I don't usually post on /tg/ but I was motivated to make this is a proof of concept if you could kinda merge a CYOA book format with very light rpg mechanics. This is still a work in progress so please feel free to share any feedback you have. My end goal is to make a physical book with my own art instead of the placeholders I used for this. The PDF is too big to share here so instead here's a link to every page uploaded through Imgur. It's a little rough but it gets the point across. https://imgur.com/gallery/4JspMWV

If you made OC in the past you'll reign as God in your own settings.
>>92732032I'd rather not. I just want to play in the worlds I make at the same level as my players. I make OC for me after all.
>>92732032I can already do that since I'm the author. The REAL benefit is to watch other people engage with your creations.
>>92731991This was the case for me. Italics here. I have some short questions to ask. Q1. What do you expect to see in a near-contemporary JRPG world? What would you like to see?Q2. How do you feel towards a single ambiguous background (Ex: Scholar) before embarking on your adventure so you have a reason to access the power-system?Q3. How do you feel towards mob enemies becoming groups that intervene in your adventure and have their own unique dangers and goals?Misc. Q1. What can be done to make Lamentation more accessible and interesting for you?
>>92732569q1: Females in uniforms. Police officers should all be female for some reason. Maybe politicians too.q2: Positively.q3: I'm not sure I understand the question. "Should low level monsters have cool lore and interact with the player in interesting ways"? Then yes I guess?misc q: Not much.
>>92732599>q1: Females in uniforms. Police officers should all be female for some reason. Maybe politicians too.But why?>q3: I'm not sure I understand the question. "Should low level monsters have cool lore and interact with the player in interesting ways"? Then yes I guess?I wouldn't call them low-level monsters, imagine them like an organized to trained tribe of intelligent monsters that know how to hunt and can ruin a town. Imagine the Beastmen from FFXI.
>>92732369>>92732086I think Monk may be the best option. I like the way Nightblade sounds so I'll take it for something else. These are the stats I'm working with.OffenseDefenseSupportSpeedThese are going to be areas you can obtain points in and have a list of abilities to choose from in each stat.PassionEmpathyIntellectFaithThese are the social stats that also have abilities to choose from in each. The Faith and Empathy stat is going to determine how many companions you can get. Faith will be Celestials and Empathy will be grounded companions. I'm considering a trade option in case someone wants to cut down on companions for more power. There are more racial features to allow mix and matching that will affect the over all build.
>>92732683>The Faith and Empathy stat is going to determine how many companions you can get.You at minimum get 1 companion right? Right?
>>92732719some guys are too much of a misanthrope dick to have a companion following them around everywhere for days on end, it would be insufferable
>>92732751If the person has a companion, they can't *that* much of a misanthrope.

>>92732831Bratty, evil, racist, communist writer ...Man..
>>92732719No. Learn to be nice. Yes, as it stands right now there are 8 Archangels and 3 under each to choose from. You can understand why faith would be needed. Then there are 8 earthly companions and 3 under each of those. -2 faith and/or -2 empathy points will be needed to have an Archangel companion or powerful(royalty) companion. >>92732751There's a drawback that can be taken that gives a strong intimidating aura that strikes fear into people's hearts but also negates the amount of companions you can have for obvious reasons. Or I could make it a perk and have certain companions avoid you for having it. I think companions will be a small part of this overall mess. It's more isekai new life adventure and I'll probably get carried away again.
>>92732861>intimidating aura that strikes fearNo one ever takes this. Not by itself anyway. Only if it synergizes with something else or is a prerequisite would it ever be taken.
>>92732876I can see someone taking it for thematic builds.
>>92731036I'm assuming this is an isekai setup? The intro definitely makes it sound like that.>Kingdom of the StormlandsSeems like a pretty okay place to grow up in.>The Quill (Higher Education), The Hammer (Higher Education)What passes for a good education in this world and actual sellable skills. >Touched By Magic>No Companion, fuck off>Without A HouseBased on location of birth I gain affinity for blood and shadow magic. Looking on the ASOIAF wiki blood seems to be the "strongest" form of magic, being what originally created dragons, so I'm all for it. As long as I kill enough people or animals or magical creatures, infinite power. And shadow magic seems cool as well.I kind of want to be a maester but that would heavily limit my freedom, so maybe I'll just larp as one with chain necklaces. After becoming of age I'd like to visit Asshai to further develop my skill in blood and shadow magic, and perhaps later the Shadow Lands, Stygai, Lands of Always Winter, and other places to become as learned and magically adept as possible. Maybe author a few books along the way.

