What is your favorite painting channel on YouTube?

If I equipped two of my nobz with the killsaw and the powerspike and the other 3 with klaws, that'd read well enough as a squad full of power klaws, right? Not like the former two weapons have rules anymore at any rate

Yeah, that's pretty much what everyone is doing.

Also as long as you aren't mixing load outs, no one gives a fuck about WYSIWYG for orks, even at tournaments.

Sorastro has pretty solid tutorials but he doesnt paint a lot of 40k or GW stuff.

For Legion and Marvel Crisis his tutorials are gold.

Have the Sisters of Battle ever won a major battle or contributed in some meaningful way? My memory of them is fuzzy but I have it in my head they've always been the punching bag of the Imperial faction.

Then dont, dont give GW more money for a shitty game system.
>>
>>92612134
Cool, cool. It was either that or scrounging/kitbashing together more klaws, and honestly I really like the killsaw and spike so I'd prefer to do this for both visual variety and personal preference. Personally I wanted to use em before the change anyways but they seemed kinda weak compared to the alternatives.

>>
>>92612536
Start with a 1k point army you retard. Please for the love of God do not listen to fucking no game secondary morons here who have never stepped foot in their LGS ever that 1k games aren't real, unless you are one of those people who literally cannot live unless he is bringing a bane blade or primarch every match.

Better yet start with a combat patrol, although finding players for that will depend on your local scene.
>>
>>92612536
If you just wanna play the game use tabletop simulator. Actual 40k has been declining in quality since forever now, GW is now using the rules to force people to buy more, and the lore has just entered its death spiral too with the introduction of femstodes More telling actually was GW gaslighting fans asking about it with the statement "There have always been femstodes"
>>
>>92612369
If you paint a lot you will need an airbrush to save your sanity.
>>
>>92612556
well one they just released today so nobody here's going to have experience with those colors specifically
and two, in general pro acryl's excellent even if they need more reds and oranges, so if you see a color there that looks like something you want it's worth grabbing to try out
>>
>>92612556
I’ve used that brand for my battletech stuff. they’re pretty good.

Custodes have Shield Hosts which have different armor colorations. They were present in the 8/9th codexes, but 10th removed that in favor of the detachments system.
>>
>>92612412
They have a limited presence in the Chalnath theater, but they're doing okay over there. In Charadon the SoB under Abbess Vahl were at the head of the Imperial counter-offensive and were largely successful at restoring the sector to Imperial control. And in the Nephilim sector they were one of the most critical elements of the Imperium's initial response to the establishment of the Pariah Nexus.

Compressor, an airbrush, and cleaning materials. Of all these, the compressor is the item to actually put in the dough for. Don’t skimp out on it, as it’ll impact the pressure and flow of whatever airbrush you use. Best to get one with an airtank attached to help regulate the pressure.

One small nitpick I have with Orks is that I feel their vehicles should never have rust, or if they do it should be whole pieces rather than the usual "rust where water collects". Their shit is made of scrap metal in a mostly ad-hoc manner and rarely lasts more than one engagement, a Trukk does not get to sit rusting in the rain because it's probably gonna explode or be rammed into something the first time it sees action.

It is 9th edition after a year of balance changes. Chaos Knights have only one playable list, max Dogs (now with no Abaddon).
It is the end of 9th edition. At this refined point in time, Chaos Knights have only one playable list, max Dogs.
It is 10th edition. At the moment of all indices releasing, Chaos Knights have only one playable list, max Dogs.
It is 10th edition after 4 balance passes...

The % of people actually leaving for Warmahordes will be minuscule, I'd estimate not more than 2%~ or so of the whole 40k community, probably less

Doomstalkers are fine even in canoptek, they fold easily at T8 if you just fucking shoot at them and fold to melee. Their attack value is also pretty random when it wants to be. Even setting aside they'll only ever see play in Canoptek.
Cryptek character nerfs across the board were very fair. Immortal nerf is fair enough. Ctan nerfs are jokes honestly. The key one being atleast the best Ctan isnt the cheapest by far now.
My current list frustratingly is now going to be 5 points over with my preferred cut of a hexmark destroyer. I think I can cope with switching out void dragon to a transcendant to snuggle back into 2k though

Thing is, BA had a lot of good concepts implemented that should have made it to 10th. Stuff like leadership abilities applying to one selected unit for a turn, or unit restrictions that helped curb a lot of 9th’s powercreep. They could’ve at least had a mission in 10th where vehicles are restricted, for example.

