Demon Eyes is a modern setting where the make-believe delusions of kids and young adults alike manifest into actual demon hunting powers. How it works is that a demon living inside you can give you powers at the cost of impacting your normal life with sin.
>Rules?

Ignore uniforms being gender locked.

Gristletooth is no mere man, but one of the earliest experiments of the demon king in creating monsters with greater intelligence. He was however far from perfect, his deformed appearance is proof enough of that. When he learned of his creator's goals, he convinced the Demon king's daughter to join him in escaping. His escape succeeded, but managed to lose him a leg.

His land is known simply as Carnival, a capital of entertainment, rare and forbidden items, monsters for hire, and black magic. He reigns as the main money-man of the whole show, ruling beside unruly demoness which technically outranks him.

His intentions are simple: stop the world from being destroyed fully cause humans and humanoids are way more fun than whatever the Demon Lord has planned if he wins. It goes without saying most religions do not buy this claim at all and actively seek to burn his den of sin to the ground. His prowess with magic and disorganized legions of monsters desperate to hold onto their freedom and lives keep them at bay for now, a maze of teleporters keeping infiltrators who aren't in the know out.

To put it simply: the kind of people who know enough of the dark and secret arts to find Carnival are the kind who will come to like the place, probably.

With the decade of preparation he has, he will spread as much word of the Dangers of the Demon Lord as possible and attempt to earn allies that can see past his origins, looks, company.

A seasoned adventurer and explorer, Nestor was granted lordship over Wyrmwood and its surrounding territory by virtue of being the first and only person to maintain a settlement alongside its edge for more than a few weeks. This ancient and mysterious forest is exceedingly dangerous, and while it covers a vast area, to say he truly holds domain over it is quite the stretch. Most of Wyrmwood remains uncharted or currently inaccessible due to threats that have yet to be eliminated. However, these dangers have also fostered a thriving beast taming and adventuring economy, with many aspiring heroes and researcher traveling from across the land to make names for themselves.

Many sacrifices were made to establish a foothold in the area and expand the domain into the modest barony it has since become. Witches, druids, beastfolk, and local barbarian tribes have been fully integrated into the realm, and the resulting acceptance of dark magic has led to increased pressure from the church. This plus the domain being so far outside the scope of its parent nation have fostered sizeable public unrest towards the aristocracy. As a true man of the people, Nestor has been urged by the realm's citizens to push for Wyrmwood's independence, or, if need be, to lead its revolution.

- When fifteen-year-old schoolboy* Tanaka Haruto was struck by lightning he was transported to a magical world under threat from a demonic invasion.
In this world he was born into a minor aristocratic family in charge of a large military outpost, positioned to keep order in the kingdom's most remote reaches.

Young Lampys was but one of many illegitimate sons of the old Zef Erymanthius, raised by highland clans of both Arcaad humans and non-humans he became prominent as a warrior and fair. When Knyiaz Zef was killed on campaign in the distant south along with his four legitimate children, Lampys won the later power struggle. A decade later and the lands under him have prospered. Unlike his father, the "Boar of Psophis" is an insular figure, well loved by the locals but wholly apathetic to the struggles of the Empire. Here the rot of the hereditary nobility is apparent, incompatible with the clanships, tribes, communities, and peoples of the North-East. He has focused heavily on the needs of his domain and its export capacity, allowing a dramatic rise in the quality of life. As an individual he is of wry humour and harsh honesty. Known to mingle freely with his inhuman subjects who he views as more kin to him than 'mainline' Telosi humans of the south, while being critical of the clergy and impudent 'learned' men who oft look down on periphery people. He refuses to take a wife though he has had several children, many of whom are only half human.

Demon King? Yea, just like the last Beastman Horde that swept in from the South East led by a 'god.' Isolated in the North East on a dry plateau, Lampys is going to be strategic in his approach and shore up defences. If it isn't trouble tracing in from the North and East, it would come from the South and West. In the form of impudent adventurers and "godly" men. Either way we'll always be ready for some sort of trouble, as we maintain a constant state of alertness, foster a sense of local identity, and work with the people. No doubt the enemy will be bested. But after? Perhaps these lands will be free from the southern yoke again. Perhaps we have to put up with them again. Beyond that? Lampys will probably invest in his book collection, probably keep rawing goblins and dwarves. Maybe pick up Falconry if time allows it.

Protected by old mountains, hard weather, and natural dryness, the Arcaadji Highlands are a natural endpoint for Telosi expansion with Tundra to the North and Steppes to the east. Just about any kind of non-human can be found in the complicated and dispersed populations present up in the hills here. There are only a handful of villages and only one real town, Psophis. The current Telosi town boasts the only real population of 'civilized' people, and thanks to the town's high walls the majority of the highlanders can tolerate them for the benefits they bring. While skirmishes and scuffles are frequent there is a stable peace in the region as the Knyiaz's justice and common law sort out most issues. In the worst case scenario tribes and clans will simply move, as if nothing else, the Highlands are vast.

All in all a pretty basic frontier noble. I'll do a retrospective on everyone else next thread I think because I like his perspective.

That's an interesting view on her. Ironically, I think it's because of the weakness and cowardice she dislikes about herself that's kept Choko pretty normal as a person. She was kept away from the front lines during the war and never felt desperate enough for power to do anything drastic for it. When she was being dropped by her old Jonin sensei, she was thinking of quitting being a shinobi all together instead of doing something like searching out dangerous power boost merchants. Rio just managed to swoop in at the right time to make her want to join and try again.

And since we're talking about relationship charts, I did some more thinking about how Choko feels about some of the others, and I feel like Sen (old Sen anyway, Choko hasn't gotten to see how Sen has changed yet) is one of those people she's envious of. She's envious of a lot of people, but Sen is a big one because of their shared age and place of birth. In her head, Sen is a pretty poor fighter, but made up for it in spades with what she does have, something Choko believes that she herself has failed spectacularly at. If it weren't for the Incident™, Choko fully believes that Sen would have made Chunin a long time ago. And now Sen's learning under Tsugumi, one of the most famous people in Shimo. Choko thinks she's springing back from the Incident™ and coming to the Chunin Exams stronger than ever (haha). Then she compares that perceived strength of will and determination to herself and makes herself feel bad again because that's what she does. She doesn't really think about how similar they are, and focuses a lot on their differences and where she thinks Sen is much better than her. It's why she thinks Sen is one of the most dangerous Genin here. Needless to say, Choko's perception of her would be shattered if they did meet and talk and all that, but not in the way Sen expects.

When Choko was still in the academy, her mother got her a book for her birthday, The Mystical Tales of the North Wind Ninja. A pretty generic action adventure story about a kunoichi doing stuff like fighting off beasts and rescuing the daimyo. A mary sue who always had a trick up her sleeve, was constantly several moves ahead of her opponents, and used pretty much every kind of weapon, including a bow. Choko latched onto it and got so into it that she tried acting more like the main character of the book. She would even quote some lines to be "cool". Of course, this is Shimogakure, where kids work out at the library. Other kids found out who she was emulating pretty quickly and she was teased relentlessly for it. She cut that shit out pretty much immediately. It's one of those embarrassing moments she still cringes about when she remembers it and forces it's way to her mind when she's having trouble sleeping.
