (for example Ohio State's future schedules would say pro/rel home week 4 2026, pro/rel road week 3 2029)
>pro/rel opponents are revealed for the following season shortly after the playoff ends and teams are promoted and relegated, so a couple weeks after the 2025 season ends it's announced Ohio State's 2026 week 4 pro/rel home game is Boise State
Next: the playoffs and the divisions
>>
>>140553037
>16 team playoff; 8 champion autobids, 8 at large bids, no more than 2 at large bids per division, division champions are seeded 1-8, higher seed has homefield all rounds until the title game to reward strong regular seasons and discourage resting starters
>no CCGs so there is less wear and tear on the players plus the playoff can be moved up a week, in the event of a tie the tiebreaker for all divisions is H2H between the 2 highest ranked teams
There are some unavoidable awkward geographic fits. The main priority was competitive balance so all divisions would have big games, teams capable of winning a title and none of them would be complete dogshit. There are also some divorces among rivals. With the 2 P7 noncon game requirement there is enough flexibility for rivals no longer in the same division to easily keep playing each other every year.
>Div A: Florida, Florida State, Georgia, South Carolina, Virginia, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, NC State, Duke
>Div B: Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Kentucky, Louisville, Miami, UCF, Arkansas, Maryland
>Div C: Michigan, Ohio State, Michigan State, Northwestern, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Cincinatti
>Div D: Notre Dame, Penn State, Clemson, Georgia Tech, West Virginia, Pitt, Syracuse, Indiana, Purdue
>Div E: Texas, Texas A&M, LSU, Arizona, Arizona State, Texas Tech, Houston, Ole Miss, Mississippi State
>Div F: Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Nebraska, TCU, Baylor, Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State, Missouri
>Div G: USC, UCLA, Oregon, Washington, Cal, Stanford, BYU, Utah, Colorado
The 7 teams getting dropped (Oregon State, Washington State, SMU, Vanderbilt, Rutgers, Wake Forest, Boston College) can all start in the pro/rel division along with Boise State and Tulane. No relegation for the first 2 years for these teams, then the bottom 2 teams are dropped out for the 2 best G5 teams. Newly promoted teams also get a 2 year no relegation grace period. Newly demoted teams cannot be promoted for 2 years.

It usually refers to skill players who can play both RB and WR, with some staffs recruiting them for one position and some recruiting them for the other and some telling them they can play whatever they want. CB/S, LB/S and LB/DE are other ATH possibilities.

>Does nothing to fix the cancer that is yearly free agency / unlimited transfers
>>
>>140553037
I really don't see the point of discussing relegation when there's a 0.0% chance that it ever happen, but on the other hand I guess it's just nice to have /cfb/ alive in May.
>>
>>140555257
It would open the door for a CBA with enforceable contracts and guardrails around player movement. My guess is they would negotiate for 1 free undergrad transfer, then after that you have to sit out a year if you transfer again unless you graduate but still have eligibility remaining. Then you get another free transfer. The schools and coaches seemed to like that way of doing things for the couple years it existed. This would end the bullshit bag chasers do now where they transfer in the winter, then transfer again (or threaten to transfer again) in the spring to shakedown collectives for more money.

Rewards instead of penalties are another option to encourage players to stay put. Make it so each player's revenue share from the school automatically increases by X% each year they are enrolled at that school. If they transfer that bonus resets. Give them a lump sum bonus when they graduate if they never transfer from the school they signed with out of high school. Something will be done to limit player movement once they become employees because nobody likes it. Shitters get cucked out of star players who were overlooked as recruits, bluebloods get cucked out of depth because nobody wants to compete for playing time anymore, everybody ends up paying more because there are enough desperate retard boosters throwing blank checks at 20 year olds to fuel this arms race.
>>
>>140555495
I'd like to see 3 or 4 year contracts become the default. I used to be supportive of players doing what's best for them but it's gotten completely out of control. The idea of what is basically a pro league having annual free agency is a fucking joke.
>>
>>140555600
Yeah, there's a reason no pro league has 24/7 unrestricted free agency for every single player. It's fucking dumb. But CFB is going through a weird transitional phase right now so we're all stuck on this wild ride until the lawsuits are resolved. That will make it clear to anyone still hung up on muh amateurism that this outdated boomer nonsense needs to be replaced with a new way of doing things where the players and the schools both give a little to get a little.
>>
>>140555600
It's not the players fault that everyone wants to pretend college sports are still the same. What's holding everything back is the notion all college athletes are equal.
>>
>>140555792
>24/7 unrestricted free agency
That's a good point, it's not even annual. You've got players who transferred in December and then again in April.

>>140555819
Fuck dem players
>>
>>140555819
Once athletes become employees hopefully that means Title IX faggotry goes out the window. It would solve a lot of CFB's problems. Title IX does not apply to employees. You never hear Title IX complaints because the football coach is earning 20x more than the softball coach, so there shouldn't be any problems with similar pay disparities between the football player employees and the softball player employees.
>>
>>140555937
Any other sport following the current cfb system would collapse in one off season. Good players will still die for good coaches and programs but they don't owe anyone anything.

>>140555982
Title XI could still be saved if everyone is willing to accept opportunity doesn't mean equality. I think paying players a maximum per year with the rest going into a fund that's paid out on graduation or being drafted and penalties for transferring.

The ACC has been ordered by the court to give Clemson a copy of the conference media contract with ESPN. Clemson is ordered to keep the contract secret but at least now they'll have their own copy to use for other lawsuits.
Speaking of lawsuits, Clemson is suing the ACC for defamation, willful and malicious conduct, and slander.
>“As a result of the ACC’s misstatements, the value of Clemson’s media rights has been diminished in the eyes of these and other third parties,” Clemson’s suit said. “This diminution in value injures Clemson, impedes its ability to negotiate future media rights agreements, and worsens its negotiating position with potential future collaborators.”

I give it less than a month before the FOIA request is filed to get at that contract.

Yes but the thing is the judge specifically said not to publicly show it, which means if someone does a FOIA request for it they will respond with that it's evidence in a current lawsuit and can't be shown (which is what they commonly do)
Only way this releases is if someone leaks it, it won't come officially from a FOIA

How will the functionally illiterate hordes of Ohio cope with another loss to Michigan in Columbus?

What fresh new excuse will they conjure up?

Stay tuned to find out!
>>
>Washington State and Oregon State will be signing a tv contract with The CW and Fox which will give each a rumored 15 million yearly just for the football home games
Should they just remain independent and hope eventually they are seen as lucrative for the P4 the way BYU did it? This puts them basically a tier above the G5 and is far better then if they had a MWC contract

The problem is that BYU and Notre Dame have built in non-affiliated fan bases fue to religion. WSU and OSU have no such thing. They're both regional schools that play second fiddle in smallish states.
>>
>>140566332
>>140566689
Another problem is they are paying the MWC 7 million per year to get enough games against them to fill out the schedule. They were able to use funds provided by the departing schools to pay for that arrangement the next couple years but if it goes on long term that payment will come out of their own pockets. They also aren't eligible to get the G5 champion CFP bid so their only playoff chance is an at large bid. That requires going undefeated then praying Oregon, Washington and any other P4 teams they play have great seasons.