>>92732269> Do you think that idea came across or did you feel like you were unfairly punished for using the options presented to you?Eh, I didn't really feel that was the case. i cant stop thinking about danmachi bros
>>92733239I liked the concept of Kingsglaive and Comrades DLC (Back lore/story) more than FFXV as a whole. What amounts to Royal Guards (Previous organization before the Kingsglaive) getting taken over by outsiders because they could use magic better than all the others to earn the King's trust, then they turn traitor on the King because he wants to sell them out and end the war, but it was all a trick. So now the remnants have to live in literal atonement hell on the order of their nation's God to fight, die, and be revived until they earn the right to be absolved of their sins and guard the coming of the next king.Just a perfect set-up. Hell, ignore the second part, and it's still cool. Remnants of the King's royal guard have to go out and make amends for their failure of letting the King die / betraying their King and their bodies being vessels for their God's power while doing so.

>>92734566Realis Phrase is mainly OP for levelling speed, but it requires you to be a simp and player adventurers of the Danmachi CYOA are almost as broken as Bell is (he may have 1000+ points in every stat as he levels, but you have a guaranteed 1000 points in each stat (more than the 999 of anyone else and bumping you up a letter grade to SS instead of the usual max of S) and can start as level 6). You can also get Luck at a higher level than he does, and that depends on your level (a Level 6 with Luck chosen at Level 2 will have Luck E by the time he hits Level 6; Bell's Luck is only F at Level 5). In short, Realis Phrase IS OP but Danmachi levelling is like cultivator realms anyway. Higher realms stomp everyone except cheaters and (You) have just as many cheats as Bell does.
>>92734602Realis Phrase is honestly just a Bell custom skill. It would be worthless for anyone else since you need to simp hard for some bitch for it to work. And once you match her it becomes useless. The best part of it is frankly that it can negates the bullshit mind control some goddesses have, but I'm just going to assume there are other countermeasures to it like Abnormal Resist, otherwise Ishtar familia would be a top 3 familia or Freya would rule the city unimpeded and without competition from Loki.

>>92735823The only way to get Freya off your ass if you go for the OP Charm 3 build is by keeping Bell around. It is vital you don't cuck him too much or else you'll have to deal with Freya charm bullshit. Once Freya is out of the picture I'd 100% fuck Ais though, that'd be super funny.
>>92734637The authoralso said that in any route not Ais he loses the buff and the dragon eats everyone, so it's pretty easy to lose it
>I hate Bell and want him to die!So you want the Dragon to win?
>>92734999True, unless the modifier lets you reach beyond 999, in which case your primary stat should be taken. Or if you’re a mage, then the magic stat is a must. Taking all the stats is the trap; you already retroactively have all of them at 1000 per level.

>>92737301>if magic is realLol, magic isn’t supposed to be real to be real. What is magic to one is not going to be magic to another. For every instance in history of “yes that’s magic” there’s another instance of “no that’s not magic”, and vice versa. Magic exists the same way cold, or darkness, exists. It’s closer to an absence. An absence of understanding, an absence of agreement, etc. “Miracles not magic!”, “If you don’t consider nature magical then you don’t truly appreciate nature do you?”, “That’s not magic, THIS is Magick!”, Christ. There’s information you have, and information you don’t have—and anything you don’t know is everything else out there. You think there wouldn’t be particles or waves or other quantum shit to magic missiles? Something can look like magic, and still not be considered magic. Something can meet all the criteria of magic, and still not be considered magic. Magic’s an angle. A sleight of view. It isn’t anything, but can certainly be anything. The same way the word for pharmacy once meant sorcery in old Greek. The same way the modern scientist is rather indistinguishable from the stereotypical wizard in-method.I keep having to repeat this shit, since nobody absorbs it, or reads actual good fantasy authors like Tolkien.

The civilization you have found yourself in is stupid and evil, and has made you stupid and evil, to the point where you consider your troon my little pony fanfiction the gold standard of literature, and you don't think anything deeper than that is even possible, and that anyone familiar with actual classics is evil (because classics just so tended to have been written by white people, who also happened to have some 50 points higher iq than any person you have ever met in your miserable existence).

Not all CYOAs were fucking you from Earth going on an adventure when making a choice and several explictly and implied it was your avatar in the world (Who is still You in the narrative not IRL you.) Doing things from the choices you make in your adventure as your avatar. What in the fuck is this gaslighting and shitposting about all CYOA adventures including past CYOAs only involve your real life self?
That Elysium cyoa is the most infuriating isekai cyoa of all time >hur dur dwarves can’t do magic hur durOh now you’ve made me angry
>The majority of the mage Clans founded are European and White>Only 4 are Asian>Only 1 is Black. What did Italics mean by this?
>>92739530>all CYOA adventures including past CYOAs only involve your real life self?I think those people really mean "most", that's just the kind of exaggeration that you commonly see on imageboards.
>>92739595If you have a problem with that, make your own cyoa where all the auctors are properly Persian or something. It's an author's privilege.

