The problem is not cheating. The problem is that Norway has maximized their population's athletic potential to maximize the amount of medals they will earn at the winter olympics. While so many Swedish talents are wasted on team sports like bandy, floor ball and of course ice hockey which is the only one of the sports to give a medal, but a horrible ROI considering how many athletes it requires to have a chance of winning gold. Norwegians don't waste their time on team sports that don't give medals in the winter olympics. In fact, aside from football and handball I don't think they bother with team sports at all, because they know the olympic medal ROI is horrible on those sports.THIS is the reason why Norway overperforms with their small population. Because they have made a well made analysis of which sports their athletes should invest time on to earn medals in the winter olympics. In other countries you will simply let your children compete in whatever they think is fun, but not in Norway.
