>>97574802So, lieutenants (Optae) lead platoons.Centurions lead Companies, made of multiple platoons.Multiple Companies form a Battalion, which has Consults as advisors, but are not led by Consuls themselves, as they are led by [???]Which isn't Praetors, as they lead Chapters, which are made out of multiple companies.Unless you are on the tabletop, where you cannot afford bring your army unless you bring a Centurion battalion-leader, as the Praetor brings only Veterans (who are actually Company-assets) or Retinue (Chapter-assets)Pic related also highlights lieutenants were going to be named Decurion instead of Optae, as the actual Decurions don't seem to have any sort of command at all, and behave more like ye olde Equites.I still don't know who leads Battalions. I'm going to assume Prime Centurions

lets see some models lads
>>97575132aightneed to get new sets of arms and guns, but I was building some seekers over the weekendluckily I had spare mor deythan heads which look awesome
>>97574802support assets are on hand but i love me a heavy infantry carpetthere are a handful of dreadnoughts integrated directly into the assault company though
>>97575103Since each chapter seems to have just 2 battalions, maybe the chapter master commands both?
How are Hermes Veletaris sentinels?Thinking of a small unit of 2-4, but torn on whether to go with flamers or volkites. I really like the idea of heavy flamers, regular vanguard section come with them already while volkite caliver is stronger than storm section's chargers.
>>97574923the pure-knights faction got butchered harder this edition than ever before. The only thing knight-troops keep away from them is any legal options to bring techpriests so a knight army can actually heal and not get stunlocked eternally by any shock weapons. No, having a 725 point knight have to lose his prime slot to take battlesmith2 with no machinator array so can't smith twice each turn, having to test on 7 or 8 instead of int 11-12 is not the slightest shred of a replacement.
>>97575132now thats a lovely late heresy WE anon, great work.I have almost finished my 2.5k list for next week with my IH.

Asked this last thread, but I would still like some input on my Cata Squad>Sarge w/ CBolter and Thunder Hammer>Cata w/ CBolter and Chain Fist>Cata w/ Heavy Flamer and Power Fist>3 Cata w/ CBolter and Power FistGonna put them in a Spartan and use them for Point Contestion. Thoughts?
>>97575371Drop one cata and put a squad of 5 in a land raider. A spartan is completely wasted on 6 regular cataphractii.Chainfist isn't really worth it on regular terminators with the -1 attack. As for the weapons: what do you want their target to be? If they are just meant to chase tacticals off objectives, power fists are overkill. Just stick to power weapons, maybe one or two with twin lightning claws. If you want them to be more flexible thunder hammers and power fists are better. But make no mistake, any WS 5 unit with damage 2 AP 2 weapons will fold them like a lawn chair.
with my Legion Imp army I'd like to have combined arms but my first 1000pts will be mostly made up of line infantry detachment and a deep strike assault formation. After that I can think about ultra heavy tank spearhead of beloved fellblades or Saturnine assrape cadres. anons were rumbling about Saturnine termies but not that stunning in HH but they seem pretty good in LI (although I haven't playtested them just read rules). The main issue is they are slow as fuck and can't deep strike.>>97575103>I still don't know who leads Battalions. I'm going to assume Prime CenturionsI can't tell if I'm smooth brained or you are but that order of battle appears to literally say that. >Battalion (also known as Cohorts, Regiments, Battle Groups)>Lt. Cmdr (also known as First Captain, Shadow Captain, Marshal, Legate)
>>97575103>platoonsplatoons didn't exist in the roman army or the new model army, therefore they don't exist in the legiones astartes, unless you want to make the up in which case why are you even asking about the resta battalion is led by a commander, first captain, shadow captain, marshal, legate etc aka a lieutenant commander as it literally says on the page there, it's not even written down in a confusing way, why are you like this, why do you always do thisa decurion is a roman term for a cavalry leader, leading a few units (at one stage, anyway; the romans weren't one thing for their entire existence so a lot of terminology changes meaning over time)an optae is the equivalent of a roman optio (the also real roman rank) which is easiest to think of as like a decurion, but not for horsies
>>97575420Well I plan on duping the squad, and the 12-man can fill the Spartan. I said this previously but I am running these for IH, and my own Tact could contest other Legions' Tacts on their own. I think realistically I would like them to go to the more heavily contested points and hold their own. I've heard investment into CMeltas is a good idea for TEQs contestion and to scare off Vet Assault Squads.
