>>98259157To go along with this anons question, do you need to have line of site from your models in terrain to models off of terrain?
>>98259162>When was the last time you were excited about something 40k-related?I actually got excited by the Red Corsairs, only to realize its just a single box of five dudes and some characters.
Hey, it's me again. I'm back, with your daily reminder that heavy intercessors are 15 T6 wounds for only 100 points. It gets better though. They also hit on 3's with heavy bolters (but not actually heavy bolters, they're 30" instead of 36", that would be overpowered haha), since they can count as stationary. You know what the real kicker is though? These are not an elite, they're a troop. Meaning they have OC2 and you can take 6 squads. Isn't that crazy? Now here's something that really surprised me. This one threw me for a loop when I first saw it. Did you know that there is actually an even cheaper way to get these guys? That's right, they made a version of them that is 3 models instead of 5, so it's only 9 T6 wounds, but it's only 70 points! Incredible. And this version actually do have real heavy bolters instead of the 30" version. So they're actually better in a way, instead of just also being cheaper. Because why not! Oh? What's that? When these guys hold a heavy bolter, it suddenly gains Blast1 as well? wow! No other heavy bolters in the game do that! Only these guys that are 9 T6 wounds for 70 points know how to also give their heavy bolters, that they all have, Blast1 as well! That's crazy, that these guys are basically only 24 points per model.Did you know that for the same points cost, other armies pay more, for less stuff? It's true! Comparing these guys to the multitude of other Battleline infantry in the game really starts to make you feel like a fucking moron for not playing marines! Purchasing a Retritbutor squad makes me feel like an idiot! A special rule where Retributors get to spend faith points for more accurate shooting? Ha! Just read the Oath of Moment ability dumbass! So anyway, you should buy some Eradicators, Heavy Intercessors, and Eradicators with bolters. They're what we in Games Workshop like to call a "money maker". Happy gaming everyone!
>>98259180>I actually got excited by the Red Corsairs, only to realize its just a single box of five dudes and some characters.Literally same
Re-iterating my question from last thread:>Raider Crusader, 3x units of Multimelta Devastators, Firestorm Assault Force synergy +1str inside 12"+transport strategemsPeople are nay saying devastators being axed. I am inclined to agree but that means legends units which I'm fine with.Any hot takes on this before I drop it?>not my model
Reminder that everyone in these generals is a massive fucking faggot consoomer that doesn't represent the real fans of 40K, most of which are gone, and are nu-fan fucking loser leftoid retards that will do nothing but circle-jerk about idiotic lore bs no one cares about or ramble on about muh stats and muh tournament scene like WH was ever some balanced, competitive game. These generals are embarrassing and you won't get any quality engagement or help with anything, so it's best to just move on and realize that nu-GW is dead.

>>98259180I really don't understand why they only come in fives in the box. So odd.
>>98259190It is pretty clear when you chat in these threads for awhile that about 80% of posters started in 10th edition and the rest mostly started in 8th at the earliest. Very rare you come across someone who actually played even as far back as 7th, let alone 5th, let alone 3rd or 2nd. This tells me the churn meme is actually real - most people do not stick around these days, even since 8th. GWs entire business model is to con retards into starting out, they buy a whole army, paint, etc, play a few games, never finish their grey tide, get fed up and quit and them GW targets another wave of newcomers with the next edition release or video game marketing tie in. They've driven away almost all the old fans, like industrial farming erodes a topsoil until you get the dust bowl.

Once a model is on the terrain footprint it can shoot normally and recieves a -1 to incoming hit rolls, though a vehicle or monster must have any sliver of the model obscured to recieve the bonus.A model that is at least 3" up in terrain recieves a +1 to hit rolls.

