So…..is there ANY way for the galaxy to survive the Tyranids? Yes, Chaos is basically perma-guaranteed to win eventually, but if that doesn’t happen in the near future is there literally anything that can stop the main Tyranid body? Necrons may be able to, but they’re way too limited in numbers, too broken down, etc. So unless the Silent King or the Chaos Gods come in clutch is there ANY answer to the threat?
>>
Im trying out the leviathan box for the first time, can someone explain having melee weapons and ranged on the same unit? I know that my ballistics dreadnought can’t fire missiles if a screamer-killer is in my face. (Because they’re blast) Can I fire my lasers? Also since the dreadnought has feet, can it fight during the fight phase? Or can it just shoot

Also, if the Imperium decided they were going to eradicate Commorragh — let’s say the Eldar would open them up safe portals into the Webway — what would the Crusade Fleet look like? Are we talking about multiple Fleets?
>>
>>93175675
Well tyranids are known for a hive mind, i whoever is able to find and kill that thing if it is a single entity the swarm could stop invading the galaxy, still being a giant ass problem randomly scattering tyranids everywhere.
The other option would be finding something tyranids fear/dislike, there are certain things that tyranids evade if possible.
Also there could be something ridicules like changing the webway into a giant vacuum sucking the swarm in and then imploding or shit like that.

Thanks. It’s not worth the effort to get one
>>
>>93175801
Who knows, no one has a clue how far the real hivemind is away how massive it is or how strong.
Shadows in the warp is discribed as seemingly indefinitly voices all in unision and in total dissaray at the same time that just overwhelm everything psycic in nature.
The hivemind could be a monster, a swarm of monsters that form one mind, a c'tan, an eldrich being or even a chaos god. Chaos gods represent aspects of humans and other beings with soul, the more widespread and primitive the part is the stronger it is, eating, growing and reproducing is indeed one of the most basic aspects of live and would be by far the strongest chaos god in that case they would have no chance is guess.
>>
>>93175626
At least you have good taste in books.
>>
>>93175675
Kill the source of the hive mind and they would turn on each other and devour themselves.
>>
>>93176079
The source of the hive mind, ostensibly, is the gestalt mind of all its synapse -- the hive mind exists until all synapse collapses. Perhaps it's an emergent property of some proto-tyranid bioform that's long been evolved beyond and once a sufficient amount of synapse has been purged, it can no longer sustain itself. The shadow in the warp is the physical experience of the hive mind establishing synapse in the region.

Two quick newbie lore questions:
>are chaos "sorceries" actual spells or just a purely placebo way of someone with psychic powers to use them, like that was how they were taught to use them and control them

You could describe the chaos realm a bit like the realm of dreams and fantasy (mostly the nightmarish kind) and psycers give up part of their mind and soul to make a rift between the worlds where those things drip out of manifesting as "magic". non psycers can still be "gifted" by the chaos gods and get mutations and other powers that the chaos gods lend them, practically making the chaos gods do the magic for them.
>>
Are adeptus mechanicus strong? Are they noob friendly/ fun to play? Their lore and aesthetic always appealed to me. I also like orcs and dark eldar but hear they get no support and aren't good.
>>
>>93176133
Sorcery is magic; the practitioners use rituals, artifacts and daemonic pacts to channel power - is just being taught certain ways to manipulate the warp or being able to call upon a warp entity to do it for you. However, the power they channel is the same power that psykers use. The difference is that psykers can harness the powers of the Warp innately while sorcerers need the aforementioned fetishes and other ritualistic things to do so.
You can of course get people who do both, use sorcery for ritualistic scrying, fortune-telling and summoning, and then just straight up use normal raw psychic mind blasts on the battlefield - pretty sure most CSM Sorcerer Lords would fall into this category.

Chaos knows of the future because it's in the past, present, and future simultaneously. There are daemons that time traveled from the end of the universe and back. Qaramar and Abaddon's seer daemon prince are two examples.
There is also the DAoT ship from Death of Integrity that went to the far future where Chaos won.
It's all consistent. The universe will end in Chaos. The Tyranids thus are confirmed to have failed or destroyed.
>>
>>93176184

Wrong.
The codexes and main rulebooks say that Psychic powers and sorcery are one and the same. The difference only exists in the minds of misinformed mortals.

Psychic power is manifesting your willpower to make something happen using the power of the warp.
Sorcery is using ritual to achieve the same effect.

As fahr as i can see it, you have no spells or so that actually cast the powers you just need to concentrate and visualise what you want and if it gets complexer they start using spells and runes to better visualise what they want and to get help from the deamons/gods to manifest whatever they want because its to hard for them alone.

