This club is fucking garbage
>>
is it just me or was the crowd very quiet yesterday? i know it's a weeknight but it was hard to ignore almost. was anyone here at the game?
>>
I don't have any faith in Brighton this season. The spurs games will probably be the decider for the title. I have a nervous feeling about the derby this weekend especially after seeing Everton playing like their lives depended on stopping Liverpools title hopes.

Yesterday's thrashing broke a lot of Chelsea fans, especially those YouTube clowns. Some of them like Rory Jennises and Mattise are doing 2 to 3 videos about this, I guess King Kai double-killed their entire reason for existence, imagine if he wins the league for us. I genuinely worry about some of their well-being.

i've been on /sp/ since 2010 (BBBZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZTT) and i have a genuine question:

how/why is arsenal the only team on this entire board with its own general? there are bigger, better, and infinitely more successful clubs/teams all over the world. but only these fags have consistently kept their general alive for at least a decade

how?

>>

Took them until the second half to get going but then so did the team. Second half the crowd was pretty "normally" loud I thought.
>>
>>140345448
Jesus fucking Christ I know Arteta has a good record against them but this is just absurd. I double-checked the stats and it's true, the only win in the last 10 they have against us is the 2nd match of 2022 when 80% of our team ate Wuhanbatsoup.
>>
>>140345417
Spurs are playing for a top 4 spot. And they can't afford any losses because they're already 6 points behind with 2 less games played and less goal difference. It's not going to be an easy game and there's nothing better to motivate your players than a home game against your biggest rivals where a win is one step closer to your goal. I don't doubt that this arsenal team playing at their best will completely demolish this Spurs team but derby's are something special and also these players are playing their 6th game in a couple of weeks whereas spurs have had 2+ weeks off. It's a nervy few days.

>>
>>140345581
I have no expectations but beating Chelsea 5-0 is the best platform to go to Topspurs and get a result. Tbf at first I was annoyed that Spurs got two weeks off to prepare for this derby, but now I think it’s better to be the team in form rather than the one resting.

>Everton FINALLY beat Liverpool after about 15 years of trying
It's another good morning to wake up to.

With results like that, I might start believing that the stars are finally aligning...
>>
>>140345648
We were in form against villa and the first half could've been a demolition job but we missed so many chances. And then 2nd half you could see the players were leggy and had barely any energy left. That's my biggest fear. If we had a weeks break I'd be more confident but the fatigue has to catch up again at some point. Maybe I'm just a pessimist. The one thing I'm happy about is udogie being out injured which frees up saka at least. He usually has a good time against spurs in the last few fixtures.

You prefer it being Southampton?

Man City dropped 13 points from January to the end of the season last year (22 games). This season they have dropped 6 points so far since the start of January (14 games, they have 6 games left). They are going to finish this season even stronger than the last aren't they?
>>
>>140354255
Not so sure about that, their Black Udon dude being out is good but Son inherited Kane’s clutch genes vs Arsenal plus the already mentioned weight of the game alone.
They are on a shit run but as we all know form hardly matters in a derby.

Last season is the only season in which the atmosphere was actually good at the Emirates. I thought we'd finally got all the miserable old cunts who never sing and whine at the smallest mistakes out of the stadium. Turns out most of them have just reclaimed the tickets they started loaning out to proper fans when we were shit.

There's a miserable old couple who have two seats in front of me who reappeared halfway through this season after turning up to no games in 5 years (there was always someone else sat there tbf). I don't even understand what they get out of the games, they always arrive 10 minutes late (for both halves) and leave 10 minutes early.

They'll also shout the stupidest fucking things. A full-back on his weak foot will be told to shoot from 40 yards out ("SHOOOOT"). Defenders will be berated for not pressing the man on the ball when we're facing an overload ("GET OUT TO HIM"). The keeper will be told to JUST GET RID OF IT instead of passing short even though playing out from the back has been a basic principle of our play for years now.

These things change game by game. So they're kind of worthless.
Just a few weeks ago they were saying Liverpool had a 50% chance of winning the whole thing. But now it's 2%.