>>97575509Combi-meltas will definitely even the odds against other terminators.
>>97575350thanks anonyour sallies fill me with joy
>>97575037the game ruleset doesn't allow you to do anything except for move, then shoot, then charge and fight, so fast attack/recon units are actually shit because all they can do is "move faster", "move or smokescreen reaction" or "farther range"
>>97575509the person who told you to buy cmeltas is a mental retard. Sure if you put +120 points into it, then one single time t he entire game they can scratch one single tank and only if it's within 6", or scratch one single enemy terminator squad up, but your super overpriced combi gimmick squad costs as much as a real deathstar, and the real deathstar is actually hard hitting for 4 turns instead of one single round of shooting then costing as much as a deathstar while having shitty 2-shot bolters the rest of the game and WS4 and no attacks in melee and unable to ever threaten a 2nd tank.
>>97575132I remember that lad
>>97575037literally the worst time was RT; it wasn't really one edition - it started as an RPG skirmish and rapidly became an army-list-builder skirmish the following year via WD articles, then they started redoing the army lists again a few years before 2E, alongside melee, vehicles, shooting; so it was more like three editions, or 2.5anyway the worst time to play 40k was then because vehicles were indestructible (including dreadnoughts and bikes and jetbikes), you could take as many saves as you had (and you weren't limited to 1 invulnerable save), sustained fire was an endless horde killer, heavy flamers were truly dangerousbut the absolute shit on the cake? skimmers/flyerssee, back then the Eldar got their first Craftworlds list in a WD article, and it introduced Aspect Warriors, but armies could be soup anyway, more or less, so Harlequins were also on the table, effectively a seventh, much better Aspect at that time (this is part of why they went away for so long)but both Eldar and Harlequins had jetbikes, with heavy weapons, which were all but impossible to kill if they sat out in the open... so they hid behind terrain and did what's called a Pop-Up Attack (I think it's in the Vehicle Manual) where they rose up, had a full shoot, and sank back down; you could only counter that with Overwatch, which prevented you moving the OW unit or shooting it in your own turn which meant your best guns had to do nothingafter that? skirmishing was dead, it was dreads and tanks into the new edition, devastators and terminators blasting the crap out of pity Guardians while absurdly powerful Avatars and Farseers fucked shit up all around themin those days you could open a warp gate with a psyker and just bridge across the battlefield, fast attack had no meaning, armies were soup, units were soup, rules were soup, purestrain genestealers could move 24" in the first round and eat your front line (unless you overwatched) or remain hiddenwhat was the question again?
>>97575786Why do all people who actually played Rogue Trader sound like Nam veterans...
>>97575786>the meta was different because weird tactics hadn't been sanitized awayIt sounds fun.
>>97575173I've seen 40k people divide their companies into forward (Vanguard) and rear section (Sternguard). Sometimes 3 with a flexible tactical element. So, i guess it's not unheard of; that's what underlings are for.>>97575428>>Lt. Cmdr (also known as First Captain, Shadow Captain, Marshal, Legate)I thought "commander" isn't a rank. It's just whoever's leading the local forces. "Lieutenant Commander" = deputy of whoever is commanding the full forces. As for "Captain", that's sort of Centurion in 30k innit
>>97575508"Commander" is not a rank. A Captain can be a commander, a general can be a commander, a major can be a commander. And marines are never generals or majors or colonels. Those are army ranks.Except neither are they navy or actual marine ranks, as they're never chief petty officers, or admirals, or anything like that. I'd say it's post-Marian Legions and cohort is essentially a battalion...but maniple is pre-marian, so idk
>>97575833i lost my nuts in RT >>97575898no, no, every new WD was damage control trying to fix the previous changes, usually through even more bullshit
>>97574923your techpriest appears to have xenostech.