You go to the gas station, pump your own gas and leave without paying. The more gas you pump the higher is the risk of the manager running out with a baseball bat and busting your windshield or even caving your skull in if you're unlucky and he had a bad day.
>sorcery
You go to the gas station and pay a dude there to pump your gas for you. It is safer because you're engaging with the whole thing through an intermediary, but you have to provide something valuable in return. >>
>>93176253
Pretty much, fungi farms and algae farms are a running trend in most Nexromunda books. Corpse starch is often mentioned, but you'd imagine that it would be used to supplement essential fatty acids, not as the staple of the diet, though there is a whole guild on Necromunda dedicated to rendering down the dead into corpse starch (Mercator Pallidus). Synthetic fats and vitamin supplements are also mentioned so that the workers remain productive.
Rat burgers and other hive fauna turned into food are a nice change if you can get them. There's "fish", water spiders and other creatures in the various sump and sludge pools and of course in the sump at the hive bottom though who knows how edible those are, I do remember the spiders being hinted because they had crystalline eyes in old Necromunda, I think there was a long story in the hardback compendium about that. There was sludge jellies too, like jellyfish only more horrible.
There's insect farms for growing massive roaches, beetles and the like that can be ate or used to supplement peoples diets.

Pretty sure corpse starch is more or less like a really crappy MRE but when the grimdank touch applied so it's part made from corpses now, and is extra horrible.

they're psychic voids, they have limits. They also absolutely cannot use psychic powers. There are lore accounts of blanks being overloaded with psychic energy and they drop dead in the same way sapping a psychic with a null rod does. blanks souls are negative, psychic souls are positive, most people are latently positive, you bring either to a 0 point and they become neutralized and die. anything else is fanfiction.

No. The Ultima Anathema aka the God Empress of Mankind used a crown created by a race called the Fabricatus, race that based their technology on the Necrons. The crown allowed her to control her powers and siphon copious amounts of Warp energy to manifest godlike psychic powers. She even shut down a Warp Rift that nearly became the size of the Eye of Terror.
All of this was engineered by a C'tan called the Watcher.
Her reason for existence was to become powerful enough to devour the Chaos Gods and become the ultimate god of the Warp.

Seriously, just play the game, and its DLC.

SoS are recruited from blanks recruited via the black ships, which they operate. When they aren't paling around with the custards they are sailing on hundred year voyages collecting a tithe of psykers from the galaxy and housing them in anti psyker prison ships. These ships eventually return to terra and the most stable psykers may be trained to begone sanctioned while 99% will be fed to the golden throne to assist the emperor in maintaining the astronomicon. Blanks are far far rare than psykers, and only the most powerful women blanks can become sisters of silence. Blanks have power levels like psykers, and truly powerful psykers can overflow the "drain" effect of blanks. They also are universally hated and despised due to an inherent hatred beyond with souls have for them that they can't even explain. This helps the SoS find them. The absolute most powerful ones become callidus assassins, who's weaponized warp dampening power allows them to "not exist" for sapient beings and walk past any enemy defenses and obliterate psykers.

Deldar are immune to chaos through pain.
Eldar are immune to chaos through meditation and spirit stones.
Tau are immune to chaos because they gave teeny tiny souls. (definitely not necrons)
Necrons are immune to chaos because they have NO souls.
Votann are just asspull sturdy due to living so close to chaos planets.
The Tyranid hive mind is so psychically powerful it completely fucks up the warp on planets with enough tyranids that destabilize demons and drives psykers insane.

Chaos eldar showed up in one book and GW wants you to forget it forever. I think its stupid af but here we are.

Vect manipulates both Lelith and Morghana into a death match in his stadium. Both fight bitterly but realize they love each other too much to actually kill each other. Lelith stops fighting and places her trust and life Morghana hands. Morghana refuses to kill her. Vect calls the fight a forfeit for both and orders them both to be killed.

Lelith and Morghana fight their way to Vect and fight him. Lelith beats Vect and gives him an offer. She has as much influence as he has in the Dark City. She can kill him now and go after his proxy bodies. She will war against him and call him a coward over and over destabilizing his rule and in good time she will topple him and take the crown for herself.

Vect calls her out that she doesn't want to rule. Lelith says indeed she doesn't but Vect forced her into this by continuing his plans to control her. So here comes her offer. She will spare him and not war with him if she is allowed to come and go as she chooses. She is free to aid Yvraine if she wishes. However, Yvraine's life is not part of this deal. If Yvraine proved to be too weak and got herself killed by Vect's assassins then she proved herself unworthy of Lelith's help. Furthermore, Vect will leave Morghana alone. Any attack against her is an attack against Lelith.