That's kind of the problem with trying to predict the future based on previous information.

It’s 2% because they choked. The graph does have some value in the same way that we can predict that if City win out they’ll win the league. Just more nuanced.

>>
>>140357173
>>140357400
No. It's nonsense. Because it's just saying, if things remain the same then city have a 60% chance of winning.
Nobody knows what's going to happen, because there are too many unpredictable things that could happen in football.

If they were accurate, and useful, they'd have stayed consistent across the season. Not chopping and changing every match.

This is still the same Liverpool team they said were favourites to win. And now their favourites choked, they're readjusting their probabilities to make it seem like they're very clever and nuanced, when they're just guessing like the rest of us.

This guy would be the ideal Xhaka replacement. He's similar to Xhaka but more mobile and can play in the right half-space to enable Odegaard to play on the left. This would greatly improve our creativity and reduce our reliance on the RHS for attacking the opponents box. Martinelli hasn't been the same player since Xhaka left. This signing could fix a lot of issues with our attacking setup. Praying it happens.

Chelsea are actually fucked. They have a bunch of shitters on stupidly long contracts (even longer than the contracts our deadwood used to be on). >we missed so many chances
Funny thing is, this same applies to the Chelshit game as well. The first half was genuinely scary, with such a crap conversion rate. And with this smooth segue let's transition to my hot take:
The Tuesday game could (should?) have easily ended 8-0 (what landed in + one of Kai's misses, Ode and Martinelli) if it wasn't for piss poor finishing. Piss poor finishing in a 5-0 game, I know.
Then again, it could've as easily ended up with a dire 3-3 if a certain not-Michel but-Jackson knew how to kick a ball straight.
All in all I reckon the scandalous decision to not get him sent off (based retard ref) became a big handicap for >us, because Chelski would surely fortify their defence and had a competent ball kicker up front for a counter otherwise.
Anyway, I'd like the Kaiser stepping up his game.

I think I said it after the Newcastle loss, to compete with City 3 losses are the absolute maximum one can afford in a whole season and >we are sitting at 5. That said >we won and drew vs City and you are right the rest of the league should do better but how do you compete with financial cheaters spearheaded by a super footballing autist (and convicted doper)?

yeah, when I've watched Man Utd play I notice he is one of their best pressers, and he is a decent finisher with pace and strength. I wonder if the shit season Man Utd have had would make him turn his head. just some wishful thinking.
I think if Arsenal sell the dead weaight we can probably afford a $100m striker if we split the payments up. Gyhokeres or Oshimen? If we don't get a $100m striker then we should go for a good off the bench option because NKEKS is done for. Everytime he gets an appearance off the bench the team cant score. I hope the hattrick he had against sheffield this season is enough to sell him (no refunds of course)

>>
How long do Isak and Hojlund even have on their contracts?
>>
Now that we know Arteta is happy to go back for previous targets when available i think it's likely that Vhalovic and Guimares arrive this summer

Juventus and Newcaslte both need to sell

Probably cost about £140m+ for both but it would be worth it

Saka Vhalovic Havertz Martinelli Trossard Jesus - forward options, sell Nelson and Nketieh for anyone who wants them

Guimares Odegaard Rice Jorginho Partey 5/6 good midfield options
>>
>>140364564
according to some dodgy sources i found online, Hojlund is on a 5 year contract and isak is ona contract till 2027
>>
>>140364564
isak has a contract like the other anon said until 2027, but his wages will drop by up to 20% if they don't make the ucl
he has every reason to move, even if it's to us or someone else (barca is linked with him but I doubt that will happen)
poocastle are going to ask for 80 mill at least but I think we should take it desu
the striker-market is pretty shite and it's one of the positions we lack the most
as a kaibro I do worry about our future though if we buy a striker
>>
>>140365504
kaiguys would be relieved with an Isak signing giving his injury record. nketiahcels and Jesussers will be very concerned
>>
>>140361964
New one. You're welcome
>>
>>140365538
but as a Kaichad, he just simply wouldn't be starting anymore
we've tried havertz in the midfield, and it just doesn't fucking work
you're not gonna spend 80 mill for a striker and never play him
also:
>looking at injuries when buying players for our team
that literally never matters
we've bought multiple players that had great injury-records before signing with us and were permanently injured, and vice versa
Nshitiah is hopefully gone this summer and jesus will be a benchwarmer (if he's not already injured which he likely will be)
>>
>>140365604
typing this out just made me realize we're probably not even going to buy a striker....
>>
>Arsenal and Manchester City have been made aware that Newcastle United will listen to offers in excess of £80m for Brazil midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, 26, this summer. (90min)

