Why don't they make pve chess computers that are intentionally weak? Like it would use less processors or whatever it is that modern computers have, or even just play the xth best move instead of the 1st? I think it'd be fun to play against a computer that's actually on my level becuase it's stupid like me and not just godfish playing retarded moves every once in a while to humor me. As it stands you'd have to find a gameboy on ebay or something to do this. Really that should be the next big thing in AI shouldn't it? Making them fucking idots so we can relate to them?

I generally recommend Ben Finegold's lectures for beginners (all available on YouTube). I think he's a very good teacher and he mixes in a dash of humour here and there. Other people on YouTube you can learn from are Daniel Naroditsky and John Bartholomew. They both have "speedrun" type videos where they start at a low rating and play their way up, all the while explaining their thought processes. (Bartholomew's are called "Climbing the Rating Ladder")