>>98259217I certainly picked an interesting week to come back to /tg/Played a game of 5th yesterday with a friend because they wanted me to try out the Dark Eldar codex from that edition since I only played CSM and CWE during that era. Started in 5th. Played a bunch of 6th, 7th, 8th. Skipped 9th cuz it was mid, 10th was trash and I only played one game of it. 11th is looking to be equally shit. Luckily the lgs in the small town I'm currently in aren't addicted to slurping up whatever slop GW is serving so you can just ask to play older editions or other games
>>98259259no
>>98259274>People here spent like a solid 2 years aggressively flame-warring with a particular egregious shitposter hereThis might be the reason actually: whenever there is an egregious shitposter or lolcow there's always at least one poster that becomes himself a shitposter in opposition to him, and so when that first shitposter disappears the second is primed and trained and habituated for rampant shitposting and ends up lashing out against anything or nothing, like >>98259190
>>98259265>Phanagoroloxodon>LoxodonWell now I know why D&D and MTG call their elepant people Loxodons now
>tq11th actually seems like a lot of fun.It felt like 10th was them rebuilding the game after stripping it down and we're now getting the refinement of that edition in the best way. The way the missions are working now along with terrain being the objectives, I have the feeling that a lot of the tournament catering will disappear in favor of a game that narrative and competitive players enjoy.

>>98259305>That model has the INFANTRY/BEASTS/SWARM keyword and is within a terrain area.no
>>98259293It's funny, by the time 9th ended and everyone had their codexes I actually like it better than 8th. But yeah in general the modern editions (post Primaris) do not hold a candle to the middlehammer ones.
Ork Boyz are a lot smaller than I thought they’d be, though maybe Primaris Marines are just big, Firstborn are comparable in size to Boyz.
>>98259292NTA, but I also started with 3rd. For a lack of a better word newer editions lack SOVL.For example 11th terrain rules are very similar to 4th rules and some how manage to make them more complicated for no reason. Why are they insisting with True Line of Sight when it has been an issue since 5th. At least 5th had the excuse with the laser pointer they sold during that time. Keeping it after that? is just insane.

>>98259319That might be true but the big turnoffs for me in order were how objective scoring was moved to top of turn, the nonsense about not going first if you charged, and lastly the continued ridiculous increases to space marines RoF. Shit man, if I wanted to play movie marines I'd play that garbage custom stuff people make where space marines have 30wounds 15 attacks and bolt guns are ap-4 assault 20. >>98259353Another strange thing is that weapons options are the same. As in the way they are presented. Why GW has not made the options a bullet point or something less wordy is a mystery. Like the places they could actually improve they simply refuse and add complexion for no real benefit

And their understanding of psychic shit nowadays is also just a god/demon that makes it work for them. You can say the thousand sons are right because demons actually exist in 40k, but you'll also find out that the admech are also right and that machines too have spirits. So, you got your question on how admech players play the admech knowing they believe in machine spirits, just like you do while you play thousand sons knowing they believe in demon gods.

I think grey knights are my favorite space marine. Sorry guys
Why do people paint their army like this? Why is there no variation in it? It shouldn’t be so uniform.
>>98260057The worst part is there's an easy fix: Just make it so aspect warriors get +1 to hit and ignore mods when they're attached to a phoenix lordAs to the guard thing, I have no idea. >>98260114It's not necessarily a balance issue. More a huge flavor fail. Psykers are basically impotent this edition but the magic of orders which was already strictly better than magic (why even use magic to buff when yelling works better?) is now even stronger and guard are more accurate than space elves and space marines - on par with custodes at that! Would have made more sense to shift psyker abilities to pure damage/debuffs or change them to having strategic passives but instead they're anemic and you rock Phoenix lords every battle now.
>>98260104Some people like uniformity in their army. You can paint a chaos faction like thousand sons green and purple, but most people like them to be the blue and gold as they're intended.

>>98260276Orders>>98260285Not really. It's like 50-80 for the airbrush, another 100-150 for the compressor, and maybe 20 for cleaning supplies. You can use thinned mini paints without needing dedicated airbrush ones. You don't need the air tank. It just makes shit quieter.