>>92739640Aren't Persians white?
>>92739704Nta but Googled Persian just now to check and it appears that they are not white.
>>92739704Everyone and their mother has a pet definition of "white", doubly so on 4chan. According to some definitions they are (in my teenage years, I read on race from Carleton Coon, who considered the whole green region here "white", but I think most people would disagree), according ot others they aren't.But they are not European. This isn't ambiguous.
>>92739762>who considered the whole green region here "white"Sorry, meant this map.
>>92739773>Coonlmao sounds like a real expert on whiteness
>>92739773>Area includes Sudan and Kush areas.Nubians are white?
>>92739704Persians aren't white. However, they don't like being called Arab, since they attribute the Islamic Golden Age to Persians, not Arabs/Muslims. These people were intellectuals and refined before Islam butt fucked the status quo, and the majority of accomplishments in their time can be traced back to Persians.
>>92739911I have heard of this, although muslims will shout you down for claiming it. Why do muslims ruin so much in general?
>>92739941>Why do muslims ruin so much in general? It's an ape-like religion. What outliers exist are vastly outnumbered by the suicidal ook-ooks and religious-familial peer pressure.

Why is kemono disliked?
>>92740546Because it's furry. Do you want a history lesson on why furries are disliked?
>>92740565Yeah I got time unironically since the thread is already bump limit. Give me the run down TeacherAnon
>>92740565NTA, when I first heard of furries circa 2006, I was told they buy stuffed animals, cut them open with knives, and fuck them. I haven't heard that particular stereotype in recent times

>>92740650>I was told they buy stuffed animals, cut them open with knives, and fuck them>anti furry psyoplmao
>>92740595Long ago in the early 2000s furries were an obnoxious group of people on the internet. Every corner of Fandom you looked, there would be a furry posting around and forcibly trying to insert their donut steel OC or furry versions of Canon characters. This alone was annoying in itself but then you had the fetishes that came along with it. Cub, diapers, ageplay, discussions of zoophilia, promiscuity in fursuits it was a plauge in anime communities and comic communities alike. If you told them to fuck off, you would get push back with hate and flame wars. 4chan was one of the few places where you could vent your frustrations without worry and on the subject of furfaggotry it's hate was shared. Furries tried to insert themselves on threads to the point it was banned similarly to how mlp is banned from boards. Nowadays furries have calmed down for the most part and Kemono in my opinion looks a fuck ton better than what western furries have been sitting out, but the sentiment of furry hate lingers because it's equated to high levels of degeneracy and annoyance. After furries, /pol/ were the hated fucks because of similar reasons. Invading every board with off-topic bullshit and now trannies are at that level. That's been my experience at least on this God forsaken internet.

>>92740743Nta but said like that they also sound like necrophile wannabes too.
>>92740758It is. Kemono is to furry as anime is to cartoon. The same thing but different styles. Kemono furries look cuter or cooler while most western furries look like goofy clowns. >>92740767>>92740650Its funny that furries are the ones running half of the tech industry and a good portion of the U.S. military.
>>92740546I like Lamentations but this place is not your target demographic for it. Try tumblr or /trash/.
>>92740796>most western furries look like goofy clowns. When they are not hypersexualised I just mistake them for characters from qn animated movie, like that new one with the thieves I don't remember the name of, I am sure some furry out there declared the main character husbando or something.

>>92737772>Speaking of Tolkien, is there any basis to black elves and black hobbits and such?. . . Maybe. You could argue that some of the demihumans related to hobbits are supposed to be based on Native Americans, and the "evil men" loyal to Sauron sound roughly like a mix of Libyan pirates and people from the Indian subcontinent. (Remember, Tolkien was a turn of the century author, and those cultures were staples of action-adventure stories at the time. Particularly when the people from them were supposed to be exotic/foreign)It's generally accepted that Tolkien was trying to create an artificial mythology for Great Britain . . .sort of like Lovecraft did with the Cthulhu Mythos. So all the cultures of Middle Earth were based on (real or mythical) civilizations that (theoretically) could have been active in the British Isles. Numenor (the parent civilization of Gondor) is basically a rebranded version of Atlantis, for example. That being said, the idea of other races/ethnicities isn't totally out-of-line. Middle Earth is ALSO a composite of both Tolkien's life and "cool" cultural elements that were circulating at the time he was writing. So you get things like soldiers riding to war on "Oliphants" (India was a British colony at the time), while Bilbo's journey to the Lonely Mountain is basically an African safari to Mount Kilimanjaro (a very exotic experience that wealthy Brits were doing at the time). Sam is basically Frodo's "bat man" . . .So technically, you could argue that some of the more exotic peoples who show up in the story could/should be portrayed as other ethnicities than white/Caucasian. My personal issue with that, though, is Amazon's Rings of Power chickened out. They went for pure tokenism - one black guy playing an elf, one black guy playing a Stoor, - rather than commit to making an entire Middle Earth culture a different. If you want really racial diversity, go for it. Like make all of Durin's clan of dwarves black, etc