>Guimaraes' £100m release clause will only be active for one month, from late May to late June. (Fabrizio Romano, via Caught Offside)

>Arsenal are tracking multiple midfield targets amid concerns a deal for Real Sociedad and Spain midfielder Martin Zubimendi, 25, could be difficult. (Standard)

>Zubimendi says reports linking him to some of Europe's top clubs "are just rumours" and he is happy at Real Sociedad. (Marca - in Spanish)

think its safe to say that another midfielder is coming this season, but I have no idea who it's going to be. struggle to see arsenal pay the money Newcastle want for Guimares (but I think he slots into Arsenals team perfectly).

Everton brought Arteta from Sociedad for 5m and Xabi Alonso went to Liverpool from Sociedad for 10m. Market has changed so much that a Sociedad player who doesn't play for the national team is now is 60m. Oyarzabal is still at Sociedad, I don't think those guys want to go anywhere.
>>
>>140365640
>>140365604
grim... then lets spend 100m on wingers and a proper CB backup (kiwior's aerial game is too weak for my taste). a RW competition for Saka is CRUCIAL
>>
>>140365666
a midfielder is coming 100%
>>140365689
I think we need a lot in this window, which is kinda why I think we will be lacking in attack
a great CB-backup is 100% needed. someone that could step up when saliba or gabriel is injured
kiwior/tomi should be used when white/timber needs a rest, and ukraine is hopefully leaving in the summer too. I don't know if tierney is any good at this point, but we're looking good regardless in those areas
then you need a good midfielder who's going to be starting almost every game. We've locked down ode and rice, but that remaining spot is still so shaky. Partey is always injured, jorghino is a hit or a miss every game (he's also getting old) and vieria is not consistent at all.
just those spots are going to be expensive if you want quality-established players
then we need a striker/back-up winger. my guess is that edu/arteta will look for a player that is somewhat a future prospect that can play both

You know what's weird? Being an ex-tottenham manager, this should put so much joy and smile on my face but I kinda don't because he took care of Arteta during his PSG days, I feel a bit bad for him. He's clearly out of his depth in EPL in 2024. Is it weird? Lol. I never hated Poch as much as Jose for some reason.
>>
At least city are winning in style again instead of stuff like fodens slip and free kick happening in 90+5, that being said we really should've taken advantage when there was no de bruyne but arteta thought nkhetiah was good enough to start and didn't realise CF is the position where havertz shines late 2023

Being in the CL was more of a distraction in the end as that villa home game was at a bad time but we're better for the experience being back in there for the first time for almost a decade

Question for Arsenal fans, is 2nd place a result you're happy with?
Do you view it as "great season, couldn't quite get there but have a real shot of going one step further and winning next year"

bit of A and B
it really depend on the context. if preseason you just tell people we gonna finish 2nd and got CL qf, i think a lot would be ok.
And let say man city was blitzing past everybody and win the league in march, people would just shrug at it. but getting close and lose right at the end even if you win it all from now is a bit more bitter
however last year was much worse, realistically speaking we barely stay at number 1 for long this season compared to last one

>>
>>140376134
Before the season started I hoped we would challenge for the title again while being competitive in the CL. So I think we achieved both (although I am not happy with how far from our top level we were in both games against Porto and Bayern).

A couple of months into the season I changed my expectations. We played so bad and didn't look like a team. A top 4 finish and being competitive in the CL (hopefully kill the first knockout round curse). We definitely achieved that.