Cadians, Kriegers, Vistoyans, Catachans, SoB, and SMs all use child soldiers. Other groups, large like Tanith or Steel Legions, do not. I would say it’s pretty common place as the Imperium doesn’t have the same soft perspective on childhood or family that we do. Ironically, it is the Eldar who are closest to our view, which is one of the many reasons people in the fandom hate them so much.

Does anyone know why on Terra the parasite of mortrex still costs 80 points?

Fuck I want to use at least 2 of these guys but they just won't really fit at 160 the pair, did they ever commit any crime against balance or is lone operative, potentially reducing OC and battle shock that powerful?

It feels that if they costed 65 each it would be perfect, even 70 sound good

I had a lot of fun testing 2 parasites with 2-3 neurolictors and 2 screamer killers

They are really fun to use even if they movement was nerfed a little but they do feel overcosted, 2 is the right number to put pressure though, one can kinda be ignored or focused but two seem to make people over extend more, it's also an excuse to use more Ripper Swarms

NTA, but it's not about being a poorfag. I have an airbrush and after using it a few times, it now sits in a corner and collects dust because I hated using it. Even after thinning my paints down a lot (they were almost like water) the nozzle would still constantly get clogged. Maintenance is also a lot easier for regular brushes than it is for airbrushes. With a manual brush, all you gotta do is swish it around in some water for a couple seconds, wipe it off on a towel or something, and your cleanup is done. Not so with an airbrush. You have to meticulously clean it after each use or it will clog up even more frequently that it already does.

And now that things like contrast/speed paints are a thing, manual brushing has gotten a lot faster. The only thing I think an airbrush is better than a regular brush at is priming/base coating a large model like a tank. But then you could just go get a spray can and get the same results as an airbrush without any of the maintenance or hassle.
>>
>>92613101
It is.
Literally WHAT THE FUCK WERE THEY THINKING rules.

Imagine if your characters could only be hit if somethings b2b, but they could strike anything fighting their unit.
So people are just daisy chaining lines where the characters chopping through shit while being untouchable.
Theres so many dumb rules like this
>This unit cant do a charge move
>Oh so it cant charge?
>No it can still declare charges
?????????????????????
>>
>>92612581
That wasn't gaslighting. That's how GW has always handled retcons. Yes, it's a stupid way to handle retcons, but it's still not gaslighting. When the Rogal Dorn tank was introduced it was the same thing. They just said "oh the Imperial Guard has always had this tank".

>>
>>92613543
No its made for moving into position and standing there.
You can deploy your Russ' on the deployment zone ruins and have full effect too.
But you dont want to get shot so you dont.
Its almost like tradeoffs for a powerful rule exist.

But even if the artillery wasnt absurd and one of the two main reasons why Guard was tearing up tournaments GW has said repeatedly they dont want indirect to be as strong as it was.
How the fuck would it shock you that indirect gets nerfed when the entire guard tournament scene is spamming as many indirect shots as you can.
>>
>>92613457
I lost my kill tank, I've only had the fucking thing for six months and I only took it to a few games. Honestly with how much orks have been gutted I have no shame in asking for legends now in my games.
>>
>>92613470
Good.
They should hate FW. What FW is now is not what it was ever supposed to be.
They were for weird shit that you could use in narrative games, because it was cool.
Terrax drills, Cyclops demo vehicles, artillery tractors, stuff that would never be in 40K otherwise.

Let it go back to being for weird cool stuff, that doesn't have to be balanced.
>>
>>92613575
Honestly people should just normalize legends in friendly games.
AoS does it and its not an issue.