>>98260425The Blood Pact and their weird alien allies were cool. I don't even like Abnett's stuff that much, and would probably be bored if I had to read it again. At the time "what if the Comissar wasn't a dickhead?" "What if the Chaos forces were whatever cool shit that came to me?" were actually pretty novel. You can only ride that out so long, and I think his more recent stuff isn't that interesting.
It's not abnett, but it bothers me how often space marines are portrayed as being nice guys. They shouldn't be polite to guardsmen unless they're Lamenters or Salamanders or whatever. They're killing machines that kill until they die, the fact guardsmen retire (if they don't die) should be enough to earn their ire
>>98260460A lot of them are protagonist characters, and readers don't generally want to root for a guy that's rude to the proverbial waiter, regardless of whatever else they do.
>>98260434-rapes you
>>98260241That book is great, and i will recommend another peak guard/jungle warfare novelFlesh and Iron by Henry ZhouIts about a Guard Regiment in what basically is not-vietnam, with gunboats on narrow rivers, ambushes in villages natives in the jungle who get influenced by 4 chaos marine vietcong and tons of corruption and decadence within the imperial forces. And yes, i know about the controversy of him copying some passages of that book from someone elses war memories, but i honestly dont mind it, because he copied from agood book, which results that Flesh and Iron is maybe not fully his work, but still a very good book about a guard regiment suffering and eventually overcoming all their enemies.
by joining the chaos faction
Since its the 2nd book in a series of 3, the twist is that they become the bad guys of the first book, which is kinda neat, but the first book itself wasn't that great
>>98260451There was a time when "what if a commissar wasn't an asshole" (gaunt's ghosts, ciaphas cain) or "what if space marines were heckin superheroes" (brothers of the snake) were very novel ideas within the context of 40k. There was no culture of "40k is secretly a lot more nicer than you think" on the internet. They were genuinely subversive and interesting takes on the IP. That time has passed. We are in an age where the online 40k discussion space is occupied by redditors and tertiaries who watch youtube shorts that ALL have the exact same takes, but repeated so often that it becomes law to tertiaries and secondaries. ALL commissars in the tertiary/secondary fandoms' eyes are competent good guys, marines ARE heckin superheroes (the setting even revolves around giant space marine daddies to these people), "let's look at some nicer places in the imperium" is played out to the point that there are people who genuinely get upset at the idea that most of the imperium isn't like (the upper class occupied sections of) Gudrun, these are NO LONGER INTERESTING IDEAS. The most interesting stuff being done now in the BL in relation to 40k is stuff like Fehervari's Dark Coil.
>>98260472Yeah, which I appreciate, but at least if the protagonist is nice, the others should be shitty to compensate and be confused by the idea
>>98260472Which is why books are usually best, when there are as little as possible marine characters. Some authors understand this better than others obviously.
>>98260478The Things They Carried?
>>98260460Not to undercut your point, but aren't space marines conditioned to be somewhat fine with the endless fighting and dying going on?
Any leaks for tomorrow?
>>98260488That's true, I agree, but they're also writing pulp fiction for teenage boys.
>>98260460I have no issue with space Marines being presented as cool sometimesTheyre just genetically modified humans they all have their own personalities and have their own creed and such
>>98260492House to House was the name of the book that "inspired" him.
>>98260502Besides AoSfags leaking from their butts there is nothing so we have to wait until tomorrow
>>98260505Sure, there is a place for bolter porn. But i have a feeling they kinda understand the issue, and there is less and less of it. (or maybe i do not pay as much attention to their new releases, if there is a marine on the cover)
>>98260502It's gonna be ork or marine stuff and the prepainted terrain who cares
>>98260490I mean the main BL series is nothing but marines plus the occasional side character and their new long running series is going to be the same so idk who you think in their writing department understands this.Even worse if you're not imperium. There were eldar in exactly one HH novel - Fulgrim. Wow how exciting, how about Necrons? Oh. And this is the mainline series for 40k novels.
>>98260510To be honest, I'm okay with loyalist marine wank. It's the pearl clutching about some of the older CSM characterization because it doesn't match the Horus Heresy version that annoys me. There are Redditors who find it offputting that the IWs in Storm of Iron and Dead Sky Black Sun aren't hecking choo-choo autists like HH Pertie.
>>98260524just kill hh fans problem solved
>>98260407>high IQlol, no. Anyway yeah I have a lot of filters and this place honestly ain't bad if you can ignore the shitposting. Plus I've been on 4chan way too long to leave at this point. also most of the time I stick to /wip/
>>98260460This. Not enough "purge the mutant", "kill the heretic". I don't mind marines having a personality, but imperial characters should remind you that the 41st millenium is quite different, not just in style. If your story/dialogues/characters can work if you switch the 40k setting for 21st century contemporary america, you have failed miserably.
>>98260521>I mean the main BL series is nothing but marinesThere is a main series? If you are talking about Horus Heresy, you will notice that every legion and every bigger faction has at least a handful of human characters with enormous plot armor, and some books and stories are at least 75% about humans. >There were eldar in exactly one HH novel - Fulgrim. Wow how excitingThere are Eldar characters in plenty of HH novels. >Wow how exciting, how about Necrons? They were sleeping. Besides: Would you want to listen to the outcry of them retconning Necrons into 30k? No thanks. Let them wake up 10k years later.Besides those two Xenos races, you got a lot of Non-40k xenos and factions mentioned in the 30k books, so in terms of variety, they are not that bad.
>>98260502Probably new season for Kill Team.I hope they fire the fucking fluff writers who keep doing present-tense dross.