>>97574923Aaah, Magos Coatl. Current rules cannot encompass his grace
>>97575954>"Commander" is not a rankhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commander(commander is literally a rank)(yes, even in armies, in this case equivalent to a lieutenant colonel or brigadier, although they are not equivalent ranks in modern usage)
>>97575786with that amount of bullshit, it sounds "potentially fun" if both sides are able to pull bullshit of similar magnitude, but completely different mechanics. I read RT and 2nd years ago, but what I still member is termies having 2D6 saves, eldar D cannons being able to teleport their targets around and ork zap kanon had some random win button to it. hell, I wish 2D6 saves would come back in some form. armorbane doesn't count.>so they hid behind terrain and did what's called a Pop-Up Attack (I think it's in the Vehicle Manual) where they rose up, had a full shoot, and sank back downoh yeah this part fits my question! thanks!
>>97575983the Magos appreciates your call out, death to the gunpigs, rad phages for everyone!
>>97573751> IF, and this a strong fucking if, orks ever come to HH, would they look any different from 40k orks?IF they made it to the war of the beast then I'd expect they'd pull an old world, and dust off the molds for any 40k 3rd edition sculpts they would have retired by that point, then start turning old FW models like grot tanks to plastic, then make some 10% krorky shit for when the beast was at the height of his power.
>>97575990Oooh. Thanks for explaining, anon.
>>97575103Always saw the delegatus as battalion commander. It makes sense since he has centurion stats but can take apex detachments or RoW in older editions like the praetor
it's really weird with 3e Mechanicum how much their army list has been completely rearranged, though I did miss most of 2e. I need a bunch more techpriest models (who can all cast tech-magic, if I'm reading this right??), tech-thralls aren't really cheap chaff anymore, and it feels like my favourite vehicles (macrocarid, terrax drill) are on the verge of getting squatted, and now traitors can just use straight up demon engines? I feel like I've been asleep for 10,000 years
Do you paint tanks with the tracks separate? I feel like I can't reach a lot of shit, on the other hand you won't see the places the paint can't reach.

I have like no experience with Horus Heresy, but I have an idea. Necromunda has supposedly been providing Guard Regiments for a long time, even since the Horus Heresy (though that would be the Imperial Army in modern 30k lore). So what would a Imperalis Militia force from Necromunda look like? I am thinking of the Alchem-jackers and the Industrial Stronghold Provences, since Necromunda has a lot of gangs, but is also known for its industry.
>want to build rapier carriers>work constantly has work for me to do so I can't build them while on the payrolllife is suffering, I just wanna build these before the weekend
Feedback for my first IW model? Still a WIP
>>97576921Nice. Unusual color choice, like something from old comics.
>>97577211Heresy-era Necromunda was completely unrecognizable from M41 Necromunda. It was essentially a wasteland of techno-barbarians all fighting each other over ruined remnants of the Araneus Continuity's DAoT technology. Necromunda itself only had a small garrison of the Imperial Fists legion built on it when it was conquered in the Great Crusade, and the Fists all fucked off to join the Heresy fighting, leaving the planet to regress back into complete anarchy. But because it wasn't that important in the grand scheme, it was largely untouched by the Heresy. This era of Necromunda had some crazy tech like highly advanced cloning and gene-modding. Most of this was controlled by the Blades, who had preserved a huge cache of pre-Imperial tech and were themselves a rare and special bloodline from the fallen Continuity. They were also the 3 original proto-Eschers. They created clone armies of themselves to conquer the planet for Helm'aeyr, the proto-Helmawr warlord who eventually unified the planet. Helm'aeyr then paid the Blades to use their highly advanced gene-alchemy tech to take his genetic code and synthesize a superior breed of warlords and rulers from him in a lab, which is where the Helmawrs came from. What I'm getting at is that a Heresy-era Necromunda type army would just be a bunch of barbarians in Mad Max outfits with the occasional archaeotech relic between them.
>>97577312So, at what point they decided to build the entire planet into a jungle of hives?
>>97577340some time in the 10,000 years between the heresy and modern 40k.
>>97577312Well.that's quite a bit different, but still potentially quite interesting. They would clearly have the Feral Warriors Provenance.
>>97577252Looking good, even the hazard stripes look on point.