I legitimately cant think of a single legends unit right now that would break the game in 10th.
They are all somewhat poorly costed as is.
>>
>No its made for moving into position and standing there.
Right anon. Which doesn't work. You moved that turn, so you don't get it. Then your opponent kills you, or just doesn't stand in the way of a demo cannon, and you have to move, so you don't get it. Unlike artillery, which always gets it.

"buff when remain stationary" rules are dogshit, just like the marine one which is mathematically solid but unusable
>>
>>92613591
This, legends are always going to suck. Many sucked before becoming legends. GW is reaching critical mass and culling at a rapid pace, so much so that they are cutting into new AoS lines first. That should be a lesson for everyone that models are eternal and rules come and go.

Old FW used to offer two whole guard regiment lines, Elysian and Krieg, as well upgrade sprues for multiple units across multiple armies that had rules in their main codex but weren't offered as models by GW's main site. None of that is what anyone would consider "obscure or weird" stuff.

Painting my very first Neophyte Hybrid. Painted 5 Infernus Marines of very questionable quality but this is one much harder to paint. Applied some brown wash but it pooled into to everywhere and dried too quick, maybe I should load the brush less and apply it to specific places. The grey I got is too bright than I had expected and not too happy about it. Painting skin is also a challenge and so easy to fuck it up.
I love it. First models are going to suck ass but hopefully by the 2nd Combat Patrol box, things will get better. I like how the Turquoise & Magenta scheme turned out and will continue painting that way. Also a larger brush with a finer, sharper end was easier to work with.

Snaggas were going to be one of the Ork factions for the canned "Age of Guilliman" AoS-type reboot of 40k. Like a self-contained army with a certain theme.

Kind of like Kruleboyz for AoS

You can see it in the Primaris range too.

Like the Phobos Marines compared to the Sacrosanct Chamber (rip) for Stormcast

Little negro, if you go armor heavy the changes have maybe freed up 50pts. Likely less. Do you really think that is the difference between every guard player that actually does well running a specific list and suddenly normal tank/infantry lists being viable?

>GW is reaching critical mass and culling at a rapid pace, so much so that they are cutting into new AoS lines first.
Mass isn't the issue, the issue is that once players have their army they stop buying models. They want the rotating format seen in card games, a slow conveyor belt that runs through the range every couple of years. But a wargame has more design restrictions, they don't have the same amount of options. So instead units go into legends then get cycled back in with a slightly different model later, preferably with a different scale or something that makes the old model unplayable.
>>
how come people are saying that anyone complaining about shooty orkz getting screwed by this codex is an eldar false flagger, yet I've never seen a single person post an ork with a gold paint job? surely all of the true ork fans who are ecstatic about these new rules would be rejoicing by posting their shiny gitz who are so good now, right?

Its the same shit as the Chaos Knights changes last MFM, Brigands got a points bump and the big knights got a points drop because everyone takes the former and the latter are shit
CK players still just run brigands because surprise surprise, slightly cheaper models that are shit are still shit, and the WR just drops.

Nobody cares the russ with a S7 AP1 gun got a points decrease. It is a worthless change that does nothing. But the good units getting a points bump actually has an effect
>>

Necrons got a decent 10% minimum increase on "good lists", but in reality necrons will remain very strong until they nerf hypercrypt because that detachment rule is cancer

Chaos Knights will always be shit.
And both them and Imperial Knights NEED to be shit.
They are a badly implemented faction, and the need to keep them cross compatible with other super factions has ruined their ability to balance them properly.
The chances of Knights ever being even close to good, almost guarantees that they'll end up being broken (or at least massively overrepresented) as allies. So they'll always end up mediocre at best.

They can't do seasons with the same speed as card games because their product is 10 times more expensive. They can only farm so much per customer. A season lasts 1-2 years in MtG, so a decade long cycle is a similar fit. Which is exactly what is happening in AoS.