>>98260266We don't have Conscripts any more.Kriegers are base 4+, 3+ w Take Aim. They only go to 2+ if they're below starting strength. It's 5+ base, 4+ w heavy. 3+ best if w Take Aim.Tanks are all 4+, 3+ with Take Aim.

>>98260502Can't you just enjoy things as they come?
>>98260554I think there's an interesting character study in there, because they theoretically have an alien mindset and perspective since they can live for centuries.
>>98260544Unfortunately we'll never get that, because1) if you're good enough to write that, why would you stick to 40k?2) GW would stop anything interesting from happening.God forbid the fanatic zealots of a death cult praising ignorance, hatred and fear start doing something that's bad 400 centuries prior. Gasp, I say, gosh, even.I also hate darktide because every character is like>Imperium evil, mkay? When one of the funniest thing in Vermintide is the elf racism. Why? Because it's ridiculous and banters opens a ton of great dialogue that expose the viewer/reader/player to two different clashing worlds/personalities.
>>98260502ravenwing land speeder kit
>>98260567>because they theoretically have an alien mindset and perspective since they can live for centuries. And that is only one thing that is different about them. Them being stronger and better than pretty much every normal human should breed a certain type of arrogance towards humans in 99% of them. And that would be the "nice" marines.
>>98260567I mean of course but also people react differently to shit and personal agency and choice and all that
>>98260574Have you played Rogue Trader yet?
>>98260560It's a reveal show, so they're not coming anytime soon. I don't like waiting for GW's little event to see advertisement. Plus fuck GW, I like when people fuck them over in ways that don't affect the rest of us.In short: Yes but not applicable.
>>98260400>>presents guilliman indirectly as more of a mussolini style dictator who participates in the same petty politicking as the high lords of terra and has dissidents murdered instead of the capeshit redditor image that guy "reddit" haley presentsI like that Big G can be both
>>98260582Im bigger and stronger than you but I dont view you in that way
>>98260496Oh I don't mean the marines should be bitter about their job, the opposite - the fact guardsmen have issues with living to die for the emprah enough that going rogue/deserting is common should make them have problems with them. Guardsmen being human would realistically make the inhuman marines annoyed by them, which would add an interesting bit of irony because the imperium is all about humans. Basically, marines would be like the kid at school who loves homework while the guardsmen are everyone else, going through the same but one person will tell the teacher if they forgot to ask for the homework
Can you liquitape the joints on a knight instead of using plastic glue to make it posable?
>>98260554>monolithicNo faggot, it's that marines shouldn't act and think like contemporary people but super soldiers. There's a thousand ways to spice up your psychotic indoctrinated hateful super soldier.
>>98260602Literally half of the space marines defected so lol
>>98260589Should I?
>>98260582Then you have the problem of audience buy-in for a protagonist being a dickhead to randos in what's fundamentally light, pulpy reading. It can work if the point is that they're having a blast being evil, but that's not the usual angle. That's part of why Palpatine is so charismatic.
>>98260400>says all agri-worlds are so fucking horrible and hellish that even plague marines can't stand them. the squeaky clean image of agri-worlds beloved by redditors is even referenced as being in-universe propaganda to sucker in migrants as cheap slave laborAre you drunk? Reddit loves that bit and reposts it all the time and wanks it as a paragon of grimdark.
>>98260533Eldar characters in HH novels.Okay I'll be generous. In the Horus Heresy novels outside of Fulgrim for obvious reasons, where would you recommend I direct an aspiring Eldar player? Funnily enough Horus rising kind of works for Orks since the reason for the triumph at ullanor was how tough the Ork Waugh was to beat and they even gave the orks some cool feats to boot!Tau/Crons/Votan ain't getting shit for obvious reasons.Non-playable races aren't relevant as the point is to give players of other factions some content at all and give character to non marines.
>>98260604The vast majority of them don’t though dudeA couple of them are cool and you hmm and haw about it like “no they have to be profoundly mentally ill! Its not grimdark enough!”
>>98260611If you like 40k vidya and interesting takes on Death Cults, then maybe its a game you might enjoy. The steam sale right now makes it a bargain actually. (get the season pass 1 for the Death Cult npc + quests)
>>98260609Yeah, this was before they psycho-indoctrinated them, and that's why they started doing it
>>98260615I mean, yeah. Nobody likes actually doing agricultural labor. You have to conquer people and force them to pick it at swordpoint. Given the option of working the rice paddies or a sweatshop, people in SEA pick assembling air-conditioner units for 12 hour shifts, they often pick the sweatshop.
>>98260634Just saying for them to 100% be disgusted by guardsmen by default for their supposed weakness would be retarded considering space marines probably have the highest rate of heresy in the entire lore lol
>>98260622>vast majority of themNo, and since you like stuff sourced from asses:>*farts in your face*>>98260632I will look into it>>98260609nta but that's why they amped up the psycho indoctrination after the heresy
>>98260649How would it be retarded? That would just highlight the dramatic irony. The amount of traitors is almost definitely massively suppressed knowledge, just like how many imperials think lorgar is a loyalistIt's like how custodes blame marines and such even though they failed to do their literal one job, which is to protect the emprah
>>98260632>season passI'm too old for this. What the fuck is this?
I liked DoW2 because each character is a slice of marines.>Tarkus: wise solid reliable codex guy>Thaddeus: start of journey, hopeful and (still) human>Avitus: We are weapons. There is war, there is death, and there is nothing else. Angy >:C>Cyrus: Grim. Dark, even. Steve Blum.>Daviant Thule: DreadnoughtStill one of the best 40k games ever and the heroes of Aurelia will be shilled for eternity.
>>98260618Angel Exterminatus has an ancient Eldar city with a big battle at the end.You got all the Salamander stories where they fight Eldar, especially the (in)famous one when Vulkan orders to kill the childrenThe Cabal appears several times, and so does Eldrad with his Prophecies. Crimson King and Old Earth have plenty of Eldrad scenes. But why would anyone interested to start 40k Xenos read about 30k Humans anyway?