Vect agrees to the deal but criticizes Lelith for showing her weakness (Her love for Morghana) but Lelith responds that she is strong enough to display her weaknesses. Another thing Vect makes clear, Lelith had thrown away her ability to launch the first strike on him if they ever clashed again. Next time Vect will be prepared for her.

Turns out that the whole thing was engineered by a Great Harlequin who wants to create an opposing force in the Dark City to Vect and his status quo. The Aeldari cause needs Dark City to enter the Great Dance and that won't happen as long as Vect keeps it stagnant. Lelith's influence will allow the Dark City to commit to it to a degree.

>Deldar are immune to chaos through pain.
Chaos Drukhari appeared in a few novels.
>Eldar are immune to chaos through meditation and spirit stones.
A corrupted warlock appeared in the same novels.
>Tau are immune to chaos because they gave teeny tiny souls. (definitely not necrons)
Farsight story is about him struggling with Chaos and being the verge of falling.
>Necrons are immune to chaos because they have NO souls.
A Necron was possessed by Lucius and Vashtorr is currently corryptiung Necron tech.
>Votann are just asspull sturdy due to living so close to chaos planets.
The Warhammer + loremaster episode about the Kin said that Chaos Kin are rare but not unheard of.
Vashtorr recently corrupted Ironkin.
>The Tyranid hive mind is so psychically powerful it completely fucks up the warp on planets with enough tyranids that destabilize demons and drives psykers insane.
Tyranids were corrupted by Khorne on Baal Secundus during the short period of the Hivemind's death and reawawkening.
>>
Reminder - All "lore" is hearsay and propaganda. Of course an eldar is going to say he killed 3 custodian guards while breakdancing and of course some chaos dark apostle is going to say he came from the future and chaos has already won. Every story is somebody's glow up.
>>
>>93177236
>A Necron was possessed by Lucius and Vashtorr is currently corryptiung Necron tech.
The one fucking theme of necrons is being immune. The xeno equivalent of chaos to the Imperium. A force they can't truly beat.
>>
>>93177222
He fights on his throne. Lelith had to get him off his throne to beat him. He fights with the Scepter of the Dark City and some sort of weapon that fires balls of pure darkness.

He also seemingly doesn't feel pain. Lelith cut his hands but felt nothing come from him.

Considering that some Dark Eldar have been alive since the Fall, doing all kinds of fucked up shit just for the heck of it, Vect probably is one of those sickos who has done it all. how much effort you willing to put in? and whats your price limit?

you can buy printed eldar/dark eldar themed bases, or print your own if you can.

you can use the old standby terrain paste and tufts

you could cut plasticard to make tiles or cobblestone

you can get greenstuff rollers

could use greenstuff to try to make an impression mold off of a raider ship deck grate and give your guys ship deck bases

That's because aliens doesn't work well with sci-fi
>>
>>93177048
There was an old snippet of flavor text in a codex in which a Farseer or Warlock was seething about culexus assassins and human blanks in general. Saying something along the lines of
>You idiots have no idea what you're dealing with, you have no idea what those things *actually* are...
Wish I could find it again
>>
>>93178554
Nah aliens absolutely do work in sci-fi. Just look at how many dedicated Ork players there are.
The issue with Ynnari is most likely that they're a soup of pre-existing factions with no identity of their own besides the mary sue vibes. And nobody likes souping factions.
>>
>>93178554
This has to be bait.
>>
>>93178575

>>
>>93178573
Eldar must be scared shitless over the pariah gene humans can have, considering they use psychic abilities for pretty much every part of their daily lives and beyond. In some stories even wraithbone just evaporates when in proximity to a strong enough pariah.
>>
>>93178246
Give a coherent reason why it's bad.
>>
i can't choose between bloodaxes, deathskulls or bad moonz

>bloodaxes
sneaky orks are funny, even more that every other ork thinks they're untrustworthy gits, seems like you can be pretty free with how you paint them too

>deathskulls
blue is a nice colour and orks that stop fighting just so they can steal more are also pretty funny

>bad moons
i like that they're rich and like to flaunt it, and their colour scheme is super flashy

which one should I choose tg?

Soup is flavor, its tournament faggotry that makes it bad.
>>
>>93178726
You're in the minority, most people only want to play their chosen faction(s) purely on their own. But tournament faggotry could have made people dislike soup even more.