I think the problem with slapping solar with a points nerf is that he is so auto-include that'd it just be a nerf to the whole army. The problem is that solar does stuff that no other unit can do. Unless the really buff the generic officer units he's still going to be a mandatory pick. Ursula kind of takes a hit by kasrkin getting hit as they're probably her best unit to lead.

The Tau release highlights an increasing issue with GW when it comes to organization. What is going on with them for the past year or so? GW before was greedy, sure, but their releases were still organized and made at least some kind of sense. For the past year though, everything has been disorganized and just seems to generally be a big shit show.

Are they having a competency crisis? High staff turnover? Are different departments not communicating effectively? What is going on with GW that it seems like they can't even effectively pull off the basic functions of a corporation of their size?

Their commitment to keeping production in Britain + Brexit affecting shipments out of the UK means their production is completely fucked which is why shit gets delayed or has bizarre release schedules. I mean, they clearly want to be a multinational corporation since they market to and do business in many different countries, but at the same time they also want to stay this small to medium sized domestic company and refuse to expand their production and corporate infrastructure to the level that any other multinational corporation would.

It's like they truly cannot decide what they want their corporate identity to be.

The army rules aren't the problem when your schtick is 'have a giant pile of cheap sneaky/durable bodies and outscore your opponent,' the problem is having enough units to pull off this game plan. Points drops on units you want multiples of in these lists can stack up to like 100 points and allow you to squeeze in that one last unit you need to get tabled a turn later than you should've and outscore your opponent enough he can't make up the difference.

Tho I think Assimilation has the potential to actually kill shit better than other tyranids lists, it already see fringe play in competitive circles and just needed a boost

Theres a few games where having a unit more will actually help you scratch out a win, but in reality the enemy can either deal with your bloated mess or he cant and in most cases they will not give a shit that you have another pound of flesh to slice through. Warriors especially are just simply too fragile to even act like being able to take more means much at all.

Mhm, still a few more bits to paint up before reaching 1500 though! If rhinos ever go back into stock I'll want a couple of those, plus an exorcist. Which will be most of the remainder taking me to 2k.

Oh there's also the nundams at the back. To go with Vahl. Other than the 2 characters and an extra box of two of battle sisters, rest is literally just 2 of the old start collecting boxes, so literally the combat patrol, minus rhinos. I'd like to squeeze some sacrosancts in too though.

This. The people that treat their minis like precious works of art are the "hobbyists" that just build and paint the minis but don't actually play the game. Personally, I think those types are harmful to the hobby. Had one of those types criticize the basic basing I do for my infantry (just a coat of glue on the base and then dip the base in some sand and tiny gravel) saying I need to "create a scene" with each base. I told him I do it this way because I actually play the game and I don't want my bases to be able to fit in on any type of table and terrain that I might be playing on.

Anon a single blob of Boyz as a unit is maybe 300~ pts including HQ/Leaders. Even as Battleline you probably don't want to take more than 3-4 of these. Add in Ghaz and you still have 500+ to spend on answers for stuff like that.

My current front runner is Mek Gunz for D6 shots S12 -3 D6 damage per model at 50pts a piece, and you can have 3 in a cluster. Good for holding backline/stopping deepstrikes, too.

40k requires willing players to actually function as a system, a bunch of twitter people upvoting posts they like because they pirated a blacked library pdf cannot sustain the hobby because it inherently requires consent from the existing fanbase. If you just refuse to indulge them with your time, they get shunned out and GW has effectively killed their game (not that they'd care).

Unlike comics and videogames, you really cannot play traditional games singleplayer, and unlike DnD it's not as simple as just downloading the starter book and larping as a sparkledragon with your xim/xir discord groomer. You need investment of several hundred bucks and you need people willing to play with your investment.

I think there was an argument against arcos even before the nerfs, too much high OC 2+ save models that exist. One squad is the sweet spot now imo.

Battlecannon Castigator for me. I like the autocannon on paper but in practice ap1 just isn't effective enough while s10 ap1 ignores cover is enough to threaten transports while chipping away at 2+saves in cover.