Do you guys know what campaign the marked badges represent? The short lightning bolt in a circle is a Tempestora Campaign badge for example.
>>98260659>season passnta but it's essentially either a DLC where you have to play to unlock what you paid for (you have a limited time to do so), or it's a DLC but you don't know yet what you're gonna get, usually only part of the content is announced; like you know what you'll get for Q1 of the year, but you're paying for the whole year and will get Q2, Q3 and Q4 content as they drop. It's another shitty monetization and a terrible evolution of DLCs inbred with early access.
>>98260654But some space marines would knowSo some might behave somewhat differently with that in mind
>>98260659Essentially a bundle to buy two addons at the same time. There is season pass 1 and 2. Alternatively you can buy 4 addons indvidually, but the season passes save you a bit of money compared to individual purchases.
>>98260668>*farts on the egg*
>>98260679>le eats the poopie egg xd
>>98260671You confuse it with "Battle pass" i think, but each game devs do it differently. With Rogue Trader, you can save a few moniez by what is essentially "pre-ordering" the future DLC. Season Pass 1 gives you the Death Cult and Arbites DLC (both released for some time)Season Pass 2 gives you the Necron DLC and a unspecified Space Hulk DLC in the future, with the Necron DLC already released. All of the 3 released ones are available indvidually too, so in this case i dont see a big problem with that business model.