After the Fulham loss in December I decided that the only way I will hope for the title again would be if we win 10 in a row. We won 9 out of 10 (drawing City on that 8th game).

All in all, I am happy with the way we play. We did well getting into the title race again and we are actually finishing the season in a way only done by Liverpool and Man City in the past years (only dropped 5 points since January, Man City dropped 8 during similar period last year with 4 games to go and (we dropped 18 points during that same period)).
>>
>more news popping up that Arsenal may be reconsidering signing a striker because of Havertz
jesus h. christ pls no, unless the club magically conjures a 20 goals + a season winger out of thin air on the left >we absolutely need a fucking striker.
At least there is talk about Jesus + Shitketia leaving.
>>
>>140380612
Teams are going to offer us a £100 million take it or leave it offer for any 20+ goals a season striker.

With that money, you may as well just make the team better overall.
>>
>>140380612
For me we only ever needed a new striker for Nketiah anyway. A younger, hopefully future star for max 50m that can play anytime Jesus is injured. Nketiah is too bad to even sub in for Jesus when he is gone so we need an upgrade there.

Now if we sell Jesus (which I am not totally against because he can't stay fit (Tomiyasu another I feel fit the same box)), then we definitely need to splurge big on a new striker and then we might as well get someone better (if one is available that is).

Havertz could be the stand in for Jesus (or rotate with him) instead of Nketiah but then we instead need a new midfielder instead of Havertz.
>>
>>140380612
Havertz is better than all of the available strikers though.

>>140381325
They have the FA on the on the payroll
>>
>>140381385
scoring goals has very well been a problem, all the crunch games or most of the losses were down to the team not finishing their chances.
And no to Rice but >we do need a striker, midfielder, LB and some RW competition before Saka dies - minimum.
Sell the rest of the useless shitters clogging up the bench, I don’t care because they are either injured or Arteta never plays them to begin with. Fill up the rest of the third to fourth rotation slots with academy kids.
>>
>>140381385
Scoring goals when the attacking flow is not at its best has been our problem for a long time. Trossard is probably the only one I would back to score a goal on a half chance. The rest of them need a couple of clear cut chances to score a goal. Getting a player that can come up with those important goals out of nowhere (or when we are not playing at our best) would be so beneficial for this team.
>>
>>140381385
I think Kai played just as well in the midfield position. His runs are great and he works hard in defence. His first touch and his passing could be better though (negatives I would highlight if we discuss him as a striker as well).

Both of these are true. We had a great season, and definitely one foot in the door towards winning the title, but also did fumble a golden opportunity after getting so close.

Foden is allowed to just flop onto the ground with LITERALLY - as proven by frame-by-frame analysis - zero contact, raises his hand (i.e. willingly cheats) and get a FK which leads to a winning goal which decides the outcome and VAR says nothing
This is the machine that Arsenal are up against. It's the same one that Liverpool were up against except they cheated a bit less back then because they had more truly world-class players (all of which had payments off the books)

It’s possible to be a worse team than Man City and knock them out of a cup competition, we’ve seen it happen a lot. However, it’s impossible to be a worse team than Man City and beat them over a 38 game season.

The only way you can win the PL is by being better than the best team in the world, so essentially, Arsenal must become the best team in the world to win this trophy.

I would say we’re the third best team in the world right now behind City and Real Madrid when we’re playing our best football. We have to take another step forward this summer.

I think if it was a closer result where the one goal making the difference was a flop from Foden it would be talked about more. It's dumb but because brighton conceded all those other goals after, the media doesnt see the free kick as a big deal. Brighton didnt do themselves any favors by conceding so easily. This happens with all bad ref calls unfortunately

DSL got his internet cut off by his mum (again) but this time finally, couple of months back, this version is one of our usual suspects, switches between Dutch, German, Australian and British VPNs, my money is on 190kg.
Easy to spot since he is basically in any thread where the slightest mention of Arsenal happens.
>>
Man City owns you

DMCC (Dutch Man City Chad) owns you
>>
>>140384630
It’s 190kg who didn’t get any (you)s on his Aussie VPN and then like a relegated Swansea decided to latch on others’ success (DSL being a “good” troll) which is why giving him a (you) is supremely sad.
>>
>>140384865

>Now why he stopped mentioning City and decided to dedicate his life to /arse/ instead, I have no idea.

