There is a pretty big distinction to be made here. The thread has way more than 5 regular posters, but most of the regular posters are just shitposters. Of the anons who make builds we do have very few who interact after the build is made, and even less who actually write anything.
But the real problem is that, just like >>98801370 says the shitflinging gets unbearable after a bit. We have more than 5 active anons, but since they have different tastes and are unwilling to compromise on anything it seems like we have less outside of arguing.

The anons are the same, they just got super picky on what they make builds for. You can tell by the fact the thread gets a spike of a ctivity every time it's time to shut down the next MP. Everyone comes out of the woodwork to shit on anything that doesn't fit perfectly with what they want, then goes back into hiding when something starts anyway and shows up periodically to shit on it again to test the waters and see if the other anons gave up yet.
I still try to make builds for everything that actually starts, but it's getting harder if you consider that shit doesn't last and every build is burned forever once posted.

NTA but personally I haven't made a build for HP because I've already done builds for the prior two MP's for it. I don't really have much of an interest going a third go around, especially because I can't think of any archetypes I'd be interested in exploring that aren't just one of the other two I've done. When I say that I wait for things to start I don't mean anything that advanced. I just mean that I'm not the first one to post a build, I wait for 2-3 builds to be there already. I just want to be sure there is more than zero interest or 1 guy by himself. I firmly believe that an MP can work just with 3-4 anons if they are dedicated enough, but 1 or 2 aren't enough, at that point it's less a multiplayer and more a conversation.

If I was the one who started the MP I would have the build ready and be the first to post it, I expect the same out anyone else attempting an MP as a show of the minimum dedication required. In this case I'm still not sure if I like the setting enough to try it so it's a different problem, and someone already got half my idea too so that doesn't help.

A cyoa can offer endless possibilities for making a character, but if out of those endless possibilities you only find one actually good, and that one gets burned on a dead run before you do anything, there is no reason to even try o be part of the same cyoa again. In an ideal world where we all have unlimited time, drive and creativity then this would be fair, but plenty of anons are struggling to find the drive to do something new and we've had dozens of runs that people were sleeping on but would go back to if given the chance.

And yet several anons are in that very situation right now, and openly admitted it several times. It may not be exactly 1, it may be 2 or 6 or whatever, but the problem stands. Some people like a setting only if they can interact with it in a very specific way. Some just find very specific things fun. Assuming that everyone can keep churning out characters endlessly, and that they will have the same care and drive to do something with every single one of them is a way more absurd idea. People have preferences, and those preferences will limit what they do. The first character is going to be 100% perfect and have all of the drive and creativity, because it's a character that's actually liked, but from then on the characters will have compromises and shortcuts, 70% liked, 50% liked and so on. It's not necessarily an on/off switch, but you can tell when someone doesn't care about a character and if they don't care why should they put in any effort into making things work?

Lost Magic: Spacial Crag
The user can warp their surroundings into an endless world of nothing but rock and dark clouds, bringing with them all targets in range. Ending or dispelling the magic puts everyone back to their real world location. A collateral damage mitigation technique primarily, but it could also be used to force someone into duels.

A cheerful woman in her late 30s, Helena grew up in a rural village before becoming a mage, and a powerful one at that. She didn't found Megalo Fin, she is the current Guildleader after its previous one passed away. In terms of leading, she mostly lets the guildmembers do their own thing, with a couple vague guidelines like "please don't be mean without reason" and "leave places better than you found them", but she can be a bit overbearing in her guildmembers personal lives, as she thinks every one of them should be treated like family. Kind, relaxed, forgiving, and nurturing, and also a terrifying force on the battlefield. Likes looking after her other guild members, cooking, and generally meddling.
