basically today Gukesh became World Champion?
Gukesk has mid accuracy, but is leading the board. 2/3rds of his wins are against other Indian players. What did they mean by this?
>>92482719>2/3rds of his wins are against other Indian players. They are not teaming up, be serious, there are too many eyes pointed at them.
If you actually thought that place was decent then you wouldn't be in here every day shilling.

The women's Candidates is a Chinese thing now.
trade queens or capture the knight? i'm retarded

With so many players close together in the Candidates leaderboard, there is a high probability to have tiebreaks in the end, and Naka winning them because they are on rapid and blitz.https://twitter.com/ChessNumbers/status/1780034308344033293

India does or does not get a world champion based on the results of today. Maybe Alireza will forfeit the match because Abasov doesn't appreciate fashion.
>>92511969I'm ok with an Indian world champion: my main concern is the Chinese women dominance, and I don't see the end of it for at least another 4 years.>todaytomorrow
I'm trying to remember the name of a website where you just start playing moves and it will train you in the most common lines in that opening. Anyone know what I'm talking about?
>>92512913chessbook.com ?But you can just use the Lichess analysis board and set multiple lines: you'll see the ideas of your opponent and where they lead to; then you go back a few moves and try other lines.
>>92513988No that's not it. It's one where you just play your opening and then it will challenge you in the most common lines with spaced repetition.

Why don't they make pve chess computers that are intentionally weak? Like it would use less processors or whatever it is that modern computers have, or even just play the xth best move instead of the 1st? I think it'd be fun to play against a computer that's actually on my level becuase it's stupid like me and not just godfish playing retarded moves every once in a while to humor me. As it stands you'd have to find a gameboy on ebay or something to do this. Really that should be the next big thing in AI shouldn't it? Making them fucking idots so we can relate to them?
>>92547480Double posting on ya. I have a gba emulator and a chessmaster rom on my phone for this purpose and I can tell when my phone is throttling on me or not by whether the 1rst level opponent, the kid, plays like a kid or beats my ass.
>>92547480Maia is a chess bot that's trained on low-rated player games
>>92549346It's weird that the lower one is trained with 1100s rated players but then it gets rated 1380 blitz / 1628 classical on lichess. Also, why not training one with the 800s or the 600s? There must be some technical difficulties to go lower and still be "credible" in emulating humans.
>>92550905My guess is that once you're at 1100 you fuck up less often than not, so the average move is sound, so then the 1100 average move bot will always play sound whereas the 1100 human will not, hence the higher rating. My guess for the other point is that below 800 you fuck up more often that not so an 800 average move bot would be a total blunderfest.
>>92489265Andrea will be in the Open B at the Sardinia World Chess Festival, Alexandra in the Open A. Incredibly enough, Italy managed to find 50K for the prize fund.https://chess-results.com/tnr876083.aspx?lan=1&art=25&fedb=CAN&turdet=YES&flag=30

I believe in Fabi... Hikaru, Gukesh, and Nepo will cruise and draw their next games. Fabi beats a discouraged Pragg, Nepo chokes in Round 14 against Fabi à la final round World Chess Championship 2023.
>>92558851Depends on how best you learn things. For beginners, I think videos are often very good. Books can be dry and/or frustrating to learn from. I generally recommend Ben Finegold's lectures for beginners (all available on YouTube). I think he's a very good teacher and he mixes in a dash of humour here and there. Other people on YouTube you can learn from are Daniel Naroditsky and John Bartholomew. They both have "speedrun" type videos where they start at a low rating and play their way up, all the while explaining their thought processes. (Bartholomew's are called "Climbing the Rating Ladder")
>>92529437So, is Italian just where you get both horses out early?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6C_-H__EEY&t=258s>Hikaru wants the rapid tiebreaks I want tiebreaks for the chaos and the memes, but Hikaru would be happy to win outright without them.