Because he used to try and start cringe blue moon general threads, would get get about 10 replies, half of which were him bumping the thread before they inevitably died, as Man City are a tragic plastic club with no fanbase outside of pathetic foreign bandwaggoners like him.

All this talk of us needing a striker but I look at it differently. Rather than a particular position, there's a profile we desperately need in attack. We need a monster on transitions that can break games single-handedly (Henry, Rashford, Leao, Mbappe). There's a reason we tried to buy Raphinha and then Mudryk. There was talk of us looking at Rashford when Arteta came in but that ship has surely sailed. Is there a top CF that can fill that gap? Possibly Isak. Would he improve the collective? Probably not enough for what he'd cost. His lack of an engine will hurt our press and we already have no problem scoring goals. I could only see us going for someone like Vlahovic if Jesus moves on.
>>
>>140385610
His physicality would worry me in the PL. Does he have the running power to keep up with the top CMs? I'm not convinced. Bruno G would be the safer option as he's proven in the league.

I think Guimaraes news are coming from his agent. He has the same one with Gabriel. And also Danilo, news were filled with "Danilo to Arsenal" for a year before he got to Nottingham. So if his camp pushing for a move, maybe there's a deal below his 100m clause. Dude is a cunt but he'd be very very good as a primary 6. Also Rice and him can interchange 6 and 8 even in the middle of the game.
>>
>>140357510
JFC are you thick
its a reflection of the *current* likeliehood of where a team might finish. And, obviously, that takes into account *current* league postions etc to do so. If it was 'accurate from Day 1' theyd probably be using it to clear out the betting industry instead
>>
>>140385800
His £100m release clause is payable over five years (5 x £20m) so it probably doesn't even make sense to haggle them down as they'll only want more up-front.

>And, while anyone buying Guimaraes could amortise the £100million cost over five years — meaning it could be spread over the length of a contract and would only go down as a £20m annual fee — it still represents a massive financial outlay, even given how highly the Brazil international is rated.

Fullback is a meme position, most players who end up there couldn't make it in other positions. If you want your fullback to defend, play a centre-back there. If you want your fullback to invert/playmake, play a midfielder there. If you want your fullback to attack/cross, play a winger there.

Zinchenko can't defend, but he's great at inverting because he's ultimately a midfielder. White is our best full-back at doing all those roles, and even he is only playing there because Saliba forced him out wide.

this "everyone criticizes arsenal but nobody criticizes anyone else" is doing my bloody head in. it's literally spread everywhere for some reason and almost every single arsenal fan parrots it. genuinely why even care? if arsenal football club is being constantly put under the microscope thats either because the fanbase is too easy to rile up which leads to more engagement and clicks or simply due to arsenal being a sort of "antagonist" club that gathers hate and hostility from the media and other fans. in reality its probably a combination of these two but all you need to do is just simply brush it off and embrace it. you do not win silverware and get on the big stage if you're constantly hindering yourself by giving attention to how the media is portraying the club or the fans, or how they are evaluating your season and transfers. if the media has an agenda against >us(which they do) for bottling the league last season(which we did) then all that needs to be done is to prove them wrong by winning it and shutting them up. livapewl or chelshit or whatever the fuck are all irrelevant to >us and we should just simply do what needs to be done, WIN TROPHIES.

It was bad management by Arteta, but we also should’ve scored four goals in the first half and killed the game when we were dominating them. The finishing was just diabolical that day.

We really needed Villa to lose that, genuinely think PGMOL cunts had that in mind when they ruled out the winner.

Less contact than the Newcastle shove on Gabriel btw. Can't wait to see what they have in store for us tomorrow
