When /tg/ was obsessed with Krieg, it was because of the novelty of a regiment that is miserable fanatics who die in droves (usually pointlessly) chasing redemption for a crime their ancestors committed. As soon as the mainstream realized Krieg existed, they latched onto 'hurr durr shovel beats Bloodthirster' memes and still don't know the first thing about the actual psychology of the regiment or its homeworld. They have absolutely zero interest in the opportunities for /yourdudes/ and storytelling that the regiment offers. They just parrot the same "DUDE SHOVEL LMAO" shit usually with a massive helping of the usual Guard player copium justifying playing as disposable fodder in a setting full of space demigods, undead robots, and turbo-xenomorphs. I have even seen cretins on other forums trying to unironically argue that the regiment that needs commissars to keep them from pointlessly wasting troops in attritional siege warfare is actually 'not that zealous and actually highly reasonable and far more tactical than most regiments.' These same idiots never read the codex, never paint any minis, never engage with the actual setting beyond youtube videos and playing Space Marine 2 which is the definition of Marvel-style 'safe masculinity' where 40k isn't a setting full of fucked up assholes all dooming humanity with their petty interests, it's actually a bunch of superheroes tearing through all the corruption and zealotry that defines the Imperium. It is now impossible to play Krieg or even discuss them without the level of dialogue being dragged into the most painfully trite direction by braindead secondaries.In short, normies ruin everything.
