Say, for the sake of clarification, I always imagined the demihumans as mythological/completely bizarre creatures. Stuff like dullahans, gorgons, mermaids, skinwalkers and stuff like that. Hard to say whether or not that overlaps with the demon race though.

Demihumans are limited by the fact that they have to look inhuman in some way, while demons don't really seem to have any restriction of that sort and could even look like another race.I think as long as it looks inhuman enough, and not like an animal, you can spin it as either.Also, apparently whatever has a human parent will look more human than not, but that only applies to demons.

You have to realize that most anons are just waiting for someone to dig up a new MCYOA to write their OC into. Emphasis on "THEIR." Each person has a concept for a character that they came up with outside of the setting, but because the prospect of writing a whole setting for their character intimidates them, they wait for a premade setting to pop up to fit them in. However, it's like fitting a square peg into a round hole. The first few weeks are entertaining, but because there's nothing new for a player to make outside of their OC and maybe some of their relations, and because the setting is on a different "wavelength" from the OC itself (vague, I know), interest dwindles. It doesn't feel like there is much wiggle room with so many people wanting to steer the wheel in a circle of players, so inevitably, players abandon the MCYOA, make a new character outside of it to whet their attention, and the cycle repeats.What is likely going to be one of the few feasible solutions is getting everyone's heads together to make a new setting, with a few tard wranglers making final calls. Lay out expectations, ensure they are generally agreeable, then focus on the core concepts and themes and build from there. Account for what kind of system you all collectively want to write in doing so; sometimes less is more, so don't make it dauntingly complicated (as difficult as it is for autists like us), but make sure it is cleanly extensible. Make this a social activity, but stay the fuck away from starting a Discord server over it. Most importantly, offer to help each other out with hangups and writers' blocks.I hope these ramblings help get noggins jogging.

Making a build in the CYOA was frusterating since the way it formatted itself was extremely stupid, and it took a lot of discussion and deliberation to eventually make the process easier, and even then you still had people make mistakes on their build which I don’t blame them for. Also, the default setting for Isekai Tournament sucks. One world, and that’s it. Or jumpchain for multiple. Both options had a lot of issues, so we had to Battleworld it to make it usuable for anyone who wanted to go in without needing to worry about the “right” setting. Of course, having so much options meant not everyone was going to start out together, as people naturally leaned towards what media they knew, so that left a majority of the players split up. Overall, it was a mess, but I can’t say it wasn’t a fun mess. Wish it went further, as it was pretty much the ultimate crayons experience, or had the potential to be.

Unironically, (one reason) I couldn't write for Isekai Tournament because I hated the powers other people chose. I had zero idea how I would write a fight with everyone involved and have their powers work out and interact well.

>>98323195I know you've never actually played Harbinger, but if you check the bottom of page 1, where the stats are listed, there's a stat called "Control".If you look closely, you'll see that it, among other things, "unlocks new ability uses". If you get your Control stat to ten, your power will have 512 times as much extra usage, even the basic ones like flight. Good luck figuring out how that works! It also increases power synergy, so any power combo you take will be 512 times as good, too!In short, even if you pick a braindead simple power like flight and apply the stats, it's incredibly undefined and with awful interactions! And if you pick unscalable powers like Luck or meta powers like Magic and Invention, it's a thousand times worse!Hope that helped <3