>>97577340Many of the hives on Necromunda, including Hive Primus and Secundus, were built on top of existing cities that had survived the downfall of the Araneus Continuity. They began to develop into recognizable hives at some point after M33, when Lord Helm'aeyr conquered the planet and signed a pact with the Adeptus Terra to be recognized as the rightful governor of the world. Once it was properly brought back into the Imperial fold, the Helmawr dynasty was established, and Necromunda began to evolve into the Necromunda that people would recognize now with Noble Houses, Clan Houses, and guilds. We don't know exactly when these cities became true hives, but it didn't take long. The population multiplied exponentially, and the Imperium's construction techniques were quite effective at expanding these ruined cities into monstrosities of industry.
>>97575786>in those days you could open a warp gate with a psyker and just bridge across the battlefield, fast attack had no meaning, armies were soup, units were soup, rules were soup, purestrain genestealers could move 24" in the first round and eat your front line (unless you overwatched) or remain hiddenman fuck gate in went in to 2ed too. 24" portal. then fiend of slanesh, combat drugs x2 charge range. a slanesh lord was charing ignoring buildings, terrain etc 40"+ away. when most tables were even 40" across. My Army devolved from "I want to have one unit of each SW unit" to 20 terminators , Iron father standing in front of them with a pelt of wulfen (between -1 to -3 to hit depending on how close the enemy shoters were). Standing on shoting for 4-5 turns, with Njal (Lvl 5 thanks to the hood of Gnyrl) and rune priest bombarding the enemy with psychic powers. But the most dark time for me was before Dark Millinium droped, but we got prints (from GW studio on pink paper) of rules for wargear etc Bjorn was a character and polimorophin didn't have a limitation of "Calidus Assains only" that was only printed on the wargear cards. So I would regularly pop out my dreadnought Claw buddy out of a gretchin or Guardsman.
>>97577232Wtf do you people do for a living where you can freely work on minis instead of doing actual work? Genuinely asking here, because I don’t understand how your bosses are okay with paying their employees to do nothing.
>>97577412I am 46(wrote 45 forgot that in Jan 6 I had my birthday). living with my mom. never worked a day in my life. I got models, paints, brushes a gifts from people at the store, my mom. From what I understand our income , and by our I mean my moms, is mostly renting out multiple flats , getting EU money for having fields used by wild animals, not cutting down forests (Aside for one that they just took from us, because they were building a speed way). My mom also gives lectures, has a patent of some sort of soil thing that is added to make mine soil less toxic. Ah and there is rights from books my uncle wrote, but from what I understand that mostly goes for upkeep of family mausoleum, graves of various family members and emergancy money in case something goes wrong. Ah and my dad pays for my phone and internet. That is most of my income.
>>97577412NTA but working just means being at your work location a lot of the time. Especially in places where long work hours are the norm less time is spend on doing your actual job rather than other random stuff. There's even studies that have proven most people actually get more work done in a shorter work week, but with shit like this people don't care about facts, only about their perception of the subject.
>>97577510How do you "work shorter weeks" when animals have to be feed and milked every day. Cows don't care what days it is. They are feed twice a day, and milked every day. You can't just take breaks.
>>97577522Yes but you don't have to feed and milk them constantly 24/7 now do you? Work week means total hours of work over the duration of a full week, not less days.
>>97577522Nope. Cows don't eat on Sundays. Jewish cows eat on Sundays but not Saturday, and complain everyday. It was cows who famously lobbied for daylight savings time; they care about that sort of thing.
>>97577532I don't know what you know about farm work, but milking alone is 2h and then you have to pump it to the silo and then pump it from the silo to the lorry that comes pick up the milk every day. Then you have to clean the stalls, take care of the calfs. It is whole day of work. And when you are not with the cows, you are grinding wheat for feed, reparing tractors for spring, sharpening tools, brewing alcohol (which in itself takes hours). >>97577586Now I myself have not been there, but my mom did finish two semsters on the Tel Aviv School of Agriculture, and I can tell you that jewish cows act the sam as non jewish cows. the only time you have something different is when you deal with meat bowians and have a pampa like the Argentinians or an Alm like the germans.
>>97576534>tech-thralls aren't really cheap chaff anymoreIt's weird because Thralls are damage sponges with 0 damage, which effectively makes them a retinue. And indeed they only work by being able to be built on the field. But if you do that, their trademark Expendable won't work
